Woodkid – Wasteland Lyrics 14 years ago
This feels like a counterpart to Iron to me. That song is about a soldier broken and muted by the horrors of war and the deeds he's done, this feels like that same person returning home and slowly coming back into himself with help from a loved one. Excellent songs, whether they bear a relation to each other or not.

Admiral Fallow – Delivered Lyrics 15 years ago
I think this is about someone, an elderly relative perhaps, on life support. It's about being sat there and seeing someone you love hooked up to IV drips and heart monitors and who knows what else and knowing that none of it is really making a difference.

Whatever the meaning, it's a very beautiful song from a very talented band.

Harvey Danger – The Show Must Not Go On Lyrics 15 years ago
I wish they hadn't called it a day, but goddamn this is one hell of a eulogy for one hell of a great band.

R.E.M. – Half A World Away Lyrics 15 years ago
The impression I get is of someone longing for the one they love, but not in a "gone forever" kind of way. It seems more like a long distance relationship. I do read the line "my hand is tired" as masturbation, but I see it more as phone sex. The singer is lying there after the act, wishing that the one he loved was there with him, rather than half a world away as a disembodied voice on a phone. Just a thought.

Epic song. Not 100% sure I've got the lyrics right though.

Frightened Rabbit – Last Tango in Brooklyn Lyrics 16 years ago
I don't like the new version (Fun Stuff) as much as the original. There are some good ideas there, but as a whole it sounds messier, not as well balanced. Plus the vocals seem to get lost in the mix at times and with lyrics as perfect as these, that annoys me.

Frightened Rabbit – Swim Until You Can't See Land Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is a beauty. I love how different the feel is compared to the acoustic version Scott did for Off the Beaten Track, much dreamier.
I do have a few corrections on the lyrics though.

And the nautical board-man that drove me here to face the tide
I hear as;
And a nod to the boredom that drove me here to face the tide

And the rest of me is a burgeoned man, built to collapse into crumbs
I hear as;
The rest of me is a version of man, built to collapse into crumbs

Small differences I know, but marked up for the sake of (potential) accuracy.

Bell X1 – The Great Defector Lyrics 16 years ago
Nice spot Loueezee :) seems the "Of Mice and Men" influence is there in the whole of the first verse (the farmer's daughter teasing all the farm boys feels to me like a reference to the way Curley's wife is in the book).

Frightened Rabbit – Last Tango in Brooklyn Lyrics 16 years ago
Extrasupervery, I salute you. I only know about this utter gem because you put up the lyrics :)

So, the singer was in a relationship, had an affair which caused the relationship to break and is now pining for the girl he lost. Pretty straightforward, but damn I wish I could write lyrics like that. Incredible stuff, one of the reasons I adore Frightened Rabbit <3

Damn straight. In my opinion, the best ending to any Death Cab album.

Frightened Rabbit – Yawns Lyrics 16 years ago
Only one comment for this song? Shameful! I agree with that lyric interpretation though, sounds more like "bored hole".

One of the best songs from their first album. The meaning is pretty clear for me; it's a relationship that has lasted a long time and all the love and passion has drained away, leaving both partners bored. It's just a brilliant song; the way the lyrics combine with the wistful, regretful tune...God I love Frightened Rabbit.

Frightened Rabbit – Head Rolls Off Lyrics 16 years ago
"When my blood stops, someone else's will not."

That line makes me think this would be a great song for a give blood/organ donation advert. It's a real feel-good sentiment, makes me feel happier about everything :)
