Queen – Stone Cold Crazy Lyrics 19 years ago
I quite like the Metallica version of the song but I did think it was kind of lame that they had to change the lyrics the way they did. All they really did was change certain words for swear words which just shows tremendous lack of creativity,

Arch Enemy – Silverwing Lyrics 20 years ago
I've no idea what this song means but I fucking love it!

submissions
Arch Enemy – Leader Of The Rats Lyrics 20 years ago
I think this song is about music critics who constantly belittle artists while contributing nothing worthwhile to the world.

The lyrics remind me of Virus by Iron Maiden.

Chimaira – Salvation Lyrics 20 years ago
It sounds like it's about someone with chronic depression who has finally decided they will end their life.

Chimaira – Nothing Remains Lyrics 20 years ago
I think it is intended to read like a suicide note.

Iron Maiden – Caught Somewhere In Time Lyrics 20 years ago
Actually I have to agree with anthrax. The way he sings does kind of sound like "Caught somewhere in tyuuuuurrrrmmmm!"

Anyway, I fucking LOVE this song. It's definitely my favourite off the album and probably in my top 5 Maiden songs.

Iron Maiden – The Phantom of the Opera Lyrics 20 years ago
That's not entirely accurate. The Phantom of the Opera was a originally a book, although it has been adapted for the stage (and cinema) a few times, most notable the Andrew Lloyd Webber version. This song was written before then, I hasten to add!

Kreator – Voices Of The Dead Lyrics 20 years ago
I bloody love this song. It's easily my favourite on Enemy of God.

3 Inches of Blood – Deadly Sinners Lyrics 20 years ago
There's a lot of new metal bands cropping up recently who can actually play. 3 Inches of Blood, Arch Enemy etc. all bringing back the heavy metal tradition of blinding riffs, blistering solos etc.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a complete lack of decent vocalists to go with them, which is a shame really. Take 3IOB for example: It's like listening to the bastard love child of Ronnie James Dio and Angela Gossow. It really grates after a while.

System of a Down – B.Y.O.B. Lyrics 20 years ago
I'm with dougie. System of a Down rock but their Michael Moore style politics just irritate me.

Iron Maiden – Age Of Innocence Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is about the current state of British law, how it favours the criminal over the victim. I think it is a specific reaction to the Tony Martin case which featured prominently in the British press. The basic jist of it is that an old farmer was jailed for shooting dead a burglar who had broken into his home.

Iron Maiden – Afraid To Shoot Strangers Lyrics 21 years ago
I always interpreted this song to be about how horrible war is, and yet at the same time acknowledging that sometimes it is necessary:

"But how can we let them go on this way?
The reign of terror corruption must end
And we know deep down there's
no other way "

Iron Maiden – 22 Acacia Avenue Lyrics 21 years ago
IMO, this is one of the best songs on Number of the Beast. It's certainly better than Gangland, Invaders and Run to the Hills.

submissions
Metallica – Creeping Death Lyrics 21 years ago
The song may well have been inspired by the movie The Ten Commandments, but where the fuck do you think the story came from? THE BIBLE, FUCKTARDS.

Everybody knows the story without having seen the movie, although the title almost certainly came from the movie's respresentation of the Angel of Death.

Plus, just because they wrote about a bible story doesn't make them god-botherers. They obviously just thought it was a cool story. It's like how loads of idiots thought Iron Maiden were devil worshippers because of The Number of the Beast.

Alice Cooper – Hey Stoopid Lyrics 21 years ago
Well yes. Quite.

Alice Cooper – Billion Dollar Babies Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is a reference to their own fame. Despite the fact they were all still relatively young at the time, they were earning shitloads in royalties.

Alice Cooper – Ballad Of Dwight Fry Lyrics 21 years ago
A brilliant, but fairly disturbing, song.

submissions
Manic Street Preachers – Stay Beautiful Lyrics 21 years ago
I doubt they dropped the line simply because they wanted to release it as a single. Don't forget they were going to release Yes as a single but they refused to remove the Cunts line.

Queen – In the Lap of the Gods... Revisited Lyrics 21 years ago
On the LAW DVD they just do one verse and then repeat the chorus over and over ad nauseum. The original song is better because there is a second verse, which is absolutely beautiful. That said, they do repeat the chorus over and over on that as well but at least you get another proper verse!

Queen – Flick Of The Wrist Lyrics 21 years ago
I agree with mecury_girl's analysis. I think it is a precursor to Death on Two legs, and is basically about money grubbing record bosses who like to stiff hard working bands like queen in order to make a profit.

"Dislocate your spine if you don't sign he says " I don't think that's meant literally but I can picture the scene: Freddie and the boys reading through a somewhat dubious record contract and the big fat cigar smoking boss threatning with something like "if you don't sign I'll see you never work in music again!!!!"

Manic Street Preachers – Solitude Sometimes Is Lyrics 21 years ago
It's the opposite really. According to nicky, it's actually about wanting to be alone sometimes, because nowadays the emphasis is always on social activities and you are considered a weirdo for wanting to just spend some time with yourself sometimes.

I know exactly how he feels, which is why I love this song so much. My friends always want to do stuff and if I suggest that I just want to be alone with my thoughts for a bit they think I am some kind of freak. Just to clarify: I'm not depressed, I just like time to myself now and then.

