I do not think this song is about Lana and her fascination with older men; it is about an older man thinking about a past love, who died. In the beginning of the video, the man is driving on a lonely road and then Lana starts to appear, in holographic form and seemingly human form. This man sees her on the side walk, and his gaze lingers a little longer before he gets in the car, not sure if she's there or not, or like someone haunting his memories. Lana appears singing: "I can't fix him." "I can't break through your world" she cannot do anything about it to help this man. Later in the video, we see her swimming and the man sees her too. He makes the sign of the cross as she swims by: "he prays for love, he prays for peace, and maybe someone new" the man wants someone new and to be at peace with himself. When the guitar solo is occurring, we see the holographic Lana get shot, and die. At the end of the solo, she pushes herself out of the water to see the man. The man's eyes widen, unsure of what to make. He also seems unsure when dancing with her, especially when he observes her in the mirror prior. When he lets Lana go and fall to the floor after dancing, we see his face and the empty road again, making the whole video seem dreamlike. This man is reminiscing and imagining what things could have been like, if his love hadn't died so young. Lana is the interest of course, and she's telling us about this man, and she can't help him or do anything about his sadness. The man is haunted with what might have been. |

@dynnnn I really agree with your interpretation. I feel like it's spot on, and very deep. Thanks so much for that input; that's exactlyy how I felt about the song, but I had no idea how to interpret it into words! |

I feel like this is a 'farewell' song. She is telling the person she loves goodbye. She has to let go of them; and even though it will hurt, she has to do it anyways. It makes her sad; but it's the right think to do. "I'm feelin' electric tonight, cruisin' down the coast, goin' 'bout 99. Got my bad baby by my heavenly side; I know if I go, I'll die happy tonight." She knows he has to go, but she can enjoy the good while it lasts."Think I'll miss you forever, like stars miss the sun in the morning sky. Later's better than never" She will miss this person greatly but she must let go and I think 'later's better than never' she means; I'll see you later on, even if it seems hard, at least it'll be later on in life. In the video, both girls allow themselves to fall from great heights, almost like they believe they'll meet in a different place later on if they do so, they can be together. |

Lana is singing about how even though something can hurt immensely, you can still want more of it; that you can know the effects someone can have on you, but sticking with them because, naturally, you still want to hold on to something that is pleasant even if you know they're not good, you should let go of them. Lana sings about this in many of her songs; the idea of something keeping you attached to another, even if it is unhealthy or obsessive(Diet Mt. Dew, Dark Paradise) Hence the bleeding and getting hit, but still wanting more. She also sings about how the man is like crack to her but she really doesn't want to leave; even though she probably should. |

So:
In this song, Lana is sing about/to a past lover. In the verses, she sings about her memories with him, and she certainly seems to miss him at least. When she sings: ;" I wont cry myself to sleep like a sucker; if I do, I'll die" she wont allow herself to cry and give him that satisfaction, she wont allow herself to 'loose' in the sense that she hasn't moved on. It also frustrates her that he's moved on first: "Now you fall asleep with another". Overall, i think this song is about her missing a past lover, and hating the fact he doesnt seem as hurt or sad as she does, and the fact she lost him to another. |

| Marina and the Diamonds – Lies Lyrics
|
First paragraph, she is depressed, because she has come to the realization that a relationship she work hard for was practically fake, because the man did not want to commit. He was just playing games with her, and just wants to end it. But she worked so hard for it, she wants to at least "believe it's all been worth the fight". So even if it is going to be a relationship that is dysfunctional, she just wants so badly to make it work. She would rather pretend then just give up.
The man, on the other hand, did not want the srious relationship, so is just trying to 'back out' as happens in cases in actuality, and Marina doesnt want to accept that, as she says: 'I don't wanna admit, that we're not gonna fit'. He is too cowardly and proud to say that it was a fake relationship, so he makes excuses 'not the type that you like' etc;
Marina wanted everything to work out perfectly so she just put so much effort, and refuses admiting that the relationship is basically dea, and even though they both know it's lies, she needs to make it worth her while and just wont let go. So she lies and pretends that it will all be okay, even if it wont.
This song is very striking, because i think many people, like myself, can relate to it. Just so desprately wanting to hang on to what you want, instead of what the relationship actually is. |

| Marina and the Diamonds – Sex Yeah Lyrics

In this song, I think Marina is trying to get the point across that sex in our socieciety is fake and overexposed. Everyone already knows everything. It basically now just controls everyone. And it puts a fake label on people. "If women were religously recognixed sexually, we wouldn't have to feel the need to show our a**"This part is saying, if men recognized a women's appeal regualarly, they wouldn't go to great lengths to try to get attention. So, niw, sex is a degrading and abused topic, and its not fair for people to be judged, or labled, because of what others have done for attention. |

I think Marina is tired of being taken advantage of, dropped, used, or neglected. The man doesnt contribute to the relationship as much and thinks he's hot stuff. So she has become so tired of being treated unjustly in love, so this time around, SHE wants to be the one in control of things, to make sure she doesn't get hurt. |

Like most of her songs, I think Lana is depicting a dangerous love. She knows "love is mean, and love hurts" but she is still in love with or obsessed with this man. And she will still love him forever, and she would wait for him, just because she is so in love with this man. The 'dangerous love' thought also is conveyed in the music video. In the video, she is watching the man she loves with a sense of longing. She sees him get in the water and follows. If you notice, there is an alligator/crocodille and the man is attracting the prey(Lana). She gets in the pool and in the pool the alligator/croc circles her and then replaces the man. In the end, he ends up drowning her ("love hurts"). But she doesnt seem to mind, because she loves this man so much. She will let him basically do anything, because her love for him is so strong. |

| Lana Del Rey – Burning Desire Lyrics

|
In very much of Lana's songs, she depicts herself as almost insane, and it gives her song a kind of haunting essence. In this song, I think she is saying, she is so in love, or maybe even so obsessed, with this man, she will do pretty much anything to get to him and be with him. She has a burining desire and need to be with him.
"I've got a burnin' desire for you, baby. I drive fast, wind in my hair, push it to the limits cuz I just don't care."
In this part, she is saying how much she feels the need to be his, so she will do ANYTHING, it doesnt matter, just as long as she gets to him. Also on that note, the lyrics:
"I drive fast, flash, everyone knows it, I'm tryna get to you baby, I'm feeling scared and you know it"
she is also explaining how much she wants this man. I also think she might be afraid of how much she wants to be with him. |

| Lana Del Rey – Ride Lyrics

I feel like in this song, Lana is trying to express her strong desire and need to be free. In the video, you see her traveling on the open road. This helps convey how she sets herself free, one could say. When she says: "I've got a war in my mind, so, I just ride," She feels as if she has so much to think about and figure out, so to try and clear her thoughts, she 'just rides'. ALso, in the prologue of the video, she mentions an obsession for freedom, and so to feel free, she just rides. "I'm tired of feelin' like I'm f***ing crazy, I'm tired of drivin' till I see stars in my eyes. Its all I've got to keep myself sane baby, so I just ride." I feel like this also is her saying she feels crazy and just cant handle it and seting herself free in this way helps her maintain her sanity. |
