Running Dry (Requiem For The Rockets) Lyrics
Oh, please help me
oh please help me
I'm livin' by myself
I need someone to comfort me
I need someone to tell
I'm sorry for
the things I've done
I've shamed myself with lies
But soon these things
are overcome
And can't be recognized
I left my love
with ribbons on
And water in her eyes
I took from her
the love I'd won
And turned it to the sky
I'm sorry for
the things I've done
I've shamed myself with lies
My cruelty has punctured me
And now I'm running dry
I'm sorry for
the things I've done
I've shamed myself with lies
But soon these things
are overcome
And can't be recognized
oh please help me
I'm livin' by myself
I need someone to comfort me
I need someone to tell
the things I've done
I've shamed myself with lies
But soon these things
are overcome
And can't be recognized
with ribbons on
And water in her eyes
I took from her
the love I'd won
And turned it to the sky
the things I've done
I've shamed myself with lies
My cruelty has punctured me
And now I'm running dry
the things I've done
I've shamed myself with lies
But soon these things
are overcome
And can't be recognized

Incredible song, i love how the more I explore Neil Young, i always find more wicked songs
anyway, i think this song is about a lonely person who is reflection on all the bad things they've done in their life (such as leaving their love) and they want someone who they can confess this stuff to
The rockets was the group from which Crazy horse was formed...danny whitten, ralph molina and billy talbot were in the rockets along with Bobby notkoff who plays the violin on this song.
they released one album, which if you can find is definitely worth the listen....the other two members of the rockets leon and george whitsell later joined crazy horse for the Loose album (or is it "at crooked lake")
This is a touching song of penitence. To the secular, the need to confess cannot be met by a man in a booth or an apology to a God. And in writing a song about his inability to confess, he does exactly that.
Requiem mass for the dead.
