Baby Blue Lyrics
She looked so much like a lady, but she was so much like a child.
A devil when she held me close, an angel when she smiled.
She always held it deep inside, but somehow I always knew
She's go away when the grass turned green
And the sky turned baby blue.
And baby blue was the color of her eyes.
Baby blue like the Colorado skies.
Like a breath of spring, she came and left,
And I still don't know why,
So here's to you and whoever holds my baby blue tonight.
She brought colors to my life that my eyes had never touched.
And when she taught me how to care, I never cared so much.
I try not to think of her, but I fall asleep and do,
And drift off where the grass is green and the sky is baby blue.
And baby blue was the color of her eyes.
Baby blue like the Colorado skies.
Like a breath of spring, she came and left,
And I still don't know why,
So here's to you and whoever holds my baby blue tonight.
And baby blue was the color of her eyes.
Baby blue like the Colorado skies.
Like a breath of spring, she came and left,
And I still don't know why,
So here's to you and whoever holds my baby blue tonight.
A devil when she held me close, an angel when she smiled.
She always held it deep inside, but somehow I always knew
She's go away when the grass turned green
And the sky turned baby blue.
Baby blue like the Colorado skies.
Like a breath of spring, she came and left,
And I still don't know why,
So here's to you and whoever holds my baby blue tonight.
And when she taught me how to care, I never cared so much.
I try not to think of her, but I fall asleep and do,
And drift off where the grass is green and the sky is baby blue.
Baby blue like the Colorado skies.
Like a breath of spring, she came and left,
And I still don't know why,
So here's to you and whoever holds my baby blue tonight.
Baby blue like the Colorado skies.
Like a breath of spring, she came and left,
And I still don't know why,
So here's to you and whoever holds my baby blue tonight.

i don't know the true meaning of this song, strait has never said either, some believe that its about his daughter's passing, and some think its just a simple song about a girl who leaves a guy. whatever the meaning its still a wonderful song.
George Strait won't sing this song in concert, because he gets choked up thinking about his daughter.
My ex loved this song - I was never exposed to it, I learned to love it. At the time I didn't know she would become my baby blue - at least now I can smile when I think of her...
This song is about a beautiful woman that was in a fling. She left such an impression on him, that he still thinks about her. Very pretty song.

My ex-husband once told me that when he heard this song it reminded him of me and my blue eyes. I never was able to listen to it again. I, too, had heard it was written in reference to his daughter.
