What I think this song means is that Neil is saying he has been overwhelmed with grief over the loss of his wife and daughter. I think the first verse says he was there and then he was swept away. He didn't have a choice or any control so he was swept away. The sweet miracle is his wife and daughter whom he missis very much and wishes they could be with him now. The second verse where he says he is raging against the night I think is about the feeling of being alone. I think the salvation is and further the miracle is also the will to go on with life. So in essence the song is about death of loved ones and missing them greatly, but forgiving yourself for still being alive and going on with life.

This is also my favorite Rush song. It just strikes a chord with the visceral images of the excitement of the chase and then coming home. Great music, lyrics and mood all come together to make this a quintessential Rush song.

The dream here is Neil Peart's life experience. He was dealing with the death of his child and his wife. The dream was that traumatic experience. It's not a literal dream, but sometimes things that happen in life and then you recover from them can feel like a dream. This is a very personal song and look into Neil's life.

I think this song is about a traditional male-female married couple. They are a happy loving couple who are in tune with each other and unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the norm anymore. I think this is a very personal look at Neil Peart and his relationship with his wife at the time Jacqueline Taylor. Sadly she died of cancer in 1998.
