| Missy Higgins – Forgive Me Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I love how it is the man, and not the woman who takes the apple in the song. The woman who suffers because of what her husband did, it's strong imagery. As for what it means I'm not sure, however he has caused great pain by his actions to himself and worst of all to the one's he loves. | |

| Florence + the Machine – Never Let Me Go Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I don't think it is about suicide, I think it is about being overwhelmed by a certain feeling or emotion. Trying to fight it but realising you can't and shouldn't, and "giving in". | |
| Robyn – U Should Know Better Lyrics | 15 years ago |
LOVE this song, it is 100% Robyn. One correction, it is 'I crash the party with the tsar'...as in the Russian equivalent of king. |
| Katy Perry – Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Haha I agree | |
| Taylor Swift – Long Live Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree with Orange Duck, graduating high school was my first thought after hearing this song, but the thanks to everyone that helped out on her last album fits better. One of my favourites from the new album for sure, it is so uplifting like enchanted. |
| Miley Cyrus – My Heart Beats for Love Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Wow I didn't know that, makes me like her just that little bit more. | |
| Lady GaGa – Speechless Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is ridiculously good, I am already in love with the Fame Monster. I read somewhere this was about the death of her father, or something along those lines. |
| Adele – Daydreamer Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think it is a perfect analysis however. I love Adele anyway. |
| Moby – Wait for Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
no i agree with that trail of thought, primarily because of: "The life I have isn't what I'd seen The sky is not blue and the field is not green", it is just saying how everything didn't turn out how this person had planned, life just went wrong. a nice song anyway. |
| Moby – When It's Cold I'd Like to Die Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Yes I agree with Flick too. It is utterly perfect however. |
| Moby – Dead Sun Lyrics | 16 years ago |
utter perfection, one of my favourites on the album. as for the meaning, i think it is completely subjective which is what i love about it. |
| Missy Higgins – Nightminds Lyrics | 16 years ago |
this song is so relatable, almost like it was sung for me. "The highs would make you fly But the lows make you want to die", especially those lines. and yes, obviously it is about depression and helping someone you love fight it. |
| Explosions in the Sky – So Long, Lonesome Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This one is definitely my favourite on the new-ish album. As for the meaning, I think it is completely subjective, however I see it being a hopeful song about new beginnings. It is hard not to be happy when listening to it, :) |
| Moby – Jltf Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is so beautiful, as is the whole album. As for the meaning, I get a sense of boredom and that the writer feels the world is dull. |
| Rufus Wainwright – The Maker Makes Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Story of my life is all I can say. I agree with the above posts, considering this was written for Brokeback Mountain, it is about the complex relationship between the main characters. Dealing with their inability to openly express their love due to society's and god's or the 'makers' constraints. I haven't actually seen the movie, anybody know if it is any good? |
| Green Day – Restless Heart Syndrome Lyrics | 16 years ago |
One of my favourites on the new album. I agree with other posts, it is about being your own person, an individual rather than conforming to what others want you to be. I think this should be released as a single, along with 21 Guns. |
| Green Day – 21st Century Breakdown Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Like the other post, I do partly agree with what you said. However I think there is a lost more to this album than the narrow minded view you described. 21 Guns for instance is not mocking America, it is just an anti-war song and See The Light, along with the introduction to the album are about hope for the new administration in my opinion. So while you have some valid points, I think you just scratched the surface. Anyway I think the new album is fantastic, certainly worth every cent. |
| The Strokes – Between Love And Hate Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song always reminds me of Is This It, from the first album. And I think it is more the aftermath of a breakup. Top song anyway. |
| Lily Allen – Him Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It is not about dissing god you idiot, it is about how wrong our scoiety is. "And if there is some kind of god do you think he's pleased When he looks down on us I wonder what he sees" she is saying what would god think of all the stupid decisions we make. I personally love the new direction she has gone in. |
| Coldplay – Clocks Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song has become one of my favourites of all time, it is simply beautiful. As for the meaning I think it is about making the most of life's opportunities, and the confusion associated with the modern age, or something along those lines. |
