| Nightwish – Lagoon Lyrics | 1 year ago |
|
Imagine a perfect beach without a mermaid ----> Tarja Inagine a perfect Eden without a friend (without a serpent) ----> Marcelo As someone pointed, in the Eden there was Adam and Eve (Tuomas and Tarja). But the serpent ruined everything by convincing Eve to eat the apple. In Tuomas' mind, Marcelo disrupted the connection they had by putting ideas into Tarja's mind. |

| Nightwish – Planet Hell Lyrics | 1 year ago |

Given that Tuomas' songs are Tuomas' personal diary and emotions, I think this song has a personal meaning hidden by tons of metaphors and allegories. ▶ I think child/children in his songs means music/album ▶ he already mentioned the word "Saint" in Beauty of the Beast ▶ Save yourself a penny for the ferryman ▶ We will make the streams for our children flow (Sacrament of Wilderness). I think he means he will cross that river alone. ■■■■■■■■■Tuomas only writes about himself and his feelings. Even 10th Man Down could have another meaning than the more obvious one. |

"Only so many times I can say I long for you The lily among the thorns The prey among the wolves" Who was called by Tuomas himself "the beauty among 4 beasts"? |

@[leopardi:49845] I just read your comment. Are you still willing to analyse Tuomas' lyrics as poems? I too think they should be studied and I agree that they are a great love letter to Tarja Turunen. I know you're comment is from 2008 so maybe you've totally move on :D |

| Tarja Turunen – Boy And The Ghost Lyrics | 1 year ago |
|
I think it's about Tuomas. He used to refer to himself as the "Dead Boy" and he happened to write a song called Ghost Love Score. Also the "angel in the snow" is a reference to "Sacrament of Wilderness": Naked in midwinter magic, Lies an angel in the snow. Also the "frightened dead boy with so much hate" and "when his dreams are running wild", it's clearly Tuomas. Overall this song is about what Tuomas lost when firing Tarja. He lost his toy, he lost his light |

@[SymphonicHead:49719] I think the 500 letters is a metaphor and she was probably relating to The Poet and The Pendulum. These are Poet and the Pendulum's lyrics: He was found naked and dead With a smile in his face, a pen and 1000 pages of erased text These are 500 Letters' lyrics: They found the final letter lying by his side A smile was on his face, cold as ice Isn't that the same person? |

| Nightwish – Wish I Had an Angel Lyrics | 1 year ago |
| @[FelipeCIknowth:49718], I really appreciate your interpretation and it seems quite plausible. I can't imagine Tuomas frequenting a random nightclub, attempting to flirt with a girl, and then feeling so frustrated about this stranger and the guy who charmed her that he'd be inspired to write a song for Once about the experience. | |
| Nightwish – Beauty Of The Beast Lyrics | 1 year ago |
|
I agree that the last part of the song is more like a monologue and not a message for the lover. When he says "Oh sweet Christabel share with me your poem", he's not asking Christabel to share her poem. I think it's a stylistic form that means "Oh sweet Christabel, I'm sharing the same fate as you and your unfinished poem." Coleridge planned to write more but never finished it. He feels unworthy of calling himself a poet because according to him, he never managed to find a conclusion to any of his poems. |

| This song is about Tarja (along with Eva and Bye Bye Beautiful). | |
| Nightwish – Cadence of Her Last Breath Lyrics | 1 year ago |
| @[khlystimetal:49635] i agree this song is about Tarja (just like Eva and Bye Bye Beautiful). You're right ajout Tarja replying to that song with "Until My Last Breath". However I don't think Tarja was in love with Tuomas. I think he knew she didn't love him. That's why his lyrics said that he wrote his most beautiful music from pain. | |
| Nightwish – 10th Man Down (feat. Tapio Wilska) Lyrics | 1 year ago |
|
Did anyone notice that the chorus in Ghost Love Score is similar to the one in 10th Man Down? "Cut me free, bleed with me, oh no, one by one we will fall..." "My fall will be for you, my love will be in you, if you be the one to cut me I will bleed forever..." Fall, cut, bleed. |

| Nightwish – Dead Gardens Lyrics | 1 year ago |
| I think this song has subtle references to Gethsemane | |
| Nightwish – Romanticide Lyrics | 1 year ago |
|
@Jarska why do you think they had no romantic love? The title of the song is Romanticide. How would you interpret the placement of the song in the album? It comes after Dead Gardens, which references Gethsemane, and before Ghost Love Score, which is clearly a love song. |

| Nightwish – Bless The Child Lyrics | 1 year ago |

@[lu10048704:49386] A "Nightwish dictionary" must exist somewhere, because the words in his lyrics are not literal. He uses certain words to convey a concept in a poetic and obscure way. Child means "album" or "composed music by me". Whenever the word "child" appears in a Nightwish song, it refers to a music album (or "my creation" in a poetic sense). |

