Yawns Lyrics

Love infectious wind we breathe.
Fills up the bored hole that lust leaves.

He yawns.
She yawns as well.
She yawns because she's bored.
He yawns because he can't sleep anymore.

They go out, fill their mouths with drink and food so they don't have to speak.
And in between courses they're gasping for air, so they yawn and look at their feet.

She yawns.
He yawns as well.
She yawns because she's bored.
He yawns because he can't sleep anymore.

She yawns
And he yawns as well.
He yawns because he's tired
The girl that he slept with sleeps too soon at night.
When she yawns she tells the truth
That the boy she adores is just a man she's contracted to.
And what of you and me
Admit that you're bored
You need more electricity
I've had enough of love,
It just ends with two yawns in unison.

Only one comment for this song? Shameful! I agree with that lyric interpretation though, sounds more like "bored hole".

One of the best songs from their first album. The meaning is pretty clear for me; it's a relationship that has lasted a long time and all the love and passion has drained away, leaving both partners bored. It's just a brilliant song; the way the lyrics combine with the wistful, regretful tune...God I love Frightened Rabbit.

I might be wrong, but the first couple of lines should be :

"Love infectious wind we breathe. Fills up the bored hole that lust leaves."

non?

Amazing song!

I agree it is "fills up the bored hole that lust leaves".

Also in the last verse I am hearing "admit that you're bored, you need more electricity." Not too sure what he says before that but I'm not convinced it is "And what of you and me".

To be honest, I'd rather a relationship end like this. There's just been a slow drift between them and now there's just no passion or spark left. They're together still because it feels like a "contract" of sorts. I think in relationships the longer you're together, the harder it is to break up because throwing all that time away, or at least that's the mentality of it. I really love when he says "And in between courses they're gasping for air, so they yawn and look at their feet." It just sounds miserable, having to gasp for air because either the tension or awkwardness is so thick.
