I always knew shitty weather sucks but never knew the effects constant nice weather could have on a person until the last couple of years. Unbelievable. Anyways, I like this band, I attribute their soft, happy sound to them being able to be outdoors in the sun, around natural water all day. |

| Akron/Family – Franny/You're Human Lyrics

miiriiam's quote is very applicable. Franny was going though a shift in though processes where she resisted any and all forms of preconceived worth. Living to "be someone" is no way to live at all, she expressed. However, Franny was a victim of already being someone, due to her appearances on A Wise Child; so....she's really just another example of someone wanting what they don't have. To me, wanting what you don't have is wanting what you don't have, regardless of the context.
...still...the vision I get of Franny is basically what I think of when I think of the perfect chick |

yeah man, this is a really sad song. meaning is self-explanatory, but, the inflection in his voice really sells how ordinary of a day he was having until the news broke. it conveys that surprise element really well |

good song, good lyrics...i feel its the fight, both individual and as a society, against selfishness; material and emotional selfishness. really like the "no way dividing whats yours or mine when everything's shining"

simple, straight forward message...or warning...when applicable, get out of the rut and do some shit...act on impulses to a degree. much easier said than done once routine sets in. |

| Incubus – Out From Under Lyrics
|
"resist, unlearn, defy"....i highly doubt this was an influence in the song writing, but, in Salinger's Franny and Zooey...Seymour says the only way to come to some sort of understanding about the world (through the context of religion) is to "unlearn the differences, between boys and boys, animals and stones, day and night, heat and cold"....
...we are just taught things paying no attention to ask why...its not easy to deconstruct any idea...it is very hard to see things without bias...anyways, the message is a great one...dont automatically accept someone else value system/beliefs as your own...think for yourself |

they havent even met and yet, the singer knows he wants the other person. i dig hopeless romanticism. it is, in my opinion, easy to like the idea of someone before actually knowing them...its cool to know its a common feeling |

definitely not about drugs....its a pretty straight forward song, basically saying "try not to feel like how this would feel". well-written and thought provoking...forcing listeners to do some thinking about how theyre living their lives, like many modest mouse tunes, also, perhaps the only song ever to use the word "cannery" in it? |

i know this.....kurt vonnegut once said "the year was 2081, and everyone was finally equal"

"All I want's some earth and seed
To only grow the things I need" from this and
"trying to get the seeds into the cold ground,
it takes some time to grow anything" from sowing season...
i think its just the idea of becoming anything or anyone you want to be takes time and is usually meant with resistance...whether it be from the general flow of the masses or from within...simplifying shit down the the bare necessities is hard...its very hard to go back once you have had something (either ideologically ((which is a word, although it is rough to pronounce)) or materialistically)...but i commend brand new for reassuring people to do it |

might be..."we all try to find a way"
....either way...brand new's four albums are pretty damn different from one another...name another band that retains a loyal following despite changing its sound and direction (both lyrically and vocally) as they have...its great to see...i think a lot of people who got into them in their teens have kind of grown in the same ways of the band (with our without the religious aspects)...im glad they make music |

despite the appearance of normality (signified by the playing of the national anthem...meant to convey safety), hes saying prepare yourself for the shit. "grab every bullet that you own" because eventually the problems that are being overlooked will have to be faced, and the longer we put it off the more directly they will have to be taken on.
...on a side note, i really like what this band is doing. |

unreal its been an entire year since this song has been touched...this was in pretty heavy rotation for me abour 7 years ago and now i probably go monthes without hearing it...partially because dashboard is now shittier...
...the dialogue in this song is what makes it good, in my opinion. it makes it so relatable. makes meeting strangers seem possible and easy. |

song's meaning is easily understood, so, defining it isnt important...but the "i know me but you dont me me as i dont know you" is about as simple as it gets. if everyone could keep that in mind more often a lot of little fights...that sometimes turn into big fights...(romantically, politically, concerning anything)...could be averted. its nice to be hit with simple words that sum up enormous ideas. |

"no ones looking that bothered, why is no one that bothered?"
such an applicable line to so many things. i dont know why or how its meant in this song, but, im glad they wrote it. about being used, i dont think hes talking about being used by another person but by a larger thing...by people...now in a societal sense, but just a human sense. how people not being bothered by his distrust makes a mockery of being all in this together |

i dont know if i see any salinger connection, with the cat, theres a chance, but in reference to "Teddy" and the elephant being big only because were taught that theyre big, i just dont see it.
...i really like his description about what the kid did throughout the long ride, you wouldnt think 'battleship' and 'crosswords' would be things found in great song lyrics but each makes this song great. i like his mentioning of his teacher being more impactful than any politician or musician was...a lot of teachers don't live up to the standards of what it means to truly teach. with the benefits and the diminishing lack of prestige tied to the position, it makes sense. but, to the teachers out there that do influence and lead, they make up for the majorities shortcomings. One quality teacher, at any age, gives hope to the academic institution. this is a cool way of giving them their due because you will never hear them asking for it. |

this is a deeper thing than a one night stand. it seems like its about a meeting of two people who just met, liked everything about each other, got their great night anf parted ways in the morning...very much like any love affair encountered by a teenager on his/her summer vacation to the beach or whatever. you think about that person the whole ride home, maybe even call her...from a roadside telephone....but eventually it fades and that night dissipates...still...cmon, everyone has feel in love on vacation as a kid...great tune |

also, that last verse, of her seemingly regretting her decision of jumping while falling....i cant imagine a more gut-wrenching emotion that than, no one can ever explain that severity of that emotion with words, but the music m/o accompanies that verse with def. helps its cause of recreating that. |

its 'grab your shiny boxing gloves'
...aside from that, i like top think of him referencing a friday night out with someone, a girfriend/boyfriend or husband/wife...as a fight. all the ups and downs of a night with someone...good conversation/forced conversation....good silence/bad silence. all that shit, it just parallels to a multi-bout fight very well |

"and all the marks on her arms

| Manchester Orchestra – She Found A Love Lyrics

i think the "she was a princess and he was a bastard" line is the pivotal line in this song. i believe its referring to his mother and his father....or some relation of his, im not too sure of the familiar background, but he mentions something in anotherr song about being the only son of a bastard who knows the bastard, too, so, thats why i assume its his mother and father.
....anyways, in a wierd way, this song makes me really kind of love and loathe the woman he is writing about. in my opinion, a lot of people are in relationships where, from my outside opinion, there is someone undeserving of the other. this song illustrates that perfectly. i hope she got out and someone who deserved her met her. |

hop on your bike on any day, any weather, and play this album and it will make you happy...even the seemingly sad songs seem upbeat. youll feel very good for doing so
...i like how simply he expresses the roles he plays for this particular person...hes anything they need him to be...and he accepts what he is....trying to fight what role you play in a persons life will only result in arguments and uneasniness...accepting your role is what its all about...in my opinion |