| Tarja Turunen – I Walk Alone Lyrics | 1 year ago |
|
This song responds to "Eva" by Nightwish, which came out a few months earlier than "I Walk Alone". Here are some of the lyrics side by side (Eva I Walk alone): "A rose by any other name" "Keep all the roses I'm not dead" "Eva leaves her Swanbrook home" "I'm never gone" "Kindest heart which always made me ashamed of my own" "And no one can save you" "She walks alone but not without her name" "I walk alone, it's never gone (the name)" "Eva flies away" "I didn't fly" "Dreams the world far away" "Go tell the world I'm still around" "There's no friend to call her name" "You are the wind, the only sound" "Mocked by man to depths of shame, little girl with life ahead" "You don't have to see what I turned out to be" "For a memory of one kind word she would stay among the beasts" "Whisper to my heart when hope is torn apart" "She would stay among the beasts" "Far from your fools" "Time for one more daring dream before her escape" "Go back to sleep forever more... and lock the door" "We kill with her own loving heart" "No one can help you" |

| Nightwish – Eva Lyrics | 1 year ago |
|
Eva is Tarja. I think the song is a farewell to Tarja, but it also diminishes her a little. I believe Eva is Tarja because Eva was the first woman and therefore, the first singer. A reference to Eva/Eve also appears in Ghost Love Score: "relive the old sin of Adam and Eve" (which could imply "let's return to the very origin of us"). Ghost Love Score is a lengthy song about lamenting a love that could never exist, which in my opinion is the love that Tuomas could never explicitly express to Tarja. He is belittling her by referring to her as a "little girl" and suggesting that she has pursued unrealistic and immature fantasies and dreams. "In this cruel children's game there's no friend to call her name". This line implies that the music industry is a harsh place where she has no allies or recognition. He mentions the "beasts" ("she would stay among the beasts"). The beasts is a reference to the band members. In one interview, Tuomas said that the band was 4 beasts and 1 beauty. Eva is not a song about child abuse. Tuomas writes only about his own feelings and experiences. His lyrics are like a diary and a reflection of his emotions. The first single from Dark Passion Play was Eva, which came out on May 25, 2007. The first single from My Winter Storm (Tarja Turunen) was "I Walk Alone" which was released on October 26, 2007. "I Walk Alone" is the answer to "Eva". Here are some of the lyrics side by side (Eva <> I Walk alone): "A rose by any other name" <> "Keep all the roses I'm not dead" "Eva leaves her Swanbrook home" <> "I'm never gone" "Kindest heart which always made me ashamed of my own" <> "And no one can save you" "She walks alone but not without her name" <> "I walk alone, it's never gone (the name)" "Eva flies away" <> "I didn't fly" "Dreams the world far away" <> "Go tell the world I'm still around" "There's no friend to call her name" <> "You are the wind, the only sound" "Mocked by man to depths of shame, little girl with life ahead" <> "You don't have to see what I turned out to be" "For a memory of one kind word she would stay among the beasts" <> "Whisper to my heart when hope is torn apart" "She would stay among the beasts" <> "Far from your fools" "Time for one more daring dream before her escape" <> "Go back to sleep forever more... and lock the door" "We kill with her own loving heart" <> "No one can help you" |

| Slut – Easy To Love Lyrics | 4 years ago |
|
Could this be about a girl who was just a fling? Like she's easy to love (easy to have sex with) and he only wants to see her for the good times or just to make himself feel better. And he will never forget "this" (notice how he didn't say "never forget you") as if he will only remember the experience. Also he mentions her as a "mistress" which makes me think that she had no official position in his life and now he's moving on to someone else. |

| Nightwish – Slaying The Dreamer Lyrics | 4 years ago |
|
"You'd be nothing without me" Could it be something that Tarja said back then? I know Tuomas said that in a fit of rage she allegedly threatened to leave the band and that without her the band was nothing. I don't know when that was said but I remember an interview where Tarja said that after Wishmaster things weren't going well between the band members and there were all very exhausted. So maybe that's when Tarja said that Nightwish was nothing without her and Tuomas never forgot. He probably bore a grudge against her and waited for his revenge. "You bathed in my wine Drank from my cup, mocked my rhyme" She got to sing his songs and feel them and since she doesn't seem to appreciate her involvement in the band (according to him) it's like she was mocking him as a poet. "Swansong for the Wish of Night God it hurts, give a name to the pain Our primrose path to hell is growing weed" He thought there was something special between them but with she's showing her true colors and he blames himself for having feelings for her and let her sing his songs that come from the heart. Their relation is getting tainted and going to an end. "Blame me, it's me Coward, a good for nothing scapegoat Dumb kid, living a dream Romantic only on paper" He feels like a coward for not having told her before that he had stronger feelings for her and could only express his love through his texts. "Put a stake through my heart! And drag me into sunlight So awake for your greed As you're slaying the dreamer" She broke his heart by rejecting him and letting him know she can leave the band anytime. He could be mad at the whole band too. After all, as I said before, there were tensions in the band after Wishmaster so maybe one evening they had an argument all of them and he got to write these lyrics. This is my interpretation, I have no idea if this is the actual meaning of the song but I still find it funny haha |
