I Want It All

A wonderful song which I like a lot.

In an interview, Dave Gahan described it as a song about his constant internal battle with himself: "I have evrything I need, so why don't I see that, or appreciate what's good in my life, and in fact, do my best to destroy it ? I naturally gravitate towards looking for the negative in something, even when it's good, - that could be my lovely wife or my lovely children. And I do gravitate towards things that aren't good for me - not necessarily drugs or alcohol, just the idea of having something good, then tearing it appart and being left with a piece of shit, almost like I want to push it away because I feel I don't deserve it."

This song is typical Dave Gahan fashion. Simple, but very heartfelt. This song clearly describes how certain individuals are never content. You have a river, but you want an Ocean. Totally true to many individuals in relationships. Could not have said it better. Perfect!

It is from the perpective of a man who is may be unsure of his feelings for a woman. He doesn't want to lead her on, so he maintains a distance, yet crosses it from time to time - but remains detached. He knows that the woman would give him everything, but he can only be there "sometimes". I think he is in like with the woman but not entirely in love - and maybe he wants to be, which is why he is torn "sometimes I cry, sometimes I die". "I Want It All" means he wants to feel a love for her - all or nothing - but doesn't, but is willing to try.

This song is so peaceful, it makes me think about being with someone that I really care about, and would do anything for them. I love depeche mode.

I think Dave is a very crooner artist.People always want more and the song tells it sensitively.Sometimes it's difficult to make realitonship work.Sometimes even trying is not enough but still try not to be back down for love.Perfect song!
