| Genesis – In Too Deep Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
It's about commitment, insecurities, selfish behavior and timing. All this time, I still remember everything you said There's so much you promised, how could I ever forget. (I personally think this chorus comes from her point of view...and what she said still haunts him) Listen, you know I love you, but I just can't take this, You know I love you, but I'm playing for keeps, Although I need you, I'm not gonna make this, You know I want to, but I'm in too deep. (Seems like she was ready to take it to the next level - and he wasn't at the time. He is selfish and afraid to commit, could be due to bad relationships in the past, the issues and demons are eating away at him and consumes him. All this time she was there for him, supporting him, giving the relationship 100%, while he was only taking. She is spent, her spirit is broken, she can't rely on false hope, she is in too deep - so she moves on and cuts him off) Ooh I know you're going, but I can't believe It's the way that you're leaving, It's like we never knew each other at all, it may be my fault, I gave you too many reasons, being alone, when I didn't want to I thought you'd always be there, I almost believed you (He never thought that it would end like this - at first he is in denial about how it might have been his fault. He can't believe she is gone) So listen, listen to me, I can feel your eyes go thru me (She knows in her heart based on what she has been through that he will never come around - so she looks right through him and doesn't care any more) It seems I've spent too long Only thinking about myself - oh Now I want to spend my life Just caring bout somebody else. When she is no longer in his life, available for him, at his disposal - he realizes how he was selfish he was and now will be a better person for the next woman that comes into his life. This is my interpretation of it. |

| Depeche Mode – I Want It All Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It is from the perpective of a man who is may be unsure of his feelings for a woman. He doesn't want to lead her on, so he maintains a distance, yet crosses it from time to time - but remains detached. He knows that the woman would give him everything, but he can only be there "sometimes". I think he is in like with the woman but not entirely in love - and maybe he wants to be, which is why he is torn "sometimes I cry, sometimes I die". "I Want It All" means he wants to feel a love for her - all or nothing - but doesn't, but is willing to try. |

| Depeche Mode – A Pain That I'm Used To Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| My interpretation of this song is that the person is involved with someone who has committment issues and they have been in this situation before, hence, "Just give me a pain that I'm used to". They feel that the other person is not upfront about their feelings, yet they are so far into it, almost to the point of losing themselves. Clarification is sought after as to where or if their involvement will go anywhere. This person is completely obsessed and speculate wrongdoing - they are looking to the other person to show some kind of sign that rings true to what was conjured up in their head or some sign about how the other truly feels. Despite all of this, they know what they feel for the other person is real, there is no hiding it, they are still hopeful. | |
| Ultravox – Lament Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I agree with LuvMartinGore. Funny I woke up with this song in my head. It is an experience that I've been thru more than once in my life - falling for the wrong person. Some of us do not learn from past mistakes, we get so caught up in the moment and by the time you realize it your down the same road again. It's being hurt emotionally, getting back on that horse again, and to be knocked off again over and over...at least this is how I interpret it thru my own experience. | |
