this song reminds me about a guy I loved so so very much. The last day I got to spend with him, I was counting down the hours I had left with him - not because I wanted to leave, but because I knew I was going to miss him when I had to hit the airport the next day in the AM. It's a slow death when you have to leave your significant other thousand miles away, I really wished the clock had no hands and I think this is what the song is all about - not wanting to leave *that one person's arms*. |

There are so many things that come to mind when I listen to this song and to Voyage (album) in general. Voyage is all about having hope, re-living moments, holding onto something you still believe can happen. Heal your wounds through music. This song is something only a hopeless romantic couild have written and here is *my interpretation*: The first verse make me believe that he is reuniting with that special someone who had a previous relationship/stong connecting with in the past... Something happenede, and they are no longer together.. but the one telling this story, really wants to try to make it work this time. "I still believe in this, don't let it die".... jumping now to: "You were always building me up Are you ready, build it back up" it makes me believe that *the special someone* is the one that ended everything. And now, the singer is asking him to give it a shot and try to make him feel the way he used to make him feel "back when *you* were mine*. ------- I am having *a moment* as I type this. I have too many ideas in mind and I just hope that what I could write was enough for you to understand what I think about the song. |

Heartthrob is a a post break-up album; one of the many reasons why I love it - since I can relate to it a lot. "I run Empty" is one of the most underrated ballads we can find in Heartthrob - my interpration is that Sara/Tegan is thinking about that person now that all is gone. They know they messed it up.. yet, they don't think they "deserve" whatever the other person did to them; they shouldn't have lost the relationship, or whatever. This song represents that mental state you enter when you are in your room regreting everything you have done now that the relationship is over. Missing that one special person, wishing to go back and fix everything. and "I run Empty", I think it means to cry until you kill the feeling that day; cry until you fall asleep... cry until you run empty. not rocket science. This is heartbreaking science. |

To me, this song is about a someone who is scared of getting into a relationship, and the other person is singing to him that everything will be okay because he truly loves him and "love cures all wounds". He is trying to convince this other person that they are meant together and to give it a try. |

I didn't know about her dad thing until I read the coments on here. Which make sense. As I am not a Demi fan, I didn't even know about it. But before reading the comments, I could only think about her - trying to move on from a big love she has. As if she is strongly in love with that person, but she knows it is better to move on and be happy. she doesn't want that one guy to keep calling becuase, maybe, at the second she listens to his voice... she would fall again when really she is fighting to get him out of her life. ** like I said, This was my thought before reading what the song was really about. :) |

Although I belive this song can be about someone loving another person so much.. but he knows that everything will come to an end, or that things will not get better. "Though I fear what is to come I'm a soldier running, try to see At the end of the world someone holds out for me" And maybe he knows that even though he loves that person a lot, there is someone else waiting for him to "something better". --- or, it can also be about this person trying very hard to get the relationship to work. Even though they are having a bad time, and things will get worse "they will run forever, looking for your love so cool - to something better" just my thoughts. I can be wrong. That's how I feel. I liked this song from the very first time I listened to it, and only one person shows up to my mind when I listen to it. I also had an experience with the song playing in the background that I will never forget. One of my favorites from "voyage" |

This is about how 2 people are in love, but can't be together because everything is against them. Distance, timing, break down, fighting, silence... They're far - ' We both wake in lonely beds, and different cities ' And taylor is getting to forget about him 'And time is taking its sweet time erasing you' The guy apparently can't stop thinking about the girl ' And you've got your demons and darling they all look like me' In the end... She is not mad at what happenned, but she thinks it is a beautifulk tragic love affair. the song speaks for itself, not rocket science. One of my favorites. |
