Evans Blue – Erase My Scars Lyrics 14 years ago
I believe this song is about the conflict between what really matters and distract-ors. In the verses, he speaks about how he has lost what is true underneath the "wreckage" that was caused by "reckless" behavior. The reckless behavior is whatever made the protagonist forget what really matters, whether it be money, job searching, sex, or any other distracting behavior. After each verse, he says that he is working on defeating this behavior ("It's because I don't care what you think") In the second verse, "he still can't let go" of those behaviors, despite his desire to cut it off. The only part I really struggle to interpret is the part before the last chorus. For one, it starts off with an esoteric "Five years ago," which discloses personal experience. This causes me to understand who is personified within this part; the key part to this segment, to me, is the unprotection of the unknown. Is it a good thing or a bad thing? To relate to Chandler's nephew, the understanding of what matters is actually the nephew himself. The nephew's struggle helps wake up Chandler to see what really matters.

The chorus involves two speakers and is broken up into two parts. The first being from the first shout of "BROKE" and to the next shout. This speaker also says, "erase my scars." The first part of the chorus is simply stating that what matters, or the life of the nephew can never be reborn to him in this current life, causing anger and frustration.

The second speaker has one line: "Take a break from the lie you live." This speaker is the nephew. It is the nephew asking for Chandler to stop dealing with all the unnecessary activities of life, and remember what is true before his nephew dies. In a less esoteric interpretation, what matters is the speaker and is telling the protagonist to give up on the unnecessary activities, and to find what is true.

Egypt Central – White Rabbit Lyrics 14 years ago
I believe this song is ultimately about a relationship between another party. In this song, the other party is personified. This "person" in actuality treats the protagonist like crap, but the relationship between the protagonist and the other party still manages to stay intact due to the fantasy, which is where "Wonderland" takes shape. The guide to Wonderland is the White Rabbit. Due to the White Rabbit, the protagonist is saved from the hell that is in "real life" (Your magic white rabbit/your white room straight-jacket). Eventually the fantasy will be recognized as a fraud, which is where the line "your magic white rabbit has left its writing on the wall" comes into play. Traditionally, "writing on the wall" signifies doom. The doom in this story happens to both "Wonderland" and the real world relationship. The fantasy hits "a dead end" and there is no where to go but back up the hole. The protagonist, now set in the real world for good, can see through the fantasy, and view the problems for the first time. As he views the problems, he knows that he must disconnect himself, so he can "get what he deserves"
