10 Years sounds so much like Chevelle and Cold but that's because they all came out of the early-2000s alternative vein of music. All 3 of those bands are extremely underrated. To the meaning of the song: I think it's about the hypocrisy of organized religions, particularly the religious elites, hence the chorus "Righteous pharisees befriending silent movements mar re injuring god The taste of absent minded actions outweigh forgiveness." Further, the title of the song Paralyzing Kings is indicative of religions (cough) the Catholic Church (cough) using their "divine nature" to paralyze kings, or men of power, by bending them to their own will claiming to be liaisons for their particular gods. |

If only more Theists were like you, bro. I think many people, particularly those who live in the US or another highly Christian nation believe these songs apply directly toward Christianity because those parts of the world are primarily Christian. I bet if you played this song in Pakistan, the people there would think it pertains to Islam. I choose to believe this applies to not only every religion, but every highly organized organization because for something to be a religion, I believe, it doesn't need to be based around an extra-sensory being. To me, this is a very Atheist and anarchical song basically saying every religion or religious institution is bullshit. |

I'm an Atheist, but I used to be a "Christian." My stance on my faith was that I didn't need some bullshit institution, like a church, to tell me how to believe in god. I thought churches were bullshit even when I was a Christian. Why? Because organized religion is just another way for people to give excuses for hating and fighting each other. I had faith in a higher power, but nothing more than that. I was only a "Christian" because I come from a very Christian family and back round so I kind of naturally feel into Christianity. Eventually I saw how utterly useless faith is to me because everything a belief in god promised I realized I could get on my own without any gods at all. I realized morality, love, acceptance, generosity, empathy, and an enormous number of "virtues" come from me when I decide to embrace them. That is my #1 beef with religion: It gives people false promises of salvation when they are no more special for believing in their gods than I am not believing in their gods. I have no problem with Theists as long as they don't shove their beliefs down my throat so I refuse to shove mine down their throat out of respect for them and their beliefs.
Frankly, I wish humanity would ascend beyond the false promises of Theism and live in the here and now because it can, but that's not my decision to make. |

I am by NO MEANS a fan of rap but this song is out-fucking-standing. This is 100,000x better than the shit that's released today. I honestly can't see Kanye West or Lil Wayne releasing songs like this. If more rap was like this, I'd probably like rap more.
All in all: Awesome song. It puts "gangsta" in a different, lighter perspective. It's a nice counter-balance to the whole "fuck bitches and get money" outlook that most rap today displays. Oh how things have changed. |

And this is what I love about Alternative Rock: 1 song can have half a dozen interpretations. Personally, I think it's about a threesome. When the girl sings her part of the song, to me it busts the meaning right open. "Let's bump the beats till beddy-bye" to me implies a lot of "physical contact." Good song nonetheless. |

First off: Fantastic song.
I think this song is about someone who has what I like to call "your own worst enemy syndrome." Basically, they're seeing all their flaws and really alarmed and disturbed by them. So now they're at the point where they have to decide whether or not to persevere and try to fix themselves.
The lines
"You’ve got nothing lose
do not wait till angels sing
don’t fear the unknown road
what is diamond was once coal"
... are about the individual in question feeling a sense of optimism because they "got nothing to lost" and the line "do not wait till angels" says basically just go out there and do it. Fuck the risks and just give it your damnedest. |

This song is pretty straight-forward. From what I've read by people who have posted on here everyone seems to be on the same page that it's about how we demonize homosexuality in our society.

Why would someone choose to be gay, thus ousting them from society?
