Has anybody else noticed the strong similarity of this song's piano to the piano in "Mad World" by Gary Jules?

Sarah McLachlan – Train Wreck Lyrics 19 years ago
I disagree completely with that comment. I think it's all about how wonderful someone is to her that he has the power to heal all past wounds simply by touching her. It's about being so truly happy and deeply in love with someone that the whole world is made better because of them.

Faith No More – The Real Thing Lyrics 20 years ago
fucking heroin? Fuck that! This song doesn't like any drug nonsense to me. Why does everyone think all songs are about heroin?

I think this song sounds more like the birth of a child, and perhaps the birth and course of the love that produced this child. The trials and tribulations of life.. the real thing. Besides look at "zombie Eaters", that's about a kid, no doubt. ( or maybe just a really immature man)

Faith No More – Epic Lyrics 20 years ago
This is my favorite album of all time. After many years of careful consideration, I've come to the conclusion that this song must be about "LOVE" and all the things that it can do or mean.

Though I think the whole masturbation/orgasm philosophy is an interesting view as well.lol.

and holy shit man, "Jove" is on serious crack!

Ok whatever it's true meaning is, I don't care. It truly means something more to me that some carzed psycho fan. Silverpuppiez, I feel for you, I'm going through it too, and I hope it worked out for you. Shining Peace, I fell your interpretation has to be the closest to what I'd lke the song to be about.

Sarah McLachlan – Good Enough Lyrics 20 years ago
Oh shit, just had an epiphany, I think this song is from the view point of a man that loves Sarah, and she's still emotionally torn from being in an abusive relationship. Now the reason I feel this way is because of the " shaken to the bone " reference. It seems like a direct reference to the song " I do what I have to" I actually had an interpretation of that song being totally different, but as I think more about it, I come to the conclusion that it may very well be about an abusive relationship.

Sarah McLachlan – Do What You Have To Do Lyrics 20 years ago
Hmm. I think everyone here has touched on the meaning, but to me it's a little different. I feel like it's about her being so completely in love with someone that just isn't able to give her the same kind of love back. Whether it be because he doesn't feel the same, or because he isn't able to admit to that strong of a feeling. Perhaps she refers to him as a monster, because she can't believe he would be so cruel as to deny such a true love. She tries endlessly to do what he wants her to do, to leave it be, but she can't escape her own heart and the truth of the situation. The depth of the love shakes her to the core. Knowing that she won't be able to let this love go, scares her to death and leaves her burning in torment. At least this is what I percieve...perhaps I just know that torment all too well.

I have to say that Meltbolt deserves a litle credit on his intelligence alone. As for the interpretations afor mentioned, I think you've all got great points. I love Anne Rice, KaosAngel, but I'm not so sure this song was written for one of her characters.lol.

Soundgarden – Pretty Noose Lyrics 20 years ago
I definately see the one-sided relationship thing. I think everyone knows that feeling at some point. It's like being trapped in a noose made of your feelings. It's choking you and the other person has the rope in their hands cause when you love someone more than they love you, they always have that control.

And then sometimes you don't even have to love the person more for them to have the control, sometimes they're just evil and conniving hidden under a beautiful mask...hence the pretty noose.

Right, ok. So we've now taken it to insulting my mother rather than allowing me to have an opinion about music. Very mature. Born in 1986... are you even allowed to say "fuck"?

Btw, if my mom had lots of groupie sex with Johnny Cash, more power to her. However that still does not deter me from my original opinion in that Johnny's rendition sucksalotocock!

Coldplay – Yellow Lyrics 20 years ago
To me this song seems to be about a girl who can't appreciate her beauty. Perhaps she has an eating disorder. Yellow definately depicts a pallor sallowy skintone, and that's what you get when you're too thin and sickly. I think he's tried many times to be the one that succeeds in changing her self image, but failing... it tends to leave him distraught and very unsatisfied. He thinks she's "skin and bones" and pleads her to turn into something healthy and beautiful, but she can't see that. I think he may be using the phrase " bleed myself dry" as a metaphor of some sort, to describe the feeling of exerting oneself's energy and support on something that is draining and never ending, but still it's something he considers worth the sacrifice. To him, she shines like the stars... if only she could see that too.