Like Nicky himself said, not even traditionally solitary activities like reading can be enjoyed anymore with, say, joining a book club etc.

Even though this song is considered a classic by most, I always found it to be somewhat mediocre.

Manic Street Preachers – Yes Lyrics 21 years ago
The line "he's a boy, you want a girl so tear off his cock
tie his hair in bunches, fuck him, call him Rita if you want " is, in my opinion, about consumerism and an attempt to show the absurdity of the capitlist mantra of "supply and demand." IE, just because somebody wants something doesn't necessarily mean they should get it.

Manic Street Preachers – The Masses Against The Classes Lyrics 21 years ago
I never thought this song really means what the title would suggest at face value.
I tend to agree with my nothing's analysis except I would say it is aimed more at the so-called "fans" who constantly bitch about how the MSP have got more commercial (Success is an ugly word
Especially in your tiny world )/crap after Richey left and so on.

I think the line "I'm tired of giving a reason " is them saying they're fed up of having to justify everything they do to the aforementioned so-called fans. They believe in the future, nothing stays the same etc. if you don't like the music they are putting out now then piss off and spend all day listening to the Holy Bible and feeling nostalgic.

Manic Street Preachers – The Love Of Richard Nixon Lyrics 21 years ago
like Himynameis said, it is not so much pro or anti Nixon but more an exploration of how people can go down in history for one thing they've done (IE Watergate) no matter what good they've done as well. Even now, the only thing most people remember about Nixon is the Watergate scandal.

Online: I'm afraid the war on cancer reference is literal. Nixon poured lots of money into cancer research and so it was dubbed his "war on cancer."

Manic Street Preachers – Stay Beautiful Lyrics 21 years ago
I agree about the cutting of the line "fuck off." I think it is some kind of a statement against all the bands who pepper their songs with swear words just for the sake of it, or indeed just to be notorious.

Manic Street Preachers – Roses In The Hospital Lyrics 21 years ago
This song/video was featured on the Forever Delayed DVD. Obviously CDs have much smaller capacity so they had to prioritise and, I presume, only include the songs that charted highest.

Manic Street Preachers – Repeat (UK) Lyrics 21 years ago
This is a great rocker (unlike its shitty US counterpart) but lyrically I think it is quite shallow, especially for the manics.

Manic Street Preachers – P.C.P. Lyrics 21 years ago
To think of issues such as political correctness purely in left/right terms over simplifies the issue. I think, although they claim to be Marxists, the evidence of their lyrics would seem to suggest they are more left/libertarian, whereas a Marxist ideology would be more like left/authoritarian. How they can claim to Marxists and pepper their videos with statements like "When freedom exists there will be no state" I'll never know.

With regards to this song, I think the political correctness they are talking about doesn't so much refer to the kind of PC that victimises people for saying "paki", but more the kind of health fascism which says anything that is bad for you should be banned. Hence the lines about smokers and fat people.

submissions
Manic Street Preachers – Faster Lyrics 21 years ago
I always think the first few lines refer to communism, which is what the Manics believe (or believed) in. It could be about how they believe they are creating something great (I am an architect) but how most in the west revile it (they call me a butcher) and so forth.
As for the rest of it, I've never been able to even hazard a guess what it could possibly be about!

Iron Maiden – Hallowed Be Thy Name Lyrics 22 years ago
I always feel that songs with christianity related titles are about the writer feeling bitter about the church for some reason. You can almost feel as if "Hallowed be thy Name" is meant in a sarcastic way. I think it is probably about the 17th century witchhunts since they were more or less instigated by the church.

Iron Maiden – Sign of the Cross Lyrics 22 years ago
Typical heavy metal christian bashing song.

Queen – The Show Must Go On Lyrics 22 years ago
Brian May wrote this as a kind of tribute to the way Freddie kept on making music right to the end even though he knew death was coming. Brian definately knew about this when he wrote it because as soon as Freddie knew he had AIDs he got all the band members together and told them.

Queen – We Are The Champions Lyrics 22 years ago
It's obviously about just about a group of people (not neccesarily the band) who have fought hard over the years to reach their current position, i.e. they've achieved all they can achieve and more. They're saying it hasn't been easy but they've finally made it and stuff. A very inspirational song I think.

Queen – One Vision Lyrics 22 years ago
actually it was originally written about martin luther king. I think they might have changed it slightly to work in the film Iron Eagle.

Metallica – Stone Cold Crazy (Queen cover) Lyrics 22 years ago
i noticed they changed a few lyrics to make it more aggressive such as "Rainy afternoon on a killer typhoon" was "Rainy afternoon, gotta blow a typhoon" and "with a fully loaded tommy gun" in the original was "with a rubber tommy water gun" and "try fuckin' getta me,
gotta fuckin' get up and run" was "he's gonna come and get me, I gotta get me get up and run"

Metallica – My Friend Of Misery Lyrics 22 years ago
I think it might be about someone who is really really annoying and yet thinks everyone loves him. He also constantly complains about having a bad life and stuff without even caring that people have much worse situations than him. I'm not sure how it would fit in but just a side note i think the line; "The empty can rattles the most." means the stupidest people have very strong opinions and voice them whereas intelligent people tend to keep quiet.

Metallica – The God That Failed Lyrics 22 years ago
I always just assumed this was a fairly straight forward typical heavy metal anti-christian song.
