Burning Desire Lyrics
Every saturday night I get dressed up to ride for you, baby
Cruising down the street on hollywood and vine for you, baby
I drive fast, wind in my hair, push it to the limits, I just don't care
You ask me where I've been, I been everywhere
I don't wanna be nowhere but here
Come on tell me boy
I got a burning desire for you, baby
I got a burning desire
I got a burning desire for you, baby
I got a burning desire
I drive fast, wind in my hair, push it to the limits, I just don't care
I got a burning desire for you, baby
I got a burning desire for you
every saturday night I seem to come alive for you, baby
santa monica, i'm racing in the lights for you, baby
I drive fast, radio blares, have to touch myself to pretend you're there
Your hands were on my hips, your name is on my lips
Over and over again, little only prayer
Come on tell me boy
I got a burning desire for you, baby
I got a burning desire
I got a burning desire for you, baby
I got a burning desire
I drive fast, wind in my hair, push it to the limits, I just don't care
I got a burning desire for you, baby
I got a burning desire for you
I drive fast, wind in my hair, push it to the limits, I just don't care
I got a burning desire for you, baby
I got a burning desire for you
Drivin' fast; flash; everyone knows it
I'm trying to get to you, baby
I'm feeling scared, you know it
I got a burning desire for you, baby
I got a burning desire
I got a burning desire for you, baby
I got a burning desire
Cruising down the street on hollywood and vine for you, baby
I drive fast, wind in my hair, push it to the limits, I just don't care

I love how there is a double interpretation to the lyrics. On one side she is relating to her new, fast, fascinating car, but on the other side she is hiding once again a relationship, man between the lines. While reading the lyrics, I either had an image about her driving alone in the car or her being with a guy but not inside the car. For some reason I can't imagine the two as a whole, combined big picture. Real creative.
In very much of Lana's songs, she depicts herself as almost insane, and it gives her song a kind of haunting essence. In this song, I think she is saying, she is so in love, or maybe even so obsessed, with this man, she will do pretty much anything to get to him and be with him. She has a burining desire and need to be with him.
"I've got a burnin' desire for you, baby. I drive fast, wind in my hair, push it to the limits cuz I just don't care."
In this part, she is saying how much she feels the need to be his, so she will do ANYTHING, it doesnt matter, just as long as she gets to him. Also on that note, the lyrics:
"I drive fast, flash, everyone knows it, I'm tryna get to you baby, I'm feeling scared and you know it"
she is also explaining how much she wants this man. I also think she might be afraid of how much she wants to be with him.
No. this is more deep that just a relationship. Way more deep. First of all this song was made just to launch a new car, i don't know if you have seen the video but i think the car company payed her to make a song for the ad.
Second of all, one of lana's favorite books is "think and grow rich" by napoleon hill. I haven't read all of it but the book talks about how if you think of something a lot it becomes your reality and that theory is called "burning desire" they actually describe it like that "burning desire" so she took it from that book and made the song because it is an ambitious song i guess.
sorry if i didnt describe the book well but it had something to do with god so i was not really interested while reading it but i do remember those words "burning desire"
Wow, how do you know Think and Grow Rich is one of Lana's favorite book? Anyway, I think I'll read it. It looks really interesting.

Lana said this in an GQ magazine interview: ""Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill - that will help you. I'm listening to audio books now. I've actually been listening to newscasts on this new movement in biology of creating human life through synthetic chemical compounds. I couldn't believe that was really happening."

I got a burning desire.(to be naughty) At first I instantly thought of a race car. Evertime I play this in my car I want to drive fast! But then I listened more and more, and realized something. I could have sex to this song. I was hoping she was saying “Come on do me boy”, not come on tell me boy lol!!
On the other side, it sounds like she is a booty call. “Every Saturday night I get dressed up to ride for you babe”. She gets dressed up in her best attire just for him. She pushes it to the limits, because she feels she is that “bad ass bitch”, that “Jessica Rabbit” with a pistol on her thigh every man secretly desires. But she also has the burning desire to just be loved by him. Because she thinks about him when she touches herself, and she calls out his name when he touches her. “Have to touch myself to pretend you're there. Your hands were on my hips; your name is on my lips, over again, like my only prayer. That’s why she is chasing him; she loves it, maybe even a little too much. “I’m driving fast, flash, everyone knows it I’m trying to get to you babe I’m feeling scared and you know it.”
I think the song is about sex and that's it. She's being coy by turning it into something like driving in a fast car but I think that's just another description for wanting to f*ck.
There are a lot of ways this song can be interpreted, but I think it's pretty straight forward. No mystery here. This song is clearly about the time that Elvis Presley shoved his veined and swollen blood bomber into Ann-Margret's winkin' pink brownie cake, pulled out a big fat pitted cherry, and shot cream filling all over the wet, pendulous lard bags on her chest.
