This song is definitely about an addiction to any intervenus drug that tore apart a relationship. Most likely heroin because it's the most addictive, but also, quite possibly cocaine. Gavin may not have been an addict himself, but he is certainly telling the story from the standpoint of one.
The line "I couldn't change, though I wanted to." can apply to both relationships and serious drug abuse.
Addiction of one partner can cause the other to suffer extreme emotional pain and self doubt. Basically, you're all right. |
