Bad Religion – My Sanity Lyrics 6 years ago
I see this as a song about a person who sees the world changing around him and when given opportunities to accept that change, he instead doubles down on his own beliefs that he has always held. This is seen in lyrics like: "I've got a firm grip...burrowed deep in reality." "And with confidence declare your state of perfect mental health." And, "My world picture is exemplary."

One of the more beautiful BR songs with their use of harmonies and certainly a stand-out on 'Age of Unreason.'

Bad Religion – In So Many Ways Lyrics 9 years ago
No Substance is one of my top three BR albums and this song is the ultimate conclusion. Amazing lyrics and "oozin' ahhs". People really need to take a 2nd look at this album.

I agree with all of those above so I won't go into detail with the meaning of the song, just to say that it may be one of the most underrated BR songs in their large encyclopedia going back decades. The vocal harmonies throughout, combined with the lyrics have really just always blown me away. It's a shame so many people never give, "No Substance," a chance since Mr. Brett was not a part of it.

Bad Religion – True North Lyrics 12 years ago
First and foremost, this is easily the best song off of the new album and embodies everything Bad Religion is and has been through the years. The album, overall, is quite good, but I agree with Stayfluffy when he says that there aren't a whole lot of instant classics from it. Anyway, Bill George has a book called, 'True North.' In it, he states:

"True North is the internal compass that guides you successfully through life. It represents who you are as a human being at your deepest level. It is your orienting point - your fixed point in a spinning world - that helps you stay on track as a leader. Your True North is based on what is most important to you, your most cherished values, your passions and motivations, the sources of satisfaction in your life."

With so many distractions, expectations, and powerful opinions from others, one has to work that much harder to find their 'true' direction in life. Thank you Greg for this song. It really sets the tone for the whole album.

Bad Religion – Come Join Us Lyrics 13 years ago
I generally agree with others' responses in here that this is mostly about 'cult' culture - from very serious, crazy people to those who are simply afraid to create their own direction and find comfort and self-worth in the company of others. Religious groups are obvious, but I suppose it could be about punks that follow the crowd, but don't understand what punk really means.

In regards to your quote, I believe in the last stanza that Greg is turning the satirical attitude of his song into actuality - meaning to come join the open minded intellectuals, not the fearful 'clones.'
