| Emilie Autumn – Gothic Lolita Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I just wanted to throw this out there for people that might not know the definition of Lolita (I looked it up). Lolita means: A sexually precocious young girl. I had no idea. I had only ever known Lolita as the fashion trend. This really shocked me. Anyway, I agree with the sexual abuse theory. And about the song itself, I think the music is beautiful and the lyrics are haunting and sad but her voice really grates on me. Am I the only one who feels this way? |

| Neutral Milk Hotel – A Baby for Pree Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think this is about two teenagers (Pree and her boyfriend). They think they're in love, thus they have sex. "Blistering Pree, all smiling and swollen" I see this, not as blistering and swollen and smiling from her pregnancy (though probably foreshadowing) but from her arousal. "Makes babies to breathe With their hearts hanging open all over the sheets As soft as beets in some brown dresser drawer"" They're "in love" and showing their feelings by... well... making babies "And with bees in her breath and the rest of her ringing They'll sting through her chest with a force hard and beating Till wonderfully wet she will get Until she's soaked inside her clothes And there is no sorry to be sorry for" At this moment, they're happy and showing their love in the most intimate manner and they're -happy- because they aren't thinking about the consequences. "For a roll around the floor some afternoon so sound and soft It made her swallow all her sweat With every bit of breath she coughs" She can't believe that something that beautiful and pure had such a life ruining effect. "And when the day it came to pour all her babies All across the bathroom floor She will be swimming in them all forever more" I think this is... either she miscarried and died during or she aborted and then killed herself. I'm not positive. This whole thing is probably very scattered but I hope it's at least readable. |

| Matt Pond PA – In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (Neutral Milk Hotel cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This version... okay so it wasn't as horrid as it could have been... but it was -bad.- I just... people were saying on the Neutral Milk lyrics that this version was better and so I decided to give it a shot. I got it from iTunes and listened with an (mostly) open mind. And I'm sorry, but it didn't even come -close- to comparing. It was too... god I can't even think of the words. In short though, I didn't like it, but it could have been worse. |

| The Mountain Goats – Going to Alaska Lyrics | 19 years ago |

"I am going to Alaska, where the animals can kill you but they do so in silence, as though if no one hears them then it really won't matter." Favorite line of the song. One of my favorite songs in the Going To series. |
|
| Simon and Garfunkel – Save The Life Of My Child Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Woah. Vishal, I completely disagree. I think it's more about people -assuming- that everything is about drugs. The adults automatically say the boy is high, rather than thinking about the fact that the reason he's about to jump is because of actual feelings, they assume it's just drugs. And then the boy finally does jump because he realizes that even when he's throwing the effects of their assumptions in their faces, they don't stop. But that's just me. |

She had that look on her face that reminded me of you. I love that line. And also, of course, the end. Amazing song. |
|
| The Mountain Goats – Minnesota Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The use of blood, milk, oil, sweat, water, and alcohol is my favorite thing about this song. The most important liquids to human life. I love everything about this song. It's such a good example of Darnielle's writing style. Little things that matter more than they might seem. |
|
| The Mountain Goats – Going to Bridlington Lyrics | 19 years ago |

That's no weird. That's my favorite line in the song too. Anyway, I adore this song. It's amazing. Can't say I know what it's about though. |

| The Mountain Goats – There Will Be No Divorce Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song is unbelievabale. "and you gathered your hair behind your head like god was gonna catch you by the pony tail, and then the old voice crackled through the static. and i felt young and alive and the hair stood up on the back of my neck we were rising from the grave, yeah yeah." |
|
| The Mountain Goats – The Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Hahaha cracks me up every time, sailor. Anyway... this is an amazing song. "When you punish a person for dreaming his dream don't expect him to thank or forgive you." Such a good line. Amazing song. Wish I could see it in concert... |

