| Neil Young – Cortez The Killer Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Love the sounds, have to go with .- Joe, from Baltimore, when he says, “Neil is saying he is Cortez, and in a deeper sense, all of us are." Montezuma showered the Spaniards with gifts and generously offered them complete access to the city, including his own palace. He had many women as his mistresses, the daughters of chieftains, and two legitimate wives. Some say the last leader of the Aztec’s gave gold calendars to Cortez. Some say Cortez melted them to lumps of metal for the Spanish queen. Moctezuma became a prisoner in his own house until he was killed. When he was stoned by his own people, and later stabbed to death, “Cortés and his captains and soldiers wept.” |

Burning the ships is a tactic from The Art of War military treatise attributed to Sun Tzu dating back to the 2nd century BC. "because of the facility for retreating," .. "When your army has crossed the border, you should burn your boats and bridges, in order to make it clear to everybody that you have no hankering after home." |

| Leon Russell – Back To The Island Lyrics | 13 years ago |
He returned to the island after she took him away to the rat race of the mainland. He escaped and made it home . What do they do on the islands? Nothing, nothing at all. There is nothing to be done. Watch the sundown. listen to the waves, and dream of her. One thing we know for sure, is he is not at Sunset Beach. Because he says Sea instead of Ocean, and we don’t have ships coming in, just Surfers. But lazy island life does revolve around the sun going down, and the sound of the waves pounding the shore, and often memories of lost loves. |

| The Rolling Stones – Honky Tonk Women Lyrics | 13 years ago |
A honky-tonk (also called a honkatonk, honkey-tonk, or tonk) is a type of bar that provides musical entertainment (usually country music) to its patrons. A bar-room queen ~ Queen is a term used to refer to flamboyant or effeminate gay men. This is further backed up by him/her being big enough to carry the singer across her shoulder. Later he does a chick probably in a Country bar in New York City. Honky talk women, male or female, hang out in Country music bars. He uses it here to refer to easy women. The song itself is about being on a drunk trying to get over a chick with easy women all around. The Black Box #306. Honky Tonk Women, has a verse about, strolling on the boulevards of Paris. He can get easy women all over the world, but he just can’t seem to get her off of his mind. |
| The Rolling Stones – Country Honk Lyrics | 13 years ago |
How could he have played a divorcee in New York City? or "I laid a divorcee in New York City." The song has a whole different meaning if he played a divorcé. Some chick tried to hit him up. He had been hit up before, but this time he played hard to get saying he just got divorced and was not really into it, before they got into it. |

| Love – Signed D. C. Lyrics | 13 years ago |
“Sometimes I feel so lonely.” Shooting up is a personal thing. If there are two people and only enough dope for one, it is rare that it is shared and they both stay sick. “My comedown I'm scared to face” The comedown is the sickness that envelops the body as the painkiller wears off. It is a greater pain than if they had not used the drug in the first place. “I've pierced my skin again, lord” Stuck in a needle to put the substance directly into the vain for a greater rush. “No one cares For me” The Junkie chooses drugs over people. “My soul belongs to the dealer” The junkie needs a fix, plain and simple “He keeps my mind as well” No matter how spaced out the addict gets they have to keep in mind the next place they will meet the dealer and what they will need to get well. “I play the part of the lecher” When an addict has tons of resources and a secure pharmaceutical supply maybe they can get dope when they want it. But DC in a band starting out would have had to hook users up to get a taste. That is they would act as brokers and get a piece off each side of the transaction to get well. They would have to leach off other users addictions, just like users do to them. “No one cares For me, cares for me” “Look out Joe, I'm fallin'” He did not get a fix in time. It is like falling into a deep hole of pain. Cold turkey, or weak turkey if that last hit was to not strong enough. “I can't unfold my arms” He is in extreme pain, fetal position, nothing he can do until help arrives. “I've got one foot in the graveyard” Contrary to popular belief relatively few people actually die from Heroin overdoses as can be seen by DC living another forty years, but that is the way to end an anti-drug song. “No one cares For me, cares for me” |

| Love – Signed D.C. Lyrics | 13 years ago |
'Signed D.C.' is basically Arthur’s solo about the perils of drug addiction. DC aka Don Conka was Love's original drummer, who because of his addiction was dropped from the recording of the first album. DC could not be counted on for appearances at rehearsals & gigs. He was always late or never showed at all, because had to get drugs. You can identify any song by The Stones, The Byrd’s the Kinks, even The Beatles, but you cannot pin down the sound they developed playing in Arthur's garage. 'Signed D.C. was written as though it was found on a note after his OD, in his magnificent bedroom in the Castle (also called Talmadge House, at 4320 Cedarhurst Circle, Los Feliz area of Los Angeles) where the band lived together. Conka passed away in 2004, Lee in 2006. Signed DC: http://youtu.be/P_JuVBesMQE The Castle: http://youtu.be/J1jpoCnlk-8 |

