one of my favorite songs, lazy days are a metaphor for not being in love with someone else, but being in love with your days, and your solitude. then a red balloon appears in your planet, a metaphor for meeting a stranger and potentially falling love with them. you become attracted to them and enjoy the time with them, and become close. The day comes, it hurts to let them go and see them "sail away" but at the end of the day you are back to your lazy days! its not good to cling, or to become obsessive, rather we should allow ourselves to love unconditionally, everyone you encounter and especially love the time you spend by yourself. cause at the end of it all only you can bring peace and happiness. love this song. helped me through some tough times |

I love your interpretation of the lyrics as "idle workers" but unfortunately that's isn't right. i remember seeing the booklet that came with the cd and it said mile markers. oh well. Perhaps he's talking about the noise & chaos amidst cities. and the loneliness that's felt, even in a crowded place such as California. And the ocean is a place where people can feel safe & content. With the "doors" symbolizing more opportunities and pathways to take. "living in slow motion" meaning not worrying about living a fast paced life. which is what is offered to us, regardless our choice. Lol i dont know beautiful song tho |
