| All – Think The World Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
well, while you're right sonargirl, i really think that whichever member wrote this song was really just trying to say "i don't care about anything at all." using a double negative is a natural feature in languages. english is one of the few languages that has a rule stating if you say "i do not care about nothing," you're really saying "i care about something." i mean, you could be right; but that wouldn't flow with the song at all. he's naming a whole lot of stuff he doesn't care about too much. so i think it's just using colloquial speech. i mean, most people i know use double negatives without even realizing it--because naturally we think of adding another negative to stress the negation, not to cancel it out, math style. how's that for sucking the fun out of a great song? haha. |

| Iron & Wine – Sixteen, Maybe Less Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
just a possibility: meeting his wife at a party when he drank too much could mean that he proposed to the same girl from the ridge at a party while he was drunk. personally, i think it's more of a regretting song. although the melody & progression seem to softly whisper a love that isn't based in regret. perhaps the narrator is finally content with having this old "first love" memory as only a memory. either way, it's an amazing song |

| Rainer Maria – Hell And High Water Lyrics | 19 years ago |

gabbyownsme, given the rest of the song, i think the line should probably read (with proper punctuation) That's when I know I should just drop everything and let her sing. She's a better version of me. You're expressing if there were a colon after sing, and then "she's a better version of me" would be what the unnamed girl the narrator speaks of would be singing. However, I feel if this unnamed girl were singing praises about the song's narrator, then it would go against the somewhat self-deprecating feel the song has to it. Just my take. |

| The Weakerthans – Saint Cecilia Lyrics | 20 years ago |

This song was originally released on a solo tape John K. did way back when called "Slips and Tangles." He also re-recorded it for a split he did circa '95 which, I believe, is titled Little Pictures (someone correct me if I'm wrong). I'll put the tracklisting here in case you can get your hands on that old solo tape, or are just interested. It's great, and it has a couple songs he later redid (and for some, renamed) for either Propagandhi or Weakerthans (I'll also eventually post the lyrics under a John K. Samson artist page): "Slips and Tangles" tape: 1. Slips and Tangles 2. Greenest Eyes 3. Airport Lounge 4. Unearthly Refrain 5. Happy Song 6. Sunday Afternoon 7. Summer Rain 8. Farewell Faded Memory 9. Velveteen 10. Maryland Bridge 11. Sympathetic Smile 12. Saint Cecilia 13. Little Pictures 14. A Story You Have Heard 15. Agonistes |

| Descendents – In Love This Way Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I agree that more people should post comments about descendents, and just plain listen to them more :) ! I think we've all been in love with a friend at least in one point in our lives, Milo's such a great songwriter. I Don't Want To Grow Up's my favorite album | |
| Descendents – Silly Girl Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| i'm a huge descendents fan, when my friend told me about mix tape i thought it was cool how they gave them props, cause the descendents are soooo underrated. thousands of bands would not sound as they do today if not for them...they're huge pioneers. This song's one of my favorites, so lovey, so perfect...bill writes great lyrics | |
| Descendents – Pervert Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Milo writes amazing lyrics. I agree with mattfergusson about the satire, this songs so funny and great | |
| Taking Back Sunday – Timberwolves at New Jersey Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Yeah EmoChik, I heard the same thing. it actually makes a lot of sense if the song is about their old singer. I dont know too much about them, but if you think about it and listen to it, it makes a lot of sense. Also I would just like to add that I think the band got WAAAY better in the lyrics department when Adam started singing. I think the old singer had some good lines, but his writing style was so formulated and encapsulated...adam and john expand a lot more now and I think they can cover a lot of territory very well with the way they write | |
| Taking Back Sunday – Lost And Found Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I never heard the song, but if it sounds nothing like Adam its probably their old singer. The lyrics seem structured like their old singer too. I just also want to say that, although the lyrics to this song aren't bad, I think they're MUCH stronger lyricists now. I just laugh at that line they have on the new CD "Those words at best were worse than teenage poetry" someone told me they wrote that song about their old singer...kind of makes sense if you listen to it, but i could be way off, correct me if i'm wrong, and i'm rambling :) | |
| The Cure – Just Like Heaven Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I'm a huge Cure fan, and this is my favorite song. I agree that the cure has tons of songs no one has heard of that are great too (M, Trust), but this just happens to be my favorite one...But I highly reccommend Trust to all who haven't heard it...Beautiful and depressing | |

| Descendents – All-O-Gistics Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| hey, why doesn't anyone like the descendents? seriously, I've only met like 3 people who love them as much as I...maybe since I live on Long Island? either way, they dont get the credit they deserve | |
| Coheed and Cambria – IRO-bot Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| they're breaking up? I haven't heard that, and i'm going to see them soon! heh. I burnt the album with demo versions of the song (like acoustic junesong) then i bought it. I love it! It was like a new album to me. | |
| The Weakerthans – Maryland Bridge Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| this is an amazing song, I love it! desperatly searching for John K's solo CD that this is on. If anyone knows how to get it, please post! | |
| Saves the Day – Dave Feels Right Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I always wondered something about this song...Dave Soloway used to be in Sefler, which is basically Saves The Day before they had the name. Since he did not play on the demo this was on (at least I dont think so), is this song about him leaving Sefler? | |
| Sefler – About Waking Up Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I love this song! It used to be my favorite Sefler song until I heard "A Month Of Sundays." If anyone has full lyrics to that or this song, post em! | |