So, in a sense, I think it's about a lovesong, sickness, and a color all rolled up into one plot. Beautifully Tragic.

Well, true enough it is only my opinion, and you're certainly entitled to your own. However this site is based entirely on the principal idea of opinions... and mine still stands strong! It's almost as bad as Faith Hill's rendition of Janis Joplin's hit " Piece of My Heart"....ALMOST!

A Perfect Circle – 3 Libras Lyrics 20 years ago
White Rob and Jondude11 have the most interesting ideas I think... but in all honesty, It was always my understanding that Maynard was not intended to be the lead singer. Trent Reznor supposedly had been first choice, but he did not come through. Evidently Maynard took the chance and flew with it by telling them he could sing the stuff and would they like him to do it? Now I'm sure Maynard may have played some part in the lyrics, perhaps either by writing some or altering previously written ones, however I'm under the impression that most of the lyrics and all the music was written before he joined. The new album definately has a lot of his imput, that's obvious and you can tell the difference in the writng styles. No matter... The band is phenominal and I'm quite thankful that they exist, because with Tool taking a few years off...I would definately have serious withdrawels.lol. At least we'll have maynard doing something in the meantime.

Stabbing Westward – Waking Up Beside You Lyrics 20 years ago
Although my love is not gone forever, he is far away. Whenever we're together, I can't help but think of this song as I truly do try and memorize every inch of him. I never knew I could be so consumed by the thought of one person. I miss him when he's gone. I know the feeling that was put into this song. To memorize all of those things about someone is very difficult. It's an awful feeling when you're with someone that makes you so happy and complete but you can't escape the lingering fact that they have to leave soon and it will be what seems an eternity before you're together again. I'm so beyond lucky that he's worth waiting for.

Alice in Chains – Got Me Wrong Lyrics 20 years ago
Well I don't know what the song is truly about, and I doubt if anyone ever will for reasons that needn't be mentioned. My take on it however is that there is a relationship between two lovers in which both are jaded by love. The lyricist feels it's about time that love turn out right, being that enough loves in his past have gone wrong. He speaks about the girl like she is afraid to take a chance on this love, as strong as it is. He doesn't want to miss the chance, cause it's been too long since anything has touched him this way, unfortunately she doesn't trust in it enough.

Alice in Chains – Angry Chair Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is fun to analyze, and it happens to be my favorite. I miss Alice in Chains, it's a true loss. I feel like an ass putting my own interpretation on here, but to hell with it, I want to.

"Sitting on an angry chair
Angry walls that steal the air
Stomach hurts and I don't care"

( The reference to the childhood punishment seems fitting as a mild reference, though I feel that he's in the midst of a drug high and it's making him sick but he will continue to do it, cause it feels good. Drugs work that way)

"What do I see across the way, hey
See myself molded in clay, oh
Stares at me, yeah I'm afraid, hey
Changing the shape of his face, aw yeah"

( Definitely see the part about the sculpture he made of him as a child. He's looking at it while under the influence or after the fact, and it scares and sickens him to see such innocence lost in himself. He's ashamed of what he's become-'changing the shape of his face')

"Candles red I have a pair
Shadows dancing everywhere
Burning on the angry chair

Little boy made a mistake, hey
Pink cloud has now turned to gray, oh
All that I want is to play, hey
Get on your knees, time to pray, boy"

( Making reference to him being a child again, making a mistake. A dream he had of who he was going to be turned bad. An almost sarcastic reference to him wanting to play all day, and comparing it to his drug use and how it's ruined him. Better pray he can still save himself, but he let's that almost apatetic sarcasm through just enough to wash away any chance of reformation.)

