| Glen Phillips – Drive By Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Along with toadtws, when I saw Toad in 2003 at the Vic, Glen introduced this song with it was a true story, but it didn't happen to him, it happened to a friend of his.... but he was the owner of the Vega. | |
| Glen Phillips – Easier Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
The CD recording of this does feature the beginniing verse of "I was eighteen, so were you I was that Birkenstock, geek-rock dude You were the back-flipped, doe-eyed tree-climbin' Earth-mama Beautiful evergreen girl " I have never heard it sang any other way, and I've heard it performed 4 times now. |
|
| Glen Phillips – Everthing But You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think this song is, yet again, a wonderful allusion to someone who you love so deeply that even when absolutely everything has gone horribly wrong in your life, that one person is the embodiment of clarity in your world. And it can be a little scary sometimes. :) | |
| Glen Phillips – I Still Love You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is completely sweet. I think it's just the notion that you could find someone who you love and who loves you back completely, even the bad parts of you. Someone you've loved for a long time. I think it's wonderful. I wonder if it's about Laurel? :) | |
| Glen Phillips – Marigolds Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think it is about someone either dying or being terminally ill... i think it's someone who has been sick for a very very long time. | |
| Glen Phillips – Released Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I want this song played at my funeral. I like to view this as when you "cross over" | |
| Toad the Wet Sprocket – Desire Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I agree about it being amazing. My own feeling is that sometimes, you just get the urge to break out and do something completely uncharacteristic of yourself. I know I feel that way sometimes. It's not necessarily something that I would do, but sometimes I just desire to be something else. | |
| Toad the Wet Sprocket – Hold Her Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| side note to MusicDragon-- in Glen's solo career he says he'd "cut off my whole f**king face" in the song Easier. | |
| Toad the Wet Sprocket – Listen Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I always viewed it as a relationship going wrong... You realize something's not working, and you mutually agree to work things out, but no matter what, you just keep doing the same things over again, with no improvement. | |
| Toad the Wet Sprocket – Dam Would Break Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I don't necessarily hold this as being a religious note.... I think it's more of anything that you try to hold your feelings inside about, maybe something that is bothering you that you can't necessarily pinpoint exactly. Like if you could give an actual name to what it is, then everything would just spill out. | |
| Toad the Wet Sprocket – Barely Breathing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Duncan Sheik, people.... Duncan Sheik. | |
| Big Head Todd and the Monsters – Please Don't Tell Her Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I get more the impression that it's a girl he houses a definite interest for, but he's afraid if he tells her, she may not feel the same, and it would completely destroy the magic of what he feels for her, so he would rather her not know. | |
| Everclear – She's So High (Above Me) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Aaaaah, no. Try Tal Bachmann. Nice try, though. | |
| Imani Coppola – Legend Of A Cowgirl Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Interestingly enough, I heard this song on the closing credits for the cartoon Daria and fell in love. :) | |
| The Rolling Stones – Angie Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Several years ago, People Magazine actually ran an article where they interviewed the people that several "name" songs were written about, and Angie was one of the people they interviewed... she was a woman that Mick Jagger was involved with at one time... don't believe it was his wife or anyone else's (read: NOT MARRIED TO BOWIE).... She UGLY by the way. |
|
| Joey Lauren Adams – Alive Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I don't think this song necessarily has to be only for the homo/bi sexual set. I really think it applies to ANYONE at that particular stand point of being alone and/or awaiting the proverbial "one" | |
| Limp Bizkit – Behind Blue Eyes (The Who cover) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
1. I Agree- the L.I.M.P. part was pointless and annoying 2. I Agree- The Who's version was better 3. This IS much better cover than the Fred Durst / Johnny Reznick (or however you spell it) cover of "Wish You Were Here" (which made me want to repetetively smash my head against the wall) 4. As much as Limp sucks, this was actually a really decent song, and I think it's about how people kind of have a tendency to get this golden perception of a person, but you never really know what is going on in their minds... if they're really hurt, or happy, or angry... People can cloud out anything if they really want to. 5. Why do morons have to go and trash it if the line above the comment box says "What does this song mean to you?" I mean, "LIMP BIZKIT SUCKS" is not really a proper answer to that question, now, is it? |

| Dido – White Flag Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| To me, I feel this song describes my situation perfectly. I was dating a guy for 2 years, and over the course of it, we would have our little fights, making up and breaking up for whatever stupid little reasons... it finally got to a point where he was just like "This is hurting me too much, can't do this anymore" and we split... but I wasn't ready for it to be over. He and I are still friends (and getting ready to have a kid together!) so we still talk and hang out, and I'm trying to figure out how to repair (not go back to where we were, but find a better place) what we had... but I think I've hurt him way too much to ever be able to get him back. | |
| Snow Patrol – Run Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I have an uncle who passed away recently from Emphysema and the complications due to it... This song came out very popular in my area right when it happened, and it makes me think of him and my aunt... because they had been together over 50 years... and from this segment: "Light up, light up As if you have a choice Even if you cannot hear my voice I'll be right beside you dear " When he was in the hospital, he was on oxygen and couldn't breathe enough to be able to talk... I know he wanted my aunt to cheer up a little because we all knew it would be better for him to go, so it was like he wanted her to light up as if she could, because, even though he couldn't tell her, he'd be with her forever... and several other lines in the song make me also think of their situation... I just think it's very sweet. |

