So I think this song is about domestic violence... "She hid around corners and she hid under beds" I take this line literally lol. "She killed it with kisses and from it she fled" Like she hid her pain in public, by giving kisses and pretending everything was okay "With every bubble she sank with her drink" Like she drinks to deal with it "Run fast for your mother, run fast for your father Run for your children, for your sisters and brothers" I think this part means to get out of the abusive relationship if not for yourself, then for everyone who loves you. "Leave all your love and your longing behind" You love this man, and you long for the abuse to just be done and you can live as a happy normal couple, which is the reason a lot of women stay in the relationship, the hope of things gettign better. "You cant carry it with you if you want to survive" If you keep this longing, you will stay in the violence. "And I never wanted anything from you Except everything you had and what was left after that too, oh" This could be something the man would say? Because throughout the whole song it's saying "she blah blah blah" so I'm thinking maybe this is supposed to be from him to her, like he's pretending he's innocent (saying he never wanted anything from her) but actually degrading her so she has nothing left "Happiness hit her like a train on a track" "Happiness hit her like a bullet in the back "Struck from a great height by someone who should know better than that" I don't think these are positive statements, although I can't really figure out how to say what I think they mean lol So there it is, my interpretation! :-D |

Well in an interesting contrast to what you guys are saying :-) the song makes me think of overcoming obesity, which can be labeled as an eating disorder as well I suppose! So many lines remind me of this! Especially the line "I just want to be the girl I used to be when I was me and worry free" (like worried about what other people think and whatever) and "I am gonna make it past the very start, It's always been my hardest part" because they say starting weight loss is the hardest part. and also the whole "independency" feeling of the whole song, like you can do it by yourself, you don't need anybody else, only you matters! :-) |
