I think it's about finding who he is and going on to start his new life as an adult after college. In other words "growing up." |

I think it's about his old town and relationships holding him back so he has to move on. The whole "I had a pet wolf until I needed a coat" really sells that meaning to me. |

I think it's about a falling out with a family member (probably his mom or dad) and how they made him and his siblings leave the house for some reason. |

The lyrics are pretty self explanatory. He dwells on the negative which only makes him slip further into a pit of depression, self hatred and alcohol abuse and then the cycle repeats. |

Oh bummer, they won't display lyrics due to copyright. :( Anyway, I think this song is about how consumerism can be used to create complacency in the populous. |

Please disregard this statement. It was a rather thoughtless opinion that I didn't really think through and no longer hold as true. I would delete it but I don't know how. :P |

I'm pretty sure it's about a loved one dying and him wishing she was still around. I know the feeling, my mom died after a long battle with cancer last September. You always wonder if they are still out their somewhere but you have no real way of knowing. |

| Chavez – Tight Around The Jaws Lyrics
|
|
I think it's about a guy who is questioning his sexual orientation. The lines "his drilling will stick" sounds like a gay encounter and the line "you'll come to second guess the smile she gave you" makes me think of possibly losing interest in girls. It could also be about homophobia, particularly the lines "I'm here to tell you that you're playing with dolls and making explosion sounds, everyone heard" (little girls frequently play with dolls and little boys tend to make explosion sounds when playing with toys). The line "tight around the jaw" could refer to the sexual repression homosexuals feel. It could also be about questioning your sexuality and homophobia, possibly the fear of homophobia when considering you might be gay. |

I'm pretty sure that this song is about learning who you are and accepting it. I don't think the line about the switch in his head and the colors is a drug reference. I think it's just about self discovery and acceptance. |

| Silverstein – True Romance Lyrics

I think pinkninja is right. The characters in this song are different, otherwise unrelated characters who are trying to appear perfect to impress other people when they are just human like everyone else. There are two story lines going on in this song. Ones about a girl who can't be tries to be in a relationship but she can never seem to find the right guy so she tries to look perfect. The man is trying to make a lot of money so he gain self esteem but then the stock market crashes and he loses it all. In the end the man loses his wife because she only loved him for his money so he commits suicide. The girl realizes that she doesn't need someone for a relationship and is fine being alone. Very insightful song, probably one of Silverstein's best. |

I think JeremyB1 has it right, it's about people lying to themselves to make it seem like things are okay when it's not. I can totally relate to that. Almost everyone I know is like that and the ones who didn't used to be like that seem to have become that way. Life is shit sometimes. |

| Toro Y Moi – Still Sound Lyrics

My interpretation is that it has two different narrators, one is a person who is away from home and homesick and the other is from the friends and family who miss him. Quite a good song. |

| Evergreen – Trudy Pushpin Lyrics

For some reason I get the feeling this song is about a child molester. Child molesters will often attract kids to there house with fun things like butterflies and trains so they can molest them. "Other things I liked to watch fly" could refer to children who were innocent before this man hurt them. I don't know, seems more like something you'd write a song about rather than some guy who just killed butterflies. |

| Funeral for a Friend – Hospitality Lyrics

I think it's about the euthanasia debate, it's taken from a person who wants to die in peace but they won't let him. Sort of like the whole thing with Terry Schiavo, people keep trying to use him for political purposes but in reality he just wants to die in peace. It could also be about his time in the hospital as other people said but the first impressions I got were about euthanasia. |

| My Chemical Romance – Early Sunsets Over Monroeville Lyrics
| 15 years ago

On one level I think it's about zombies but like most of MCR's other songs there's a deeper meaning underneath. It's a metaphor for a couple (probably Gerard and his ex) who were having a great healthy relationship but then the girl got hooked on drugs and spiraled down word and now the narrator has to either choose to "kill"(break up with) her or stay with her and become a "zombie"(an addict) too. I love this song it touches me deep down in my soul not to mention the guitar work reminds me of early 90's like Cap'n Jazz or early At the Drive-In(which is a VERY good thing). |

This song is an amazing song. It's just so beautiful and sad. It's about never feeling like you can totally fit in with the rest of the world, like there's never a place where you can feel completely at home. Contrasts nicely with "Woke Up in a Car". |

| These Arms Are Snakes – Tracing Your Pearly Whites Lyrics

|
I think it's about someone who lets people(or maybe even the system) push him around because he's too weak to fight back. I think all the dental references are sort of a play on the phrase "bite the hand that feeds" like the hand is right out there waiting for him to bite but he's to wimpy to do it. The other meaning I thought made sense was life's short so don't by standing around doing nothing because you'll regret it. |

I'm pretty sure it's about drug use most likely heroin("find your favorite vein...push it in like a push pin") or crystal meth("deep black gums changing from the inside".) Then again "deep black gums" could be a reference to black tar heroin. That would make sense. Yeah, it's definitely about heroin. |

I think it's about American culture more specifically the excess, materialism and conformity that's within our culture especially the music today. I think Gerard said that this is sort of an "anti party record you can party too" so that kind of fits. At the end he's sort of saying that he won't conform to the drugs and partying culture of today to fit in/sell records. Still not as good as anything on Three Cheers but pretty fun song with a good message nonetheless. I like this new direction. |

That seems to fit the lyrics. Too bad they kind of left the scene and became mainstream. Don't get me wrong, I like The Black Parade and Danger Days looks great but I kind of miss there older style. It had a lot more emotion to it and a lot more balls. |

Hey dude, I love MCR and also love all those bands you mentioned and you are obviously insane. I can tell by the way your ramble mindlessly about nothing. And "fags?" Was that a homophobic comment? I don't care what you have to say about "emo kids" because some of them can be really narcissistic and shallow(SOME not all) but when you start to make statements about something people can't control then you have a problem. Oh yeah and I know your comment is three years old and you probably won't read it, I just felt like venting because close minded assholes like you piss me off. |

Dude, that was uncalled for. Just discuss the music and let people be. Oh yeah and Something Corporate are most definitely emo. If The Get Up Kids are emo and so is Jimmy Eat World why not Something Corporate? Dashboard Confessional is emo too. I don't get the idea that emo bands have to stay underground to remain emo, they just have to be punk or indie rock influenced music with confessional lyrics and heavy catharsis. |
