Maiden tried all kind of musical things in this song. Like short pauses before plummeting back into the song. Good song. Can't say I like the ending. Kinda rushed and sounds bad, in my opinion, though I'm open to persuasion (it'll take one LOAD of persuasion). |

I think the song is acutally meant to be a fantasy thing. Not really based on any real life things. The way it goes on about the spirit and mysterious being seems surreal and eerie. That's what makes it so good. |

No it doesn't. It sounds like it says "Caught soomewhere in time" as they are the lyrics. How you can even think it that the sound "ty" is the sound "tur" I don't know. It doesn't even come close to sounding like that. anyway, good song about someone who's got power over time and can go anywhere, I think. |

This song is truly brilliant. They played it when I went to see them live in December. Truly awesome. Suddenly, out of nowhere, there's a cry of "CAN I PLAY WITH MADNESS?" and the whole crowd goes nuts. Brilliant song. I think it might be about some guy who's with a prophet. The guy wants to know the future to gain power etc. and the prophet isn't gonna give it to him. The guy annoys the prophet by shouting things like "Don't lie don't say you don't know it". In the end the prophet reveals that the guy is gonna burn in hell. |

Oh, and it definately says on the inside of the No Prayer for the Dying sleeve that this got to number 1 on December 24th and stayed there for 2 weeks. That makes it Christmas number 1. |

Exactly. This is a truly brilliant song. It's definately about all the dog fights in world war 2 happening during the battle of Britain. That's fight between planes, not literally between dogs by the way. A song about dogs fighting wouldn't be a good song. |

I'm sorry, but saying that you hate Bruce Dickinson is sacriledge. He's the greatest singer of all time ever and no one will even come close to being as good as him. Blaze was a great singer too, and the only reason that lots of people don't like him much was that he was always being compared to Bruce (obviously, as he replaced him) and therefore always seems bad in comparison. But everyone's bad in comparison. Bruce is the coolest singer ever, and that's the way it's gonnna be for the rest of all time. |

This was the first Maiden song I ever heard (on Vice City, by the way) and it is one of the greatest songs ever recorded.
It's about the Cold war and how close we came to having a huge nuclear war that could have destroyed the world and cause a nuclear winter, which would have made it dark for years (hence "midnight is all night"). The actual line "2 minutes to midnight" is saying how close it was to happening, "midnight" representing the Cold War and "2 minutes" representing how close the war was. |

I can't believe that this song was added in June 2001 and it took until Sempter 9th 2002 for someone to figure out that this is based on the charge of the light brigade. Live Bruce even quotes "Into the valley of death rode the 6 hundred. Cannon to the left of them, cannon to the right of them, volleyed and thundered." How much more obvious can you get?

I personally think that all the songs on Number of the Beast are good. Obviously, Run to the Hills, Number of the Beast and Hallowed Be Thy Name are going to be counted as better because they're classics, but I don't think there should be a title of the worst song on the album.
The song is obviously about a prostitute. It doesn't take the smartest person alive (me) to figure that out. |

Has anyone ever read "Bloodtide" by Melovin Burgess? I think they made this song about it, or there are some odd coincidences:
"Playing God without mercy without fear" the people act as though they are God by creating life and the such, and show no remorse
"Chasing dreams" the characters all have dreams, as that's the point of books in general
"Create a beast" people creat man-beasts to keep the gangsters in London
"made a man without a soul" enough said. They make a man without a soul
"a war of god and man" there is war and man and god get caught up in it, though not much god, but enough.
"new Frankenstein" they creat a man without a soul
"I want to end my life now" I'm not sure, as I haven't read it for a while, but I think the main woman wants to end her life for quite a while, but doesn't
"The spawn of a man, the devil has planned" The man created is pure evil
So yeah, it might be about that book |

Have any of you ever read ANY of the album covers? I think it's in the Number of the BEast one where it gives the opening verse to Number of the Beast and then a Bible reference. Look it up and you will see the opening part to Number of the Beast, but in slightly different words. Therefore, it's pretty easy to conclude that they found the quote and made a song about it, rather than watching the Omen and having nightmares. He may have done that too, but Revelations is definatly a key part. |

I think that the song is about the ancient Greek Agamemnon, who had to sacrifice his daughter, Iphinginia, to get a favourable wind so he could sail his army to Troy. His daughter was saved at the last minure by Athena with a stag in her place, but that didn't stop Agamemnon's wife, Clytemnestra, from killing him when he got back from Troy. Typical, survives 10 years war, and then gets killed by his own wife.
I think this song actually was Christmas number 1, if you look on the inside of one of the covers of one of the albums, it say got to number one before Christmas and stayed there for 2 weeks, or something. But that muight just be my imagination. |

I don't think it's better when sung by dickinson, it's just different when Blaze sings it, rather than worse. The fact that Bruce sings it live also helps him a lot. Sorry about adding another clansman lyric, I thought that it had been left out (I didn't think to look under "T" for The Clansman) and so I was irate and wrote my own lyric. This is also my favourite song. I have a huge clansman flag and it's easily the best Eddie on it, I think. |