| Adele – Chasing Pavements Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I don't know if anyone has said it yet, but the "chasing pavements" isn't metaphorical, it refers to an incident that occurred at 6AM one day after a fight with that person during which Adele was running down the street alone. She thought to herself "What you're chasing is you're chasing an empty pavement." or so Wikipedia tells me. Wonderful song however, it sorta sounds like Mushaboom, the start anyway. |
| Dido – Northern Skies Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I just looked and yes your right it is, slightly changed however. It is still a wonderful song. |
| Dido – Northern Skies Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Favourite song on the album. For some reason I always think of the book, the Northern Lights when I hear this. It is obviously about returning from a vaction "I have left a million stars And an ocean light and clearly blue" somewhere tropical and with little infrastructure, hence she can see the stars. And now she has come home to Britain "Northern Skies" and for once she finds happiness there and has a greater sense of appreciation for the place she lives in. That is my interpreation anyway. |
| Dido – Look No Further Lyrics | 17 years ago |
One of my favourites on the album, along with Northern Skies and It Comes and It Goes. And it is: "I might have loved a king been the to end a war" + "I can stop and catch my breath" I love the song anyway. |
| Annie Lennox – Into the West Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song is the only song that has ever made me cry, it is simply beautiful. it is supposed to be a bittersweet lament sung in the perspective of galadriel about those sailing "into the west" aka the undying lands. and yes i think it is partially about that director who has currently slipped my mind, so it could be about life after death in heaven. it was such a perfect song forthe end of lord of the rings. |
| The Killers – Human Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i like this song, it does sound more like hot fuss, it is brilliant. as for the interpretation i think Icarus Fixius has it right, i think it is along the same lines as tranquilize in respect to the state of the world/our humanity. anyway i can't wait for the album, if it is as good as this i'll be happy. |
| Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics | 17 years ago |
And finally I think this part.. "So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye? So you think you can love me and leave me to die? Oh, baby Can't do this to me, baby Just got to get out Just got to get right out of here" Indicates that he is not going to lay down and die, he is going to show the world how great he can be. I like Hvnly777 take on it though. |
| Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics | 17 years ago |
First of all I would like to say I adore this song, it is just pure magic. I'm not sure what this is about, but I know for sure it is not about AIDS because he foudn out he had the disease later on. I think it could be him dealing with his inner demons and how the world often shunned his homosexual lifestyle (including his family). And therefore that leads him to compare himself to Galileo who was also shunned by society. But that is just an opinion, doesn't necessarily mean it is true. |
| The White Stripes – Seven Nation Army Lyrics | 17 years ago |
And I meant to add that I also think it could be metaphorically speaking about a war, as often suggested. But perhaps not singling out one in particular, but all. And yes it seems he is speaking from a soldiers perspective or one who empathises with them. |
| The White Stripes – Seven Nation Army Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm not entrely sure what this is about, but I think it may be about the his struggle with being in the spotlight and constantly criticised. And that would be why he wants to go "far from this opera forever more". I think it is also about self doubt, he doubts whether he can live up to what everyone is telling him to be. And yeh.... |
| The Cat Empire – No Longer There Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yes rachy_cool is right, it is about global warming and what could/will happen if we don't do anything. Brilliant song, it has a very solemn feel to it. |
| John Lennon – Imagine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Also I agree with pthalomarie, I meant to add that. | |
| John Lennon – Imagine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is one of the greatest songs of all time, if not the greatest. It is basically my personal anthem. We need to truly imagine a world as one, without anything he speaks of. |
| The Beatles – All You Need Is Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is one of my favourites by the Beatles. It is so simple but so true. "All you/we need is love". |
| Oasis – The Shock of the Lightning Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this song explains the mysteries and realities of love in everyday life. I could of course be completely wrong but that is just what it seems to me. This is a good direction for Oasis however. "Love is a time machine / up on the silver screen" I always thought that referred to the simplicity of love/life in general portrayed in those old school movies and he wants to go back to that. |
