theres a part of this song that really reminds me of the beatles "a day in the life" just before the solo bass bit, the way the music seems to crash in an explosion of different sounds very similar. I can also hear the elements of Queen in there as well during the guitar solo. Its a great song, i love the line "indeed a fool am i" perfection. |

this is just an amazing song, paul has a great voice and sings wiht such passion and meaning. the acoustic is better than the original from "eslewhere" however when played live with a full band it sounds just awesome and the whole crowd always sings along.
it seems to be about decisions in life, maybe things will change, "maybe ill go blind", but "maybe all i will see is sunshine". These lines suggest it is quiet an optomistic song, trying to look on the brighter side of every decision made. Things happen, he just accepts these and gets on with his life. |

i think this song is about getting away from everything by leaving town and running far away, but i also get the impression that he is cheating on his partner somehow "i dressed you in her clothes". so perhaps he has finally decided to leave his life in the town, excaping the monotony of his life, and wife/gf, and escaping with someone new to anywhere new, as long as it isnt here. it also feels like the song has 2 sides to it, the first 4 lines sung from the male perspective and the last 4 from the female. she knows he has chosen her over his wife/gf and feels great to be chose ahead of her, now she just wants to get away from this and start a new life. |

this is probably my favorite pumpkins b-side, alhtough it is quite a depressing song, you can hear the pain and emotion in the way billy sings this. it is also an easy song to play yourself. The lyrics remind me of the way a friend of mine portrays herself. this way of thinking is very depressing, and they will sontinue to "rot in their skin" through thinking this way. the way he sings "im good enough" seems to be suggesting that he is asking the question am i good enough? this suggests that society is dictating the feelings of this person, cause they feel ugly in the face of what society perceives them to be. |

awesome song. the passion and emotion that bilyl sings with is what makes these songs come to life. The opening line "i fear that i am ordinary, just like everyone" just sums up the song for me, especialy thats a feeling i oftne have, i dont think im ordinary, but i still fear being ordinary.
the way the song unfolds, it sounds as if it is a retrospective on life looking back at what they have done with themselves. but looking back it seems that everything "he knew" no longer matters because he only thought he knew them, but now he isnt so sure. |

Boy hits car are fucking awesome, very unknown in australia, but im trying to spread the word. THis song is just another example of the passion and pain shown by boy hits car, i hear that their live shows are just intense, id love them to come down here. I think this song is perhaps not about "prison" in terms of gaol, more so i think its more of a metaphorical prison, that perhaps he is stuck inside his own mind. The way he keeps assesing himself "i feel afraid", ""the truth hurts", "sick of searching" it seems he is trapped inside his own mind, "Torn between my heart and my mind" trying to make descisions, but his over-reactive mind tears at him, analysing every single detail of the descision he needs to make. There is an obvious theme, the planet Saturn is quoted throughout the song. Whether this has some metophorical interpretation is questionable. If Maynard did have a metophirical meaning for planet, it would be undoubtably be repeated in other songs, for he has a habitual habit of this. To me this song is about galileo, and his discovery of the formation of the planets in the solar system, namely, the sun is the centre, not us. The way Galileo disproved the church's model of the universe was to trace the path of the moons around the larger planets, namely Jupitar and Saturn. The church had said that the planets sat on crystal stands, but how could these stands exist when these moons were flying directlty through them. Only a hundred years before Copernicus was burnt at the stake for defying the church's model of the universe, so obviously the church had somewhat of a grudge against these freelance scientists who were on a mission to disprove the church. And the church were 'terrified of being wrong,' the people couldn't 'let go' of their faith, or the church would lose power over them, the church wanted to 'control all and everything,' for in those days, the church acted as goverment. So 'Saturn came around to show them everything,' to show the followers the faults in christianity. The lyric 'clutch it like a cornerstone' would be directed at the church, its like saying, "hold on to your faith while you've still got it." The cornerstone originating from the saying, "a cornerstone of faith." And I don't think I really need to backup Maynards feelings on religion, just listen to Euology! |