| Gram Parsons – A Song For You Lyrics | 13 years ago |
In the 22 seconds of The Story Behind "A Song for You"? Gram says, “A song for you is really a love song. Having to do with an area sort of like the one, he came from in the south, sort of a swamp area, and a somebody who can’t stick around to long. It’s ah, that’s putting it very simply.” Composers bring to the surface music and lyrics to get the point across for deeper flowing ideas. Thoughts jump around like a wild goose. They wander all around dropping everywhere. They tremble and shake till every idea is loose. They roll the meadows and they roll your hills. When you relax your mind, take it down to its floor. You won’t mind the people when they stare at you. You feel you are someone else during the trip but tomorrow you will still be pretty much the same. Jesus built a ship to sing a song to. It sails the rivers and it sails the tides of your mind. Some of my friends don't know who they are. Some can't get a single thing to work inside. You have loved who you are, but as you grow you see your self changing. All things must pass. I can see your sorrow, but your inner self your DNA knows a lot more than they have been teaching. Accept, but don’t be blinded by your light. So, for sure a "song for you," is really a love song. Having to do with an area sort of like your mind, where thoughts about who you are can’t stick around to long. |

| The Rolling Stones – Connection Lyrics | 14 years ago |
He cannot make a connection to get his dope. >All I want to do is get back to you< He does not want to be sick. He wants to get to his dealer who has the dope that gets him high. >“Connection,” I just can't make no connection< He can’t find good dope where he is; he wants to get back to his usual and ordinary supplier or who ever his dealer sends around to make the delivery. Plainly you can understand that he wants his dope. >Everything is going in the wrong direction< He got some weak dope. >the doctor wants to give me more injections< Some Junkies are particularly adept at shooting up fellow dopers. These helpers are often called Doc. Some do not have to buy dope to feed their habits at all; they get a taste from the people who they facilitate shooting up. Keith clearly says that his Doctor wants to give him more injections. That means his shooter is with him in the airport or wherever, and is ready to shoot him up again, but they do not have good dope to inject. >Giving me shots for a thousand rare infections< No matter what the problem physical, or physiological, some form of drug is the desired cure. The only hope is dope. >And I don't know if he'll let me go< If he can’t find what he needs soon, the Doc is going to leave him, and he will have to shoot up himself. >Everything is going in the wrong direction< The dope that they just shot is bunk. >The doctor wants to give me more injections< They need more dope to get him well. >Giving me shots for a thousand rare infections< Junkies have thousands of reasons why they need a fix, but the solution to all ills, is only one. >My bags they get a very close inspection, I wonder why it is that they suspect 'em< People who hang with Junkies are suspected of doing drugs to? >They're dying to add me to their collection, And I don't know if they'll let me go< Just because his friends do drugs what makes you think he does to? |

| The Byrds – Full Circle Lyrics | 14 years ago |
It seemed like he wrote this for the Byrds reunion. But he wrote it before, and performed it with other singers before it turned up a central Byrds reunion song. Hay I don't know what is going on here but that song above is not the Byrds Full Circle. These are the words to the song written by Gene Clark and performed on the Byrds Full Circle record. " Full Circle Song " Funny how the circle turns around First your up and then your down again Though the circle takes what it may give Each time around it makes you live again Funny how the circle is a wheel And it can steal someone who is a friend Funny how the circle takes your flying And if it's it right it brings you back again Funny how the circle turns around You think your lost and then you're found again Though you always look for what you know Each time around it's something new again |

| The Byrds – Satisfied Mind Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| The song is about the true value of material things compared to being true to yourself. If your possessions are keeping you awake at night, sell down to the sleeping point. While I love the Byrds version, like so many of their songs that I have heard a hundred thousand times. It is refreshing too hear other covers go Byrd songs. One in particular was sung by, and played at the young Jeff Buckley's funeral. The original was written and performed by Porter Wagoner. | |

| Dave rarely does this song in public, if ever. I think it is too painful for him. I don't know how the Byrds ever got it out of him. It shows what great song writer he really is. Neil has nothing as good. It speaks of a love of his that died under mysterious circumstances back when the Byrds just got going. | |
