I can't believe there's so many people who actually think Warrel Dane is a Christian! Ugh.... |

Jim Sheppard says in an interview: "Warrel attributes to just kind of summing up the emotions he went through with writing a record as personal as Dreaming Neon Black. That's just that no matter how desperate things seem there's a little light at the end of the tunnel. If you look hard enough there is a positive message in that song." |

I agree with what everyone else said about being insignificant in the world, but I don't think that's a negative thing. Christians believe humans are a "higher being" than anything else in the world. I think it is a wonderful thing to realize how awesome everything else in the world is. Like standing at the base of a mountain and reveling in it's beauty, but feeling like a tiny speck at the same time. |

NunyaBiz....I find it highly unlikely that he'd believe in God. As I said in another post, the closest I've seen to him saying whether he does or not is him saying he has the oposite beliefs of Dave Mustaine (Megadeth)...who is Christian. But as Warrel himself said, his lyrics are vague and can be interpreted different ways, that is what he wants. If he told us all the answers, it wouldn't be so interesting. |

I agree with Nauseam....the whole DNB album IS inspired by his fiance disappearing to a cult....but not every song is exactly about that. Some are about the fucked up world that caused her to do something like that.....including our decietful government. |

| Nevermore – A Future Uncertain Lyrics

"to....let chance form your infinate design" to me means your life is based on chance, not "planned" like a religion would tell you. "I hate the way you judge me..." meaning religious people who think he's nuts and won't listen. Can't we just understand we have differences and get along?
"Why do we have to say the things that subvert the minds of youth?" Refering to things kids learn in school that are biased and not true, but we still have to tell kids these things so that we aren't putting them in the middle of a controversy by telling them the truth.
"to set your mind free, you must first just listen" - to truly open your mind, you must listen to others, don't just stand by your narrow view of things.
"Reaction in the earth and sky is coming at fast pace" - the damage to our earth (reaction of it to our abuse) is growing fast.
Not sure about the "plague". I think the change that needs to happen for us to survive needs to be extremely severe for it to make any difference.
And again, "to set your mind free, you must first just listen"....listen to what he is saying, don't assume he's wrong....you have been warned. |

I think this is about someone dying....possibly his mother.
In a recorded interview, he says it is about his fantasy goth girl wearing leather and stuff....I had to laugh when I saw that. Considering his obvious emotions when describing the song "Brother" I think he made up this explaination because the real meaning is too painful to repeat. |

blackened, what is your deal? If you hate Warrel so much, go post comments under songs you LIKE. Insulting a band to a group of people who love them is futile and childish.
Anyways, this is a song I can really relate to. I always want to share what I know with other people, but not only do they not believe me, but they don't even bother listening. It is extremely frustrating not to be listened to no matter what you are trying to get across. He says "when I am dead, will you remember, all the things I tried to say?". It is exactly how I feel quite often. When I am dead, will people just think I was spouting off nonsense all my life, or will they actually consider what I had to say? |

| Nevermore – The River Dragon Has Come Lyrics

Those who talked about the dams bursting and stuff are right....but the song also says "Those who cannot remember the last, Fall away, far away, The distance meets its task"
"...the last" meaning the last time it happened... the river keeps overflowing but since these people believe it is a god-like "River Dragon" causing it, they just keep letting it happen instead of using logic and figuring out why it is happening or moving their village. Ignorance caused by a religion.
It actually reminds me of Katrina too...although obviously Katrina hadn't happened in 2000... But it was something they knew could happen but didn't do anything about. |

Thank you DancesWithSoda (cool name BTW LOL). I am atheist, which is part of the reason I LOVE Nevermore so much (the other reason being, yes, Loomis fucking rules). But I do not see why Blackened thinks that just because Warrel doesn't agree with him that he is un-educated? Warrel is actually highly educated. I get extremely offended when people insult him. It is out of pure ignorance and closed-mindedness that they do it, which is exactly what Warrel speaks out against! Who cares what religion he is? He has a right to speak of what he believes, if you don't like it, don't listen to it! (but at least listen to Jeff Loomis....haha) And don't go around putting it down in a place where obviously everyone else likes him. |

No more comments? This is one of my FAVORITES. Love Warrel's range of vocals in it. I think it's about people being dumbed-down by society, the media, pop culture, etc. "The will of strong mind he'll never deceive"....pretty much says if you are strong-minded, you are immune to this. You can read between the lines, you don't just believe what you hear like most people. |

exactly, banekeeper....the lyrics pretty much tell you this straight out even without knowing that. Nothing really metaphorical about it. One of their rare straight-forward songs. |

I am not sure at all about this one....I've thought maybe a girlfriend, or god, and the idea of a drug addiction makes sense too but then you have to consider that he almost died from alcoholism a few years before this and so this was a "totally clean" album for him....unless he's just speaking about against drugs? |

| Nevermore – Believe In Nothing Lyrics

According to the video for this song, some of you are right, it is about not trusting anything. But I don't like the video LOL. I think the song is too beautiful to be negative (thanks to Jeff Loomis). I too, think it is about believing in nothing as in being Atheist....and I think that is a beautiful thing.
I am pretty sure Warrel is Atheist....he just does not ever COMPLETELY explain his lyrics or his beliefs, that is the beauty of it. You can interpret his lyrics different ways, I've heard him say that's what he wants. It keeps you interested even after the 1000th time hearing a song. On the other hand, if you don't get it, too damn bad, he doesn't care :) The closest I've ever seen him come to saying he is Atheist straight out (besides lyrics) is saying he has the complete oposite beliefs of Dave Mustaine (whom, as we all know, is a born-again Chrisitian).
As far as him questioning the existence of god....I don't know. I don't think so, but I could be wrong. I think he uses god as a metaphor and talks about hating the idea of god and how it holds people down. |