| Simon and Garfunkel – Save The Life Of My Child Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Unbelievable. Gorgeous song. | |
| The Mountain Goats – Alpha Rats Nest Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Ah the end of the Alpha's. They were what got me into The Mountain Goats. I'd heard little bits of their stuff but as soon as my brother explained to me the concept (and played a few songs for me) of Tallahassee, I was hooked. So of course, the end saddens me. But I don't believe it could have been more perfect. The hope that lingers on even in the end. Or at least the acceptance. The ability to look back with fond memories. God. Amazing. | |
| The Mountain Goats – Oceanographer's Choice Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song seems like yet another moment in the Alpha Couple's twisted time together. The knowledge that it's going to end, despite their efforts, and maybe one last shot to stop that from happening. The passion and hatred and love in this is incredible. "What will I do when I don't have you When I finally get what I deserve?" |
|
| The Mountain Goats – Old College Try Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"In the way those eyes I've always loved illuminate this place Like a trashcan fire in a prison cell Like the searchlights in the parking lots of hell" I cannot imagine a better simile existing. Ever. Each time I hear this song, that line makes me stop short. Beautiful. Anyway, this song is sad. But so, so hopeful. It's about a couple that's falling apart but determined to stay together. They love each other but can't help fighting constantly because they're both so messed up. Yet they love each other. |
|
| The Mountain Goats – No Children Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The reason I love this song to no end, is that while it's depressing and sung from the point of view of a man with a lot of horrible things going on and a lot of endings as well, there's a certain hope. They are bitter lyrics, of course, but look at the line "You are coming down with me, hand in unlovable hand" yes, they are going down. But they are doing it together. I think that's what this whole album is about. Everything around them disintegrating, they lose everything, but through it all they -can't- stop loving each other. I mean, Old College Try is still to come. One of the most bitter yet undeniably hopeful songs I've ever heard. Anyway, I'm done rambling. Even if I'm completely off base here, this is still an amazing song. |

I'm afraid to comment on this song. It feels as if I do I'll somehow ruin it. It's indescribable. The violin in the chorus... indescribable. |

| Dave Matthews Band – Christmas Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| P.S. I think it's kind of amusing that at the top of this page for me, there's an ad or something that says, real big, "Jesus didn't exist?" | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Christmas Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Ok, mbckeeper, just... how do I say this? I agree with you on all of that. I can see why Christians would become defensive about this (I myself was raised Christian). But... just because they have the right to become defensive about it means very little. Anyone has the right to be defensive about their beliefs. If this song does attack that faith entirely (which I don't believe it does...) then ok. Don't listen to it if it bothers you or if the song itself doens't but what people are saying about it, don't read what they're saying. Everyone has a right to interpret this and all songs however they want. And also, I completely and utterly agree with every single thing wade419 just said. My own personal view on this song is that Dave was talking about how wonderful Jesus' message was but how throught history it has been so horribly diluted. How, throught histroy, the wonderful message Jesus gave us has been lost in favor of his divinity and many other things the Christian Church now teachs rather than what it was originally all about. I myself don't know whether or not I believe Jesus was the son of God. I was certiently raised to believe that. But, even though I (like Dave I believe) question this, I think it's kind of impossible to disagree with Jesus' original message or the message of this song. Just love. That's what it's all about. There's hatred and horrible things in te world, there always is going to be, but you have to rise above it (forgive for the cliche). Just... don't focus so much on the hatred. Yes, it's there, but so is the love. And, in the end, love matters more. Either way, Dave is an amazing songwriter and I would like nothing more than to meet him and find out, once and for all, what many of his songs mean. Most particularly this and Warehouse. It's fun to guess but sometimes... you just want to know for sure. And only Dave does. |

