Grandaddy – Wretched Songs Lyrics 5 years ago
I hear what both you guys are saying, but he does do this live on The Windfall Varietal album and calls it a really depressing song. I think depressing for him, perhaps, because those moments of inspiration are far and few between as time goes by, and what if they altogether disappear. Writer's block 100%, maybe that's why he called it quits with Grandaddy for a while. Probably not because his solo albums are absolutely inspired and fantastic. Jason Lytle is definitely a genius when it comes to his poetic songwriting skills, and of course his music that lines right up with those lyrics. Love this man, he is an inspiration for sure.

Fleetwood Mac – The Ledge Lyrics 5 years ago
I think it may be about someone who is in denial that the relationship is over. It's either you're on the bus or you're off the bus, and in this case you're on the bus and there is no getting off of it. But I also agree with the two comments prior to this comment as well. Great song, nonetheless, the way it is slammed into your face.

Thin White Rope – Hunter's Moon Lyrics 7 years ago
Mystical words by lead singer Guy Keyser put to music of inspiring crescendos. An absolute wall of sound that Thin White Rope were so good at creating.

Fleetwood Mac – Murrow Turning Over in His Grave Lyrics 7 years ago
Edward Murrow was a real journalist, and may well have been the last truly, truth-seeking journalist. Nowadays the news is a fiasco of lies, deceit, and false flags, which in the long run spells out one thing...manipulation and brain washing to the masses. The masses, because television is the greatest weapon American government has ever invented, and all in the name of entertainment. The news and other news-like journalism shows (Dateline, Night-Line, and or 20/20 type journalistic programs) have gone on for so long unchecked by any journalistic criticism, or marking, that they have become just another story-telling sitcom like All In The Family, social satire programming. Television is nothing more than programming...programming our docile sweet little innocent heads.but All In The Family has a lot more meat to it, a lot more. Because at least it is teaching moral and ethical ideas, but not really teaching it, just sending it out to whoever sees it for what it is or not. Even though our subconscious may have picked up on it already, as it usually does.
Got a little side tracked....Lindsey Buckingham is in raw form on this song and his lyrics have never spoken so clearly to me. This song was released in 2003, and Buckingham is describing to a tee, what is actually happening in the world of news reporting today. The beginning of the song mentions the the acronym MSCAE, and by doing a little research on about what the acronym is, I found an interpretation of those initials to say, Murrow School of Communication, Arts, and Entertainment. Of course, Buckingham is playing a little with tongue and cheek sarcasm, but Edward R. Murrow would be turning over in his grave if he saw what these psychos running this world (i.e. the American government and all governments) are doing to it. He is calling it the school..."Art and Entertainment" because that is exactly what many governenmts have turned their policies to..."entertainment", because that is what sells...whether it is truth or "false flag" propaganda manipulations, we need to entertain!!

@[theindigopirate:26378] Definitely a homage to the great Talk Talk. Jason does Tomorrow Started on a tribute album called The Spirit of Talk Talk. It's amazing, of course, too. In case you didn't know.

Jason Lytle – Brand New Sun Lyrics 11 years ago
@[Ebonoire:925] Hey dude, how was the Jason Lytle show at the Manchester Academy? Wow, that was a long time ago. Have been a Grandaddy fan since the turn of the millennium, and love them. And well, Jason Lytle, lucky for us, is Grandaddy for the most part, and his solo albums are brilliant. I finally have Yours Truly, The Commuter, and this song, Brand New Sun, is absolutely a standout on the album. Love the chorus, and it does evoke an emotional response to it too, as many of his songs do. Great song!

Grandaddy – He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's The Pilot Lyrics 11 years ago
I have many different interpretations of this song, and I am still trying to figure out what it exactly does mean. So, with that aside, I will have to say that the line (and the way Jason Lytle sings it), "did you love this world and did this world not love you?" is what makes this song soar to heights I have not reached in a very long time. Thank you for that raw, incredibly honest line of poetry, Mr. Jason Lytle, you are a true poet.
