| Matt Mays And El Torpedo – Cocaine Cowgirl Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
It may be referring to the song "I'm A Gypsy Man"; however, I believe that "JJ's song" is quite likely an intended double-reference (which Matt Mays uses quite nicely) also referring to a song JJ Cale wrote called "Cocaine" (seems appropriate considering the theme of the song). Most people recognize it as an Eric Clapton tune, but Clapton only made it famous.
A story I've heard regarding that song (but not sure if it is entirely true) is, upon hearing the JJ Cale song, Clapton felt it was far too similar to his "Sunshine of Your Love" riff, and decided to cover Cale's tune and make it his own and make it much more popular than Cale would have. |

| The Used – Blue And Yellow Lyrics
|
my take on Blue and Yellow, not necessarily what the writer was feeling but what i feel and think, is that this song IS about love, or the lack thereof... its like a guy has feelings for a girl but the girl is unsure of her feelings... not knowing if what she feels is love or not and he's telling her that she'll know when she's in love, but for now, whether the relationship be doomed or not, he'd rather spend the time with her anyway because of his over powering feelings
thats my take anyways |

i'm not sure but it seems like it has something to do with God's and creation... and how the human race has taken everything for granted and "little by little" screwed things up... and left wondering why we are even here
i could be waaayyy off but ya never know, thats how i see it |

yea i don't know what this song is about but the suggestion that is about an abusive relationship is probably the most accurate... i guess no one will really know for sure...except Mr. Cornell |

This is probably my favourite Van Morrison song. I'm not really sure what Van's talking about, and I'm horrible at analyzing anything poetic, but I know it's about love, of some sort at least. I just love the music in this song and Van Morrison's unique voice just adds to it. Brings back a lot of good memories, too. |

| Tool – Schism Lyrics

I'm slightly confused as to what this song is about. It is my favourite Tool song. It's a dark song and the music video just plain creeps me out, probably because I just don't "get it". Reading up on this, I now know what Schism means and what the song could possibly be referring to but it's still confusing. I like this song for the music more than anything. Some songs have amazing lyrics that make the song all that it is; however, Schism is a song not about lyrics but about music. Thats how I feel about it, anyway. In fact, most of Tool's songs are so deep with music that I hardly pay attention to the lyrics. That is the sign of a brilliant musician, or composer. |

I'm not much of a Guns N Roses fan but I really like this song. The lyrics are so sad but also inspiring at the same time: "We still can find a way 'Cause nothin' lasts forever even cold November rain" It's like he's saying to look past the darkness and sadness in your life because it won't last forever because nothing does last forever, not even cold November rain. Great guitar solo and I really love the piano too... |

Quite possibly the best bad break-up song of all time?! For me personally it is, not that I had this bad of a break-up with any of my ex’s as the song expresses, but I really feel the lyrics: “Just think about, you’ll get it!” It just explains how messed up some relationships can be and it’s like Fred can’t take her shit anymore and he’s just gonna explode! (which he does end up doing at the end of the song). I admire the way the whole song is a climax of pent up frustrations all being released at the climax of the song in a harsh spew of vulgarity and torn emotions. Great bass-line, too! |

| Warren G – Regulate Lyrics

This is a rap song from the early 90’s that I just came across a few months ago while I was at my friend’s house burning a CD. He told me we should put this song on a CD because it was a cool song, especially for rap. Ever since then it has been one of my favourite rap songs. The way that Nate Dogg and Warren G put the song together like a story is great, because most rap songs don’t have much for content. This one tells a story about getting jumped and then bustin’ some caps on the punks who jumped you and then finding some ho’s and heading to a motel for some fun. This song also has no harsh swearing which is irregular for a rap song and I admire any rapper who can have a popular song without too much if not any foul language. This is me and my friend’s favourite song to listen to on a Saturday night before we go out partying! |

| I Mother Earth – So Gently We Go Lyrics

This is an amazing song with really odd lyrics. I'm not sure what it's supposed to be about but I can picture IME getting really high and writing this song. "Leave your sex at the door... come in, There's ecstasy for all (...) The reason we can do these things is that our minds are clouded and we can't see straight"... I think this song has a sense of mystery and uncertainty to it as well, it's like he asking what is the meaning to my life: "Psychodramatic means to uncertain ends (...)
Maybe I've played my part, but it's a player's art." Nonetheless, this is a classic song by IME at their peak. |