| Dave Matthews Band – Pig Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Ok, I'm posting again. Wow. Sorry everyone for the three in a row. Anyway though, to TJBC, in my opinion, Dave is without a doubt not Christian. And I don't believe he respects the religion at all. I think he believes in God to an extent but doens't like organized religion. I think lots of people think he's a Christain because of songs like "Christmas Song" but during one of his live shows, he said something along the lines of "You can take this song any way you want, but I just wrote it about a guy who got screwed." I think he's definitely spiritual, but not necessarily religious. Ok, I promise I won't post again right now. |
|
| Dave Matthews Band – Pig Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Wow... I just have to say... bigwhitt... if you perhaps see this... do you honestly think that all this song is about is Marijuanna? Cause I gotta say, if you do, I doubt you are a Dave fan. Cause while that may be an element... there's so much more to it than that. I've yet to hear a single Dave song that has one meaning. This one in particular is about a lot of things in my opinion. | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Pig Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Rubberneck_26, I completely agree. "Is this not enough? This blessed sip of life, is it not enough? Staring down at the ground, we complain and pray we need more from above like some greedy little pig" is my single favorite line in not only any dave song, but any song, period. And he played it. Oh gods he played it at the concert I just recently went to. Jesus... best night in my entire life. I thought I was going to die. Dave... is amazing. The Gorger version of this song is incomparable. It is like nothing else. | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Seek Up Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
It is live trax vol. 1 I was thinking about. This song... it's the most passionate dave song I've ever heard. And my second favorite. It's topped only by Pig. Which, even though Dave called it a dime a dozen, is amazing. Anyway... more people should post about this song. it deserves it. It's just that amazing. |
|
| Dave Matthews Band – Seek Up Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Alright, I just heard the Red Rocks version of this for the first time, and while I liked it a lot, it wasn't as good... wasn't as passionate as the version I was talking about up there ^^. Which I -think- is from live trax vol. 1. I shall find out | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Seek Up Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Ok, I'm not sure what album the version of this song I listen to is on. It's 18:23 and it has the some of the best vocals I have ever heard from not just dave, but anyone. And the violin... omygod. It is the song that made me want to marry Boyd. It is out of this world. I just wish I knew what album it was from. | |
| Panic! at the Disco – Build God, Then We'll Talk Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| Something Corporate – Space Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| soo.. i just bought north off itunes (i already have leaving through the window) and let me just say... this song is unbelievable. i seriously can't stop listening to it. it's not my favorite something corporate song... that honor (ha like it's an honor pshhh) will always go to konstantine. although i think this beat out punk rock princess. | |
| Something Corporate – Heroine Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| ok i just heard this and i really liked it (especially because it reminded me of konstantine and that's my favorite something corporate song) but i still think punk rock princess is better. true this has a lot of feeling in it but it seems kind of.. fake. compared to PRP. i just think the lyrics kind of go better with the louder and faster pace of PRP. that's just me though. and this is still amazing. as all something corporate songs are. | |
| Something Corporate – Punk Rock Princess Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| man i love something corporate. i first heard konstantine and it was all i could listen to for almost a month. then i found this and now all i can listen to is this, konstantine, and a few other songs from leaving through the window. and to all the people who say they want to be someone's punk rock princess... i'm with you there... but i'd still rather be someone's konstantine. something corporate is amazing. | |
| Something Corporate – Konstantine Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| For some reason this song says to me… two people who are just friends but get drunk and fool around. and then later he says that it can’t be anything (maybe he has a girlfriend or something) and yet he can’t forget about her. And it ends up happening again and again but he refuses to let it be more because he’s afraid to and then finally she ends it. And the “I can spell konfusion with a k” line, I think is just showing how he can’t determine what he’s feeling and is all confused by her. And yet he wouldn’t change things because he finds himself caring about her. And then the line “I’m not your star” he has a girlfriend and she’s saying that he’s not supposed to be with her right then. But in the end.. even though he knows he hurt her and they could never be together again.. she’s still his Konstantine, the person he always goes back to, the person he can’t forget. But then I have many other views on this as well. I can’t decide. That’s just what I’m thinking at the moment. | |

| Dave Matthews – Gravedigger Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i personally think that this song id about not wanting to die and wanting to hold on to some part of living once you dao, i think thats what the line "when you dig my grave could you make it shallow so that i can feel the rain" is about not wnating to truly die.. hopes that made sense but thats just how i see it | |
| Dave Matthews Band – The Dreaming Tree Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i personally think this is about how everyone grows up and loses their imagination but wants it back and how we are all born and we are serene and happy but as we grow up we get problems and issues and we lose that happiness we had, also i think its about nature and how we are losing the beauty of nature and are replacing it with cities | |

