| Three Dog Night – Never Been To Spain Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Just a fun song to listen to... I believe the general idea of the song is simply that your happiness/life doesn't have anything to do with where you are or where you live. Where you are born doesn't matter either. I get a kick out of the comment that he tried to go to Las Vegas, but only made in to Needles. Either he must have been lazy, or his car broke down.. I dunno. He doesn't even remember anything about Oklahoma. The song's narrator is most certainly not comparing Heaven to Oklahoma (that's ridiculous anyways...) |

| Kenny Rogers – Morning Desire Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| A thunderstorm at 7 AM is a rare event almost anywhere. I like how ths narrator wants to turn the oddity into a romantic endeavor. The phrase "Morning Wood" comes to mind when I hear this song. | |
| Kenny Rogers – Ruben James Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
These lyrics are far from perfect. The narrator of the song is certainly the 'hungry white child' referenced in the lyrics. |
|
| Kenny Rogers – Lucille Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
This is one of the greatest country songs ever written. Hal Bynum wrote this masterpeice, and Kenny Rogers elevated into a classic. As the 1977 CMA Song of the year, this hit topped the country charts for several weeks. |

| Kathy Mattea – Where Have You Been Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is one of the most beautiful and heart-wrenching country songs that has ever been recorded. The song applies the simple words "Where've you been" to 3 distinct phases in the life of a couple that grows old together. First they meet and marry, then they depend on one another. Later, Claire grows old and develops Alzheimer's disease. After many months or years of suffering with memory loss, she miraculously regains her memory when her husband of 60 years arrives in the room. The ending of thie movie, "The Notebook", might remind you of the last verse of this song. |

| Zac Brown Band – Got Whatever It Is Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The narrator of this song explains that he isn't the most eloquent man. He can't explain why he loves his girlfriend (to her or his acquantainces). The singer can only express his natural attraction with the his limited words. | |
| Clint Black – Nothing's News Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The narrator in this song explains the pitiful state of his life.. hanging out in a bar, and remembering the past. He explains his activities: playing billiards, listening to country music, and drinking after work. Since his life is has become so mundane, he now laments that nothing changes - "nothing is new",.."Nothing's News" | |
| Clint Black – A Good Run Of Bad Luck Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| These explanation are overly complex. The song is a simple comparison between gambling and entering love relationships. The narrator's description of falling in love is spoken with gambling cliches, instead of simpler lyrics. | |
| Darius Rucker – Alright Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Actually anyone can be a country singer. If you can play, sing, and write good music - you're in. Darius Rucker has proven he can do it all. Rucker grew up singing country music in South Carolina as his first passion in music, and you can hear the country influences in his voice and career with Hootie & the Blowfish. I agree with this song's attitude of gratitide. Focusing on what you have versus what you don't have can sure make your attitude better everyday! |
|
| Darius Rucker – Don't Think I Don't Think About It Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
The perspective of the songwriter represents a very mature reaction to large/small regrets he has while pondering a past relationship. He starts by telling the story of the final moments of his doomed love affair, then explaining that he has regrets when going through his daily life. He also explains that he wonders what their relationship might be like in the present-day. The narrator is content with the past, but just can't help thinking about the past. |

| David Nail – Red Light Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This song reminds of an upbeat version of Wade Hayes' "The Day She Left Tulsa". I like the song, Its pretty self-explanatory. How does he not know he is about to broken up with? Is she cheating on him? Did she get into a trucker's cab when she got out at the red light? That would be a good follow up song to write. I'd love for the lyrics to be expanded so we can hear more about his tumult. Wade Hayes' world crashed to the ground when his woman leaves in a "chevy in a hurry in the pourin' down rain." Then he goes on to rip your heart yet by explaining that she was pregnant, and he was shocked but accepting. Then he says it didn't get through to him right away that the baby wasn't his. Next he goes a step further by explaining that he still loved her and wanted to tell her it was OK, but it was too late - she'd already left Tulsa. Wow. That's how you tell the story of your tumult. C'mon David Nail. Did she get out because your driving was bad? |

| Eli Young Band – Always the love songs Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
George Ducas and David Lee Murphy did a great job with the song, and its performed perfectly by the band's tight harmonies. I love the song. The narrator of the song recalls an earlier time in his life where he attended sing-alongs hidden back in the woods with a campfire. He remembers a few specific songs from those sing-alongs, but the love songs that set the mood for his romances were those that truly stood out. I think this actually celebrates a bunch of kids hiding out in the woods to drink Boone's Farm Wine and make out. (although they never say it, that's what happens..). Throw in some guitar picking and all-night long "singing at the top your lungs" and you've got something to write about! Great job with this song! |