i simply can't believe that nobody has commented on this song! its one of the best IME songs out there, better than ANY of their new shit, cuz thats what they are without edwin, and whether he wrote the lyrics or not, he still made the band and the band made him cuz now that they separated they both suck! its too bad cuz they were a really good band |

| Tupac Shakur – Changes Lyrics

Tupac tells you flat out how it is in this world full of racism and hate. He's so honest in his words, this is the best Tupac song I've ever heard and probably will ever hear. It shows his struggle with his life growing up and his gang life and his struggle with the law, even his struggle with racism. The most ironic line ever to written in a song was written and quoted by Tupac in this song:
"'Cause I always got to worry 'bout the pay backs
some buck that I roughed up way back
comin' back after all these years
rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat
that's the way it is'"
Is that not pretty much exactly what happened to him? I guess what goes around comes around. |

| The Smashing Pumpkins – Disarm Lyrics

I feel horribly bad for anyone who went through such hell that they could write a beautiful/dark song about their parents and their childhood in general. This song is my favourite Smashing Pumpkins song for several reasons: it has so much feeling; I can listen to it over and over and never tire of it; I can almost feel the pain Billy's expressing through the lyrics and music. Just like dsfire said: Corgan said in an interview that he hated his parents and he didn't have the guts to kill them so he seeked out his revenge through this song and instead of having a loud, angry song of hate he tried to make a beautiful, soothing song with powerful lyrics to show his parents that he has tender feelings and he wanted to make them feel bad for treating him like shit his whole life. To me, that's genius in a sort of frightening way. |

War, what is it good for? Nothing, according to Rage in this song. I love the beat and the lyrics really hit you hard: "get tha Fuck off tha commode Wit tha sure shot, sure ta make tha Bodies drop" Such lyrical brutality but Rage speaks it how it is in this world.

Great guitar, very original! I'm not sure if this is my favourite song of RHCP of all time but it is definitely one of their best. The "alone" aspect of the song is alluring to me. I have many friends and close family so I'm anything but alone in my life, but there's always those moments in your life when you feel so very alone like Anthony seems to in this song. I heard this song was about a drug addict and maybe the drug addict was Anthony... or so I have read. "Under the bridge downtown, I gave my life away.... Here I stay" Simply amazing! |

This song is just amazing! The incredible build-up to the final chorus, and the overly depressing yet somehow soothing lyrics invade my senses and make me thankful that I'm not a bitter/depressed/hopeless teen who has to kill him/herself to make a statement... and to those who are, that's too bad, there is hope! |

I like this creed song better than most creed song. This song has feeling and emotion and you can feel the anger and frustration dwelling in Scott's lyrics. This song is apparently about racism and when I read the lyrics, I can see why: "Society blind by color why hold down one to raise another" |

I was never a huge fan of Lifehouse and i'm still not... it's actually quite ignorant of me because i've heard this song and i love it yet i don't seek out any of their other music...but at least i can admit it.
I was drunk one night and i was in my buddies car and me and him were both going thru the same depressing predicament with a different girl: "i love her!! she's everything, but what am i to her? merely a friend..."
he slipped his lifehouse cd into his cd player and i sat there and listened to "Everything" and i fell in love with that song right there and then even in the drunken state i was in.... i was so captured by the depth of emotion in the song i nearly started to cry.
no matter what, this song is magical no matter who it is or what it is about, it is an amazing song".... |

i was a little shocked when i read that this song is about a rape victim but the more i listend to it and read the lyrics it seems to make sense with what GQ85 said... i can see how it may have been inspired by a girl who was raped and murdered and thrown into the woods, hence "when the dogs begin to smell her, will she smell alone" ("will she smell alone" - will there be other murder victims the dogs will smell when they come to find her? just a thought) but i'm hoping that such a beautiful song couldn't possibly be about something so dark and gloomy... i'm hoping that some of you are right about it being about an obsessive love-lost relationship... |

i'm not sure what this song means, and i don't think anyone will ever truly know what it means. i agree with what acryczek wrote saying how the best thing about symbolism is there are no right or wrong answers so this song should mean to you whatever you want it to mean...
my friend who is also a major zep fan told me that this song was about some crazy drug trip that Robert Plant had and he wrote this song based on that .... i might be way off but seeing as how it seems to make little sense, my friend may have something here |
