| Frank Turner – Worse Things Happen At Sea Lyrics | 10 years ago |

@[MrTangerineSpeedos:6979] That line "At least you never tried to fuck my friends" is kind of a joke, and a play on words actually. The woman he is talking about did sleep with "friends" of Frank's apparently but in doing so, they are no longer Frank's friends. It's kind of beautiful how such a shitty circumstance can produce such a powerful song. I am sorry that happened to you too though dude. I hope things are much much better for you now <3 |

| Rosa – Milkcrates Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| I think it has to do with anxiety and kind of the unsureness of growing up. It's like how they are both kind of relying on each other to find that comfort that they are missing because they don't feel secure in their direction in life or as people just yet. I agree with though, it could be that strange in between that is college. | |

I agree this whole song is about growing up. No doubt about that. I have been thinking about the chorus per se. I think while the rest of the reflects what he is doing outside of himself, in reality and the chorus is him figuring out himself and his own personality. You can wear your fur Like a river on fire But you'd better be sure If you're making God a liar I'm a rattlesnake, babe, I'm like fuel on fire So if you're gonna get made Don't be afraid of what you've learned First and second line I took as establishing yourself. "You could wear your fur" kind of you could be any person you want but "like a river on fire" suggests that it isn't a natural personality to that person. Third and Fourth I took as being sure of the person you have become and not being untruthful to yourself. Fifth and sixth , "I'm a rattlesnake babe, I'm like fuel on fire" took me a bit more to consider. When you think about rattlesnakes you may not noticed they are their until the last second when you hear them and if you are not completely comfortable with them, then you can not stop seeing it and hence you get hit with the "fuel on fire" line. So perhaps he is trying to say that he may seem like a subtle person but he has established himself as adventurous and wild personality. and the seventh and eighth lines:"So if you are gonna get made, don't be afraid of what you learn" I took this as as you are finding yourself and establishing who you are, don't be afraid of who you realize you are. |

This is such a fun song. I think the first lyrics are in reference/contrast to "This is Why I'm Hot." That song is really bitter and you could tell Sean is feeling depressed and trapped in his situation while this is song he still maintains that bitterness but has a hopeful edge to it. Kind of, "yes the world is a mess but that doesn't mean I have to be." "I used to dwell in the present I used to be so hesitant But now I've got my whole life to live And I've got all my love to give" then in true AJJ fashion "To all you fuckers that I hate" |

I feel like this song is about a person who has felt alone for the longest time after being hurt from a past lover. He has had an epiphany after perhaps a night of drinking ("stomach screams a warning"? could be also just waking up and feeling hungry I suppose.) I think this song really capture that moment after said epiphany that he actually feels really great now that he has the ability to reflect on his past lover and well "postpone his slow recovery." By saying he is recovering it is safe to assume he was hurt. He is probably dating/with someone who doesn't respect him or he does not respect because he was hurt (rebound or whatever he could have gotten?) Upon waking up he has more confidence (as also emulated in the actual instrumental music, starting off with the ecclesiastical sound in the beginning and the excitement that continues throughout) and is happier because he realizes he doesn't need his past lover or whoever he with now to be happy. Thus he "can fall asleep tonight." What are your thoughts on my interpretation? :) |
