Beastie Boys – No Sleep 'til Brooklyn Lyrics 1 year ago
I actually think he says “Ain’t seen daylight since we started this band…” in reference to Aerosmith’s song “No More, No More” which begins with the stanza “Blood stains the ivories of my daddy’s baby grand, I ain’t seen the daylight since we started this band.”

Eazy-E – Eazy-er Said Than Dunn Lyrics 13 years ago
Here are some of the corrected lyrics (as I hear them anyway):

First Verse:

"Suckaz stay away because yo they know the time"

"They won't play it if I cold act ill"

"But I'm doper than anybody who tries to cope
With the rhyme I'm displayin'
And the beat that's playin'
Yo you could try all day
But you still won't match up with the ruthless pile"

Second Verse:

"Just pop the tape in and it's just like you're there"

"Boy, master rhyme is a toy
I'm eatin' steak while ya suckin' what the girls enjoy"

Third Verse:

"(M.C. Ren: but what if she's ugly?)"

Interpreting Eazy's lyrics is usually Eazy-er said than dunn. WOOO!

Agree this song is amazing. I believe the second-to-last line is "Love to just get into some of your stories" though.

Nice catch on the missing lyrics....but I believe the last line is "eternally free yes, and eternally young."

Pretty sure the first two lines of the second verse are:

"Now hold your handle to the plow
Work the dirt 'till the sun goes down"

Anybody else notice how this song shares a lot of similarities (both sound and meaning) with Farewell Ride?

I think "hijacked flavors" might also refer to playing cover songs...just a thought.

I'd say fnordatpanix pretty much nailed it - and i'd say the line "Well I cursed and I cried, but now I know" can pertain to so many different trials/tribulations in life - they're usually painful at the time but they lead to wisdom and expeience...the key is to learn from it.

I've always had a hard time figuring out whether he's talking about how he treated her ("I f*cked you over") or talking about how many times the two of them were intimate ("...over a million times"). Pretty certain it's the first scenario.

Freedy Johnston – I Can Hear The Laughs Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is about being scorned and laughed at by others for issues you're struggling to control and covering up the pain by acting happy as if it doesn't bother you ("and it hurts so bad I have to smile").

In the first verse, the problem is some form of substance abuse and in the second, the problem is being overweight.

I like how the happy melody is in stark contrast to the song's content - a fitting ending to a great album.

Agree with the Lou Reed/Velvet Underground theme - surprised nobody mentioned the "Southern Corruption" as a reference to Max's Kansas City. I think as it relates to the overall theme of "We Have the Facts...", the narrator has skipped town (seemingly to NYC) following the wedding in the Company Calls songs and perhaps is attempting to connect with Lou Reed in an effort to forget about everything? Either way, this is a great song.

I disagree - pretty certain she was murdered, and the narrator is warning his daughter about avoiding a similar fate ("You ought to lock that door, somebody might get in, didn't I teach you that?"). My hunch is that he killed her ("no matter what i've done"), but perhaps somebody else murdered her and what he "did" was abandon his family ("I know I never should have gone away"). Anyway, what a fantastic song.