"I don't mind, yeah
I don't mind, I-I-I
Lost my mind, yeah
But I don't mind, I-I-I
Can't find it anywhere
I don't mind "

( Apathy towards the tragedy of his life, bittersweet feeling)

"Corporate prison, we stay, hey
I'm a dull boy, work all day, oh
So I'm strung out anyway, hey "

( Stunning lyrics. He's saying that in life you're doomed to a corporate imprisonment, you must work all day and all your life, just to live. He finds it better to be in an alternate reality, why not be strung out on drugs while you're wasting your life anyway.)

"Saw my reflection and cried, hey
So little hope that I died, oh
Feed me your lies, open wide, hey
Weight of my heart, not the size, oh "

( He looks in the mirror one day and it all unfolds on him. The realization of how much he's wasted is too much to bare. He knows he's doomed, but he'll let people go ahead and try to tell him that it's not too late to change and save himself. " weight of my heart not the size" is a reference to an old Egyptian legend... evidently when a ancient Egyptian died, I believe probably a royal or one that was high up, maybe even a god or goddess... their heart was measured against the weight of a feather, and that is how they were rewarded. So if one's heart is big, but it is weighed down by a life lived badly, it is not as worthy. ( I'm hoping I got the reference correct, I'm only going by what I can remember I was told of the legend) These lines are pretty deep.)

Very prophetic song lyrics I think, amazing how he seemed to be complacent to his impending doom

Fiona Apple – Fast as You Can Lyrics 20 years ago
Ok, I seriously think Fiona would be disgusted if she saw some of these shallow comments. I'm pretty damn sure the song is about her having a track record of hurting men, deliberately? who knows... but this one has gotten in somehow. She's frightened of that, and even more frightened that she'll hurt him and every guy she tries to date. She's warning him to try and scare him away so she can have the cold comfort of knowing she tried to prevent it. She's just describing what kind of person she is and can be. Bitter about a lot of things in life and " my pretty mouth will frame the phrases that will disprove your faith in man" is basically saying that she's got a lot of opinions about the world and she's not shy about voicing them, whether it destroys someone's outlook or not. The song is all about her giving warning to a guy, but underneath it all she wants it to work, she's practically daring him to try and bare with her faults.

Radiohead – Creep Lyrics 20 years ago
I love this song, to me it is the best Radiohead song, and for that reason alone I'm appalled by the fact that they don't want to play it live. It's the fans that keep them going, whether or not they like the sound of that notion, is too bad. It's the truth, so what a fan wants to hear when they see them in concert should matter. It's insulting to think that their foolish pride would overcome the fan's happiness.

Also, please stop rating people by how much Radiohead they like or how many albums they own. It's only important that they enjoy what they do like, you enjoy the rest on your own time.

...and though I may not completely agree with their comments, Stonor, and Ramthar definately provided some comic relief.

VAST – Song Without A Name Lyrics 20 years ago
This song perfectly describes the many times my love and I tried to say "I love you" but couldn't. We wwould just stare at eachother for hours, too scared to take the step, and too confused by the other to read anything right. We finally made it though, once we learned to trust in the fact that we always seem to be thinking the same thing. " I woke up LA" has the same sort of feel to it.

VAST – I'm Dying Lyrics 20 years ago
I'd say this song is about the undeniability of death forecoming. He's bitter about it and he's bitter about the fact that he's supposed to believe in something that bares no proof. He begs for some evidence, something to give him a reason to believe.

This song is so powerful. To me it speaks about the fragility of life and that is important to me, there truly is no day that I don't think about the possibility of dying. Life is cruel sometimes, but death is much more cruel.

This song makes me think of someone I love dearly, as do most things, lol. He consumes my being, and it's a wonderful thing. I was very apathetic to life and jaded by love till I met him, so was he.. He's certainly put feeling and a burning passion back into my life, that spark I thought was gone. I like to think I do the same for him. I am truly lucky.
