Love to listen to this catchy song on a rainy day!! There are two different ways to see love: something to hide or something that you live and show no matter what. Everyone is entitled to feel and see it the way they see it. But it's not ok to live it the way you want it if the other person is not on the same page. If someone is in love with you is probably taking care of you, your needs, how you feel and not ignoring, provoking, in denial or afraid. You're supposed to be able to be yourself at least with that person after a while. |

I guess that it's ok to feel a little insicure and in doubt when you're getting closer to someone you care/don't know well yet. For example, I always feel like I'm not getting the nuances because English is not my First language (not that I wish it was) and even if can understand or believe something, it's more hard for me to grasp something immediately or trust. Small steps are ok usually, but I guess in the song the protagonist is feeling insicure and asking for something more, a fact, to make her feel that she can trust the other person. |

In the song there is a wide range of different emotions he is able and brave enough to call with their own name that is in open contrast with the line "People tell me it's a sin to know and feel too much within".
So many men grew up with fathers not at all used to talk about their feeling, and there is still a misconception that is shameful or fragile to ever talk about them or show any of them while it is socially acceptable to deal with them only in the form of a song, message, letter or in very few very private occasions. Probably it would make them live better and longer to experience what it means to open up a few more times in their life and being able to grab that moment while it is passing, but still that example set a pattern that is too hard to break. They feel judged by people who are not present in their life and prefer to blame the fate, find an excuse and keep their emotions to themselves and deny them rather than working on their behaviour to change the course of their own story. A step forward in the interpretation maybe is that he deeply regrets giving more importance to what people thought rather than showing his own feelings, not even with a few words, since he's the one that has to live with the consequences of his choice. |

A song about a marriage: the love and commitment that it takes when you really love somebody and promised to keep your word even when there might be some elements around and inside you that changed since the first love's promise.
Without that commitment they would have been more free of being selfish, absent, closed inside themselves or less caring of being clear to the other as well as yourself. But he decided to go back to her, even if he was changed or they were different and a lot happened in the meantime, because it was something he felt he owed her.
In my opinion, when you love or loved somebody you can't draw a line between the past and the present and pretend all of that didn't happen even if it hurts or there's no obligation to do that. Instead, being a mature person means to face the problem and at least try to solve it in the present, again and again, regardless of what happened in the past. Because giving up is not the first option.
I'm really not sure what is the meaning of the casket /money/jewels in this song. |

This song reminds me how girls are subject to a social form of imprinting that they have to wait for the guy to make the move no matter what and you can't take that pleasure/territory from them because it's an ego issue and even asking if they're ready might be crossing that border. So some girls feel a bit lost in what to do and when, when a guy is not a friend yet. But your love interest might not always be a friend of a friend or a co-worker, but instead someone you have seen in a weird place and you can only go and talk to that person or write a message via social media because it might actually feel more private in that delicate moment. Clearly most girls are not judgemental at all and supportive as soon as they can be in that position, because it's so so hard to make a move. So it's about her being supportive. |

In my opinion it's about someone who's more into playing never-ending games and calling dibs that she got hurt and she's feeling something, than she is into finding solutions and moving forward together from the past when they both suffered. The kind of person that is not about doing something, but about wanting that other people come to her because she made them to, and that can't bury the past, or give the other some credit about what happened and being trustful to get later on why he did that. I don't think it's the kind of song that you have to spend time to guess what it means, but it's beautiful in its own category. My favorite line is "They say if you love somebody than you have got to set them free" because to me represents that kind of mature and selfless love you don't get in your twenties, when you still hold on to every bit of your own pride, every type of love you can beg, not getting that you can't keep yourself but most of all the person you say to love in misery for an indefinite amount of time because you're afraid of this or that for whatever reason. Past that first phase, you don't really care about being the loser to someone else's eyes (friends), or doing something crazy or not ordinary, putting yourself out there or risking whatever you have to risk if it means that the both of you are going to be happy; the greater good is that everything is clear between you and if something hurts you, for example about how you're treated, you can openly say it and the other is going to do his best to never ever do that again. And so if at end of the day, two people are not at the same page, you can struggle and struggle but you eventually walk away from a person who doesn't care enough to be there with you while you going through that even if he/she could, because for you instead, there's no other choice . |

I'm fully aware that I have made mistakes in the past but most of all I tend not to move on from my own mistakes for an awfully long time, and not to be fully reactive in the present because I'm feeling guilty about the past that I couldn't do more, make less mistakes, be more carefull with others, being less hard to deal with and the list goes on. He's not talking to her and doesn't get people usually have a normal and human desire for social connection and interaction. So she's asking for whatever kind of interaction, even a lie. I'd say it's human that if you don't have a significant other to talk about something relevant to you, you look for the closest person to that as a substitute, like a friend, as you'd look for a lie or an argument rather than no interaction or the truth.
I personally feel the same about social media: in my opinion it's a 1% connection compared with having a dinner to chat with a friend; but clearly a lot of people prefer that rather than the full connection or no connection (and need to show off and share and being only distant to avoid what others consider basic interaction). Or maybe people can't be selfless enough to understand that a situation that is comfortable for one may be incredibly uncomfortable for the other, and the other is tired of being the one who has to struggle to cover the gap, like it's given right of the other to do almost nothing in their relationship and not even trying to do smt. |

She thinks that since what there was or is between them is so significant, it makes no sense that there's no communication between them and thinks the pain is something you can overcome and still be there for the other (or/and for your own peace of mind) as a mature person would do after a while. It personally makes me think the way you see and interpret a situation can be different from the other's person experience of the same situation and if you don't elaborate your feelings or thoughts the other may think something completely different. Sometimes you just need to accept the past for what it is and realize that you need to be more willing to adjust to the present because of what happened in the past. The present is still something you can change and some people tend to forget that. |

My personal interpretation of the song is that is ok to lose in Love anyway, rather than to start a never ending conversation on who's to blame between the two. Losing, giving without taking, caring, putting the other first rather that yourself, being there for the other person in the moments he may need you the most, not withdrawing from a situation, caring about putting the other at ease and to do something that goes way beyond your comfort zone to meet his needs are probably all definitions of love. Every now and then I come back to this song, but I never got that general sense of what it means. My favorite part is "silence like a cancer grows": not saying anything in some situations can be as bad as saying any wrong words and is useless to look for the perfect words if the context or timing is not good. So it's better to dare to say whatever words happen to pass in the mind in that moment rather than lose an opportunity. It may be a few words, in a world where a lot a people use too many words, but still it's better than silence. Also, sometimes being present with words is a way of forgiving, both the others and yourself. |

Before technology sure the world seemed a warmer place, but I think if so much is changed, people can't be judged in a negative way for using a new mean of communication to do something that it used to happen in a different way in the past, especially if so many people are doing it.