| Sarah McLachlan – World On Fire Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I am in agreement to the fact that this video brought me to tears. It is so horrible how much suffering there is in the world and seeing that there are so many celebrities who throw money away. Did anyone know that Usher buys his shoes and jeans and wears them only once? why not take some of that money and buy food, clean water, clothes, shelter, whatever for some children who need it? I am preparing to be a mother soon myself, and knowing what kind of suffering is out there in the world and knowing it isn't getting better breaks my heart, because i know it's only going to get worse, and I'm bringing a life into this horrible place. |
|
| Sarah McLachlan – Stupid Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
This song is amazing... Sarah has some of the most dead-on points in her songs... This particular one really has meaning for me, because I am going through a particularly tough time with the father of my unborn child... I love him dearly, and I only want to be with him, but he's very immature and keeps distancing himself... He'll tell me he loves me one day, and then ignore me for 5. It's like the whole bit from the song "... except to cry out and wait for your answer but you come around in your time speaking of fabulous places create an oasis dries up as soon as you're gone..." Despite my feelings for him, he may not be the best thing for me now. |

| Poe – Trigger Happy Jack (Drive by a Go-Go) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I think it is clear to see (for some, anyway, quite like myself) at a point in your life, you get feeling low enough about yourself where you feel like you deserve nothing but the worst... I got kicked out for mine.... | |
| Nirvana – Come As You Are Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| well, what do you know, I guess he really did have a gun..... | |
| Our Lady Peace – Superman's Dead Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
The song was released way before Christopher Reeves passed away, and how horrible you are for laughing about such a tragedy. RIP Christopher Reeves. |

| Toad the Wet Sprocket – Whatever I Fear Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| My mistake, it was actually on the PS album that I heard it. I don't have Coil. Thanks for the correction, though! | |
| The Rolling Stones – Angie Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I was named after this song!!! | |
| Duncan Sheik – Home Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Such a BEAUTIFUL song.... pretty much self explanatory. I see it being pretty much he's at a point where he's realized that he's in love with this girl, and when he's around her, you get that euphoric sense where everything in the world seems better, bigger, and brighter than it actually is, and you just feel like you belong perfectly. This is actually one of my favorite songs, and a song that describes my current relationship perfectly. I like the verse: "I look through the darkness, into the sky The moon up above me brilliantly shines I've never been happier watching it glow Here by myself, but I know I'm not alone" It's just wonderful when you're in a relationship where even when you aren't with your beloved, you know you're just not alone anymore, because they will be in your heart (and your head). |

| Duncan Sheik – She Runs Away Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Anyone else think Duncan has to be THE most underappreciated artist ever? | |
| Hoobastank – The Reason Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I actually heard a different story other than the fish tank thing on how the band got the name. I heard it was a college thing with some of the bandmates passing gas. It was a statement: "Who's Butt Stank?" (now say it fast) I don't know, sounds like crap to me. Now, with me, I think of this song as being a moving on type thing. I view it as a couple has broken up, and one half has decided (having already come to terms with the relationship's end) to move on and pursue other relationships, but he's trying to make nice by telling his ex that he's gonna learn from his mistakes and do better next time. Of course, that's just MY opinion.... |
|
| Incubus – Crowded Elevator Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I don't know, I kind of interpreted it as more of a situation where he's with a person he wants to be with, but isn't. I mean, the elevator itself could be metaphorical to life in general, like he's feeling crowded, but there is this one person (the non-stranger, if you will) that he wants to share the million words and phrases with. Sounds almost like he's been wanting to confront her with his feelings for her, but didn't want to due to whatever reason (other persons interferences, whatever reasons people have), and he's contemplating just getting it out in front of everyone in the open. Everyone has had that moment where as soon as everyone knows your secret, you feel better (albeit, sometimes, exposed a bit). | |
| Fleetwood Mac – As Long As You Follow Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I see this as a love song, definitely. I'm just not 100% on whether it's a "New found love" or a "we've had our problems, but now you're back, and i know we can get through anything" kind of love. My personal relationship at the time I really came into this song more fit the second description, and it really fits the two of us perfectly. | |
| Toad the Wet Sprocket – Come Down Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| In my own opinion, this seems like a song from a relationship that may have been on the outs. Like this guy is telling her that he realizes he messed up, but it's not worth dwelling on, they should work on it. He knows they've wasted time fighting. | |
| Toad the Wet Sprocket – Whatever I Fear Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song was really a rude awakening for me. I mean, I had spent pretty much my entire life sitting around waiting for things to come to me because I was too afraid to venture out and take the world on by my own hand. In an interesting twist of irony, I had decided to take a trip to Brazil (from the US) alone, and I heard this song on the airplane (had the Fear CD, just hadn't had a chance to listen to the whole thing until that trip) and when I heard this song, it made me stop and think. I must have listened to the song at least a good 30 times in a row, and it still impacts me to hear it now. It's all in the "Did we expect these things to change..." verse. | |