| Travis Tritt – It's A Great Day To Be Alive Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This song embodies the "attitude of gratitude" that can instantly help you change your mood from sulking to satisfied. This song is about celebrating happy little things: Soup, not having to shave... The verse: "It's been fifteen years since I left home Said good luck to every seed I'd sown Gave it my best and then I left it alone Oh I hope they're doin' alright Now I look in the mirror and what do I see? A lone wolf there starin' back at me Long in the tooth but harmless as can be Lord, I guess he's doin' alright" I love this part. It poetically explains he's left his bygones behind him (which we all should). The wolf staring at him in the mirror represents his current troubles. He's not going to worry about his current troubles because they are "harmless". Whenever everything seems wrong, bad, or just plain unfair. Be thankful for the things that are good and wonderful in this life. It will instantly make everyday a "Great day to be alive"! |

| Glenn Frey – The One You Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
What an exceptional song. What do you think happened? Did she leave or stay? Anyhow, my guess is that she left if she was younger, and stayed if she was older (looking for marriage). |

| Johnny Cash – Five Feet High and Rising Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is one of my favorite songs. Notice the musical key of the song goes up a half step after each new "foot". His simple descriptions of the water levels paint a picture of his poor, rural viewpoint. You also understand he's a youngster by the frequent questions to his parents. The parents respond with a positive tone reminiscent of how a parent would speak to their young child. How many people in the present day would describe 4 feet of rising water as "Blessed with Rain". |

| Johnny Cash – Five Feet High and Rising Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Whatever your opinion on floods, they are a nuisance. Why would you want to get used to them? | |
| Johnny Cash – Understand Your Man Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| He is telling her to "understand" at two-levels. Whatever argument/"bad mouthing" that caused him to want to leave is the first thing she needs to understand. The second thing she needs to understand is that he's never coming back. After saying about 12 ways, it couldn't be any clearer. | |
| Johnny Cash – Wanted Man Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Johnny Cash telling us about his travels, echoes the fast-paced life of many of us who frequently travel for business. | |
| Johnny Cash – Wayfaring Stranger Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is not a song for Johnny Cash, or Eva Cassidy. "Poor Wayfaring Stranger" is a traditional folk song of unknown origin. There are many and varied opinions as to its origin. Some of the proposed origins are Appalachian folk, old Irish folk, and Catskills folk. Clearly the song is of a spiritual nature as the Wayfaring Stranger sings of the hardships of his temporal life passing by and refers to his journeying on to a better place. Regardless of its origins, it is a hauntingly beautiful piece of music. This song has been recorded countless times. I think of wary 1850's pioneers on the Oregon Trail when I hear this song. |

| George Strait – Baby Blue Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| George Strait won't sing this song in concert, because he gets choked up thinking about his daughter. | |
| Jefferson Airplane – White Rabbit Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song isn't about an LSD trip. This is a rebellion statement. How can you expect kids to stay off drugs if you read them screwed up stories like Alice in Wonderland??? | |
| Gretchen Wilson – California Girls Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I've spent a lot of time in some trashy Texas country bars. I've never seen a girl dirty dance to Merle... that's just weird. | |
| Ambrosia – How Much I Feel Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
The lyrics to this song are really sad. Its too bad, the chorus could be part of a very warming love song. Here's my take: The guy obviously had no choice whether or not he was leaving the relationship. The girl he loved made that choice for him, whether he was "untrue" or not. That's the way it goes sometimes, and its hard to accept. His attempts to reconcile were futile, and now he is left with a burning memory. While the last verses of the song are somewhat disturbing, you really can't blame him.. splitting up with the one he loved wasn't his choice. |

| Missy Higgins – Where I Stood Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I'm a guy, This is what I can assume from the lyrics: The line "I don't know who I am without you" defines the song. Since her relationship started, she has experiences some mental or emotional growth . She hasn't done anything to her partner, but her new-found emotional identity must be further explored outside of their relationship. Apparently her relationship has lasted so long, that breaking up is going to be troublesome. My Opinion: While its great that she solved her problem, and grew-up somehow - she is throwing away a perfectly good relationship. I wonder how the partner feels about being told that they haven't done anything wrond, and they are loved, but they'll need to find someone else? This song beautifully and poetically equates to the crappy "Its not you, Its Me" excuse that people give for breaking up. |
