| I read on their website that as An Horse was touring for thier first album, her mom fell very ill back at home. Her family was unwilling to tell her though because they did not want her to return home early from touring. Kate later went on to focus Walls on this experiacen of being so far from home when a loved one is sick. I believe that this song has to do with her mother and her illness and how she herself would fall apart if her mother did. | |

I just saw Kathleen in concert yesterday in Kent Ohio and she told us how this song came to be. She was going out to eat for her best friend's 30th birthday. At the resterant, she was talking to her best friend's mom who she has known since she was a child. Recently Kathleen had taken up jogging and when her friend's mom asked what was new she told her this. Then her friend's mom said that she used to run all of the time. She then proceeded to tell a story that non of her own children had heard before. In the imddle of the ngiht sometimes, she would go for a run down the street. She would run and run until she would collaspe into the street itself. She felt that when she ran all of her troubles melted away. After she literally couldn't run anymore, she would turn around and run back home. This story is what Kathleen modled her song after. In the song is talks about what her child came into her life 30 years ago, which is how old Kathleen friend was. It is a great song and it was terrific to hear live |

To correct what I have posted earlier, this probably isn't the case. After some reserch, I discoved that Alica Ross was a 25 year old Canadian woman who turned up missing in August 2005. Although her boyfriend was the prime suspect for a long time, eventually her neighbor was convicted of the murder."He told police he encountered her and they exchanged words ... I also think that the man may have rapped her before killing her by looking at the line And then he took me, Mamma so I could never tell you about it, as if to say that something happened and then he killed her so that she would be unable to tell any one what happened. Definatly my favortie Kathleen Edwards song. Even though the concept is quite brutal and terrible, it is such a beautiful composition. |

Wow, I cagn't believe that no one has commented on this song. Any ways, the meaning of this song should be quite hjhhgjghj dfdfdf oblivous, just about a girl who is with a terrible guy. What I would like to comment on however is the cleaverness of the A B C D E F G part of the song. I believe that she used those letters because they are the letters of music notes and as this song is called the cheapest key, listing all of them is quite approperate. Just my imput |

The very first time I heard this song, the lines "By the bright lights in some ICU Even the planless have a plan" stuck out to me because I am a Death Cab For Cutie fan and in one of their songs entitled "What Sarah Said" it contains the lyrics "And it came to me then That every plan is a tiny prayer to Father Time As I stared at my shoes in the ICU". I was just wondering if the plans reference in this song had any coralation to the death cab song. If so, that is awesome. |