| Dave Matthews Band – The Last Stop Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i donht think this song is about jesus, tho i do thik it has religion in it.i think this song is about war. its about people coming to power and deciding that they get to do whatever they want and basically play god. its about all the unessicary killing happening and people using god to say their cause is just, using god as a way to get more power. i think its about things like the crusades when people said they were doing it for god or bacause god wanted them to but they were really just doing it for personal gain | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Don't Drink the Water Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| ok... this song isn't about the american indians.. its about africa and how they were persecuted.. i mean come on dave grew up in africa | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Dancing Nancies Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| ok.. i also heard that the title comes from the "dancing nancies" he saw on a street corner and this song is about how you shouldn't put other people down because of their job or how they live because in another life you could have been the same. dave is basically saying here that you shouldn't judge others by what they have because you could have been like that too if you had the same things happen in your life, i think its also dave wondering about it all, everything, like why he is who he is and not someone else ... amazing song, amazing message | |
| Dave Matthews Band – One Sweet World Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| okay definetly one of my favorite dave songs because it makes me appriciate what i have and that im alive | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Warehouse Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
the warehouse is earth ( i think its blatantly obvious when he says "This I admit tastes so good Hard to believe an end to it Smell touch feel How could this rhythm ever quit Bags packed on a plane Hopefully to heaven" i mean you can smell thouch and feel here and you wonder how it could ever end though you know it has to but you just hope when it does you'll go to heaven) and the song is about dave thinking about it ending "My love I love to stay here My love I love to stay here In a corner I was wondering If a change would be better than this And then I worry Maybe things won't be better than they have been Here in the warehouse At the warehouse How I love to stay here At the warehouse Every man and woman Get alive" thats dave wanting not to die or to leave earth because death is an unknown and that scares him as it does all people and he finally decides that we cant waste our life worrying about it ending we need to just get alive.. though i do think its also about the warehous he used to live in because hes sitting there afraid of leaving because it feels safe and outside he could die but at the end the warehouse is finally bare and empty and he realized that he shouldnt be afraid but be alive |

i was sitting listening to this and trying to pick a favorite part... at first i couldnt come up with one because the whole song is amazing.. but then i listened to the gorge version and when he says "Theres bad times But that's ok Just look for love in it Don't throw the day away" it fills me up so much.. i dont know how to describe it but i just become overwhelmed and i think any song that can do that to me has gotta be pretty damn good... pig is without a doubt my favorite song after seek up |

| Lifehouse – Hanging By A Moment Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| someone up there asked how you starve for truth with your gilfriend, well duh! i mean there are tonsa posibilities, the biggest being that hes scared she doesnt feel the same way and wants to know the truth... and to the people saying its dumb if its about god... why are you posting here???? i mean its all well and good for you to not believe in god but truly... keep it to yourself! would you want us running up to you basically screaming at you saying any music you listen to is dumb, cause thats basically what your doing... i mean, really, its fine for you to have your own beliifs, but please, keep um to yourself, we dont care | |
| Lifehouse – Hanging By A Moment Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i get that it could be about god, but i mean, you dont really fall in love with god.. and whoever up there said that if it was about a "chick" then it was a little obsessive... well thats what love is, completly comsuming, if you really love the person, o and even if they are a christan band, that doesnt mean ALL their songs are about god, thats not their entire life | |
| Lifehouse – Unknown Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i think thgis song is about someone who knows all the scientific explanations for things but doesnt care and knows inside that there is a god and the line "And if this night won't let me rest Don't let me second guess What I know to be real" means, to me that they know god is real and doesnt want to second guess what he know is true and he doesnt care about the scientific explanations cause he knows god is there, great song, great meaning | |
| Dispatch – The General Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
ok, i havent heard much dispatch so i may get this totally wrong but, to me, the general as an old man who is looking back on his life wishing he hadnt wasted his time always trying to "fight" and he just wished he had taken the time to just live without always worrying about winning and hes telling men who are still young to just live life and be happy, i think hes telling them to do something with their lifes when he says "take a shower, shine your shoes, you got no time to lose, you are a young man you must be living" espically the "you got no time to lose" is like dont waste your life thinking and fighting against things that arent worth it, cause thats what he did and now hes old and dying and he wished he hadnt wasted his life.... ok, i was probably totally wrong, but thats what i think of when i hear this song and what it means to me... get out there and live life cause "you got no time to lose" |
