| The Avett Brothers – Morning Song Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Yeah, I think it's about Seths divorce too. | |
| Two Gallants – Despite What You've Been Told Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Mine too! And actually, Steena (or rather Stina) is a girls name in swedish, so it makes perfect sense ;) | |
| Two Gallants – My Love Won't Wait Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I think it's "Something ain't quite right with me", not "Something ain't quite right to me" and "I can't seem to let you be" rather than "I can't seem to let you leave" and "Come by when you're most alone" instead of "Come back when you're most alone" and "Or I'ma tear your play house down" instead of "But I'ma tear your plate ass down" and "Don't you fret, don't you fear" instead of "Don't you threat, don't you fear" The way I interpret this song, is from the perspective of someone who refuses to realise a relationship is over, or that a person doesn't love them back. The narrator is obviously stalking and threatening the object of affection, standing outside his or her window, throwing stones when he/she is sleeping. It's a creepy and fantastic song, and I love it! |

I'd just like to comment about the desk job-thing (and also tap in to what Lnbodibic is talking about). I don't necessarily belive it's desk job as in the kind a lot of people do every day, I think it's more the "You that hide behind desks"-type of job (as Bob Dylan so brilliantly put it). Wow, that's a lot of desks in one post! |

| Pearl Jam – Goodbye Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Well, from what I know, he wrote these ukulele songs right around his divorce, but also after the accident at Roskilde, and I'd say this is about his divorce. Sad, sad, sad. | |

Yes, yes, and yes, dmb1bartender. Beautifully put. |

| Martha Wainwright – Bloody Motherfucking Asshole Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think it's fascinating how this song has grown into something much bigger than it started out as (and I mean that in the best way possible). BMFA is an epic, hymn-like song for every woman who's ever been trampled on or questioned, or who had to constantly prove herself. It's an anthem for every woman scorned and cheated on, without being about sacrificing yourself. It's about getting rid of the things that hold you back and hurt you. It's about rising from the ashes. And after 4 years, it still affects me every single time I hear it. |

| Regina Spektor – Uncle Bobby Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This song is definitely about Bob Dylan, she even sings it like him, which makes it all the more awesome. To me, the lines "But I'm so glad you've been born Unto us Unto us" could just as easily be about her, and I think most Regina fans would agree :) Aunt Regina, aunt Regina, I love you so! |

| Loudon Wainwright III – Pretty Little Martha Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I've probably called my parents far worse during my teenage years. Loudon also wrote "Hitting You" and "That Hospital" about Martha, which makes her perfectly entitled to write "Bloody Motherfucking Asshole". Anyway, I believe everyone has come to terms and made peace with things in this family. |

| Teddy Thompson – Think Again Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Might aswell post this so it shows: I've always imagined it to be about him sleeping with someone who has a lot of feelings for him, basically him taking advantage of someone who's in love with him. He's not in love with her, and he knows he shouldn't but he still does it. And then he regrets it, feels ashamed and he's basically telling himself to not do it again (or possibly telling her to be strong and stay away, cause he can't). He's not doing it because he loves her, he's doing it because it's easy sex. |

That's interesting, cause I've always imagined it to be about him sleeping with someone who has a lot of feelings for him, basically him taking advantage of someone who's in love with him. |

| Teddy Thompson – Separate Ways Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I love this, and I can relate to it so much, Teddy does heartbreak very well. One thing I've been pondering though, is the line "I'm turning into me, not you, I can change my mind not my blood". To me, it sounds like something someone with divorced parents would feel after a failed relationship. What do you think? It also breaks my heart the way he sings "And we'll go our separate ways, if you want to", signalling that he would probably stay with her if she wanted him to. |

| Gillian Welch – I Dream A Highway Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This song sends shivers down my spine, just reading the lyrics. I think it's about a lot of different things, you definitley get the feeling she's on a journey, literally and/or figuratively speaking. But I also get the feeling it has a lot to do with different peoples pasts and experiences. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's like she's telling a story about herself by using other peoples stories. Does that make sense? But then again, my interpretaions of this song changes with my mood, and maybe it shouldn't be analyzed at all. This is like an epic poem, and like someone said, very uch like a dream. |

| Teddy Thompson – I Wish It Was Over Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Even though this song is probably about a destructive relationship of some sort, I can't help but feel it is equally about him. In a way, there's so much self loathing in this song. | |
