the last part, the part he sings slowly, is basically the whole meaning of this song. its about suicide and preventing it, not doing it. The last part:
"spotlights painted the building and the people gathered for the show...etc" its about a man about to jump off a building, and people are watching ("the crowd on the street"). the news people are just sitting there waiting for a story, the crowd is waiting for a show, the police don't really care and are just keeping peace. so it's about a man about to kill suicide, which fits into the them of the song. "don't look down it'll go away," is matt saying don't jump, you may have your problems but you shouldn't kill yourself. the other versus are about how fucked up the world is, which matt sings about often.
yeah, matt sings about the state of the world and tv's role in it a lot. i can't stand prime time deliverance. love the lyrics and meaning, but the song itself--the singing and the music just kind of bugs me. i like it as a poem tho. very powerful, as are all his songs. |

it sounds like love, but it doesn't sound like true love. it seems more lust and passion 'on my skin your finger', 'kissing over and over again'. just kind of sounds like theyre fooling around, ya know? like, they dont really sing about depth and real romance. it also seems like theyre singing about problems in a relationship, like how they say how they know that theyre lying to each other and how they're crying cuz 'its all built up inside'. i dunno, it's not a religiou song, but i dont think its about true love. more like, all the complications that come with it. and some words are a little wrong with these lyrics... |

I always thought he was saying 'there goes THE day' not 'today' but i guess it doesn't really matter.
this song is one of my fav shiny toy guns songs. its SOOO beautiful and omg his voice range is amazing. i agree that it's about drugs which is kind of disappointing. like, it's such a beautiful song, all of theirs are. its kind of weird when u figure out that such a beautiful and deep-sounding poetic song is about something dumb like drugs or a break up or love or something. but i still love this song. |

linkin park is really good, and their lyrics are actually kind of deep, but a lot of u fans are total dip shits that ruin their image. i mean, they have so much potential and their songs have so much beauty in them and you idiots are like, OMG!!!!! just because everyone else is like that. i'm not saying every fan of theirs is stupid some people actually get what they're singing about, but some of you people need to grow a fuc king brain and stop ruining linkin park for the rest of us. and music doens't have to be hella deep for it to be good music. there's nothing wrong with what they're saying if it gets the message across...i don't care what u guys say they're still amazing to me even if they're just a key into popularity for some... |

it took me YEARS to figure out what those girls were spelling. kick ass. yeah, this song is so beautiful on the outside, but listening to the lyrics its like...almost as mean as 'the fall of man'. i think it's like, both a love song and both the opposite of a love song. makes me think of 'double life'. |

i always was a little scared of this song. the whole thing at the end where he says 'what you don't know wont kill you' i thought he was saying 'want to kill you' so i was a little freaked out. and yeah, i think this song is supposed to be a little scary and terrifying, it's refletcing how everything's falling apart and that we should be scared.
and, like in 'buffalo seven', i think he's talking about the citizens when he says lambs and sheep and stuff. |

this, weapon, and near fantastica. best three songs of his easily in my opinion. gosh, this is so beautiful. i don't really get what it's about, altho i think it was inspired by a dream he had. he had an article on his website about a dream he had and it sounded fairly similar to the whole thing about coming across 'a clear' but i don't really know for sure. |

yeah, i think this is kind of a love song too. this song always makes me cry, even just reading the lyrics makes me tear up because...i dunno if any of you are singers but have you ever sang this song? i don't know how he did because every time i try i end up sobbing it's so beautiful. 'this is where the world drops off' is what gets me, and then the be carefuls just take it from there. i don't get why wikipedia says that 'apparitions' is his most famous song because this one is definitely the best out of all of them. in my opinion. |

this song means like, everything's going bad, all over the world cuz he says the names of cities and places. 'poor man's grey' i guess he's saying that everyone's equal 'poor mans' and that everything's gone sour 'grey'. and the heart and hate thing is so true. you can't really love if you're full of hate, and yov can't really hate if ur full of love. |

in this song he says 'can't fear fear, fear's the mind killer' like seventeen times. i think that not a lot of people see this as the most significant part of the whole song like i do. and the fact that he's kind of whispering when he sings it is so beautiful, i could just say that line all freaking day. this song also makes me think of like, the bourne movies. 'after this mission we'll let you go, help u to forget everything and everyone you know' i dunno it makes me think of the first movie, but obviovsly he's not singing about some movies in his songs lol. wow, there's so much symbolism in this song. 'born of the sea, blink, sea is dead'. what we came from is suddenly gone, something like that. and wow, this song is so beautiful i could go on and on about it for hours but i'm not lol. |

so yeah, i think the decomposing light is like, the world is getting worse and worse, like its decomposing. and the light symbolizes hope and good and stuff. and the thing about his native tongue...i think it's like, since he sings a lot about the state of the world, maybe he's saying that some people view that as bad, like, it's bad to talk about the world? and the whole thing about it's the one i'll write...maybe like, he hasn't given up even if everyone else has. and yeah, the whole closing your eyes and waking up thing can be like, ignoring it or fighting it. and the thing about getting up to fight is like, maybe talking about war and protests and stuff. the thing about fools and dogs...i don't really know. a dog sort of symbolizes someone following authority, which has gone corrupt. or someone who protects authority and fights for it and never really questions authorities intentions. but i don't get the thing about being a waste... |

yeah, i think this is about being addicted to meds, because he is bipolar and stuff. so like, ur addicted and part of u wants to take the drugs more than u should, but the other part doesn't want to, hence biting the hand thing. but then i think he's saying it's kind of hopeless if u are addicted, 'that's all there is, roll the dice' just like, accept it and see what fate brings you. and also about the double life, ur two people not really knowing inside.
but that bit at the end kind of confuses me. the fact that he doesn't get why everyone feels terrible because it's in fasion is like...i guess going against what everyone is saying. like, he doesn't get why ppl do what other ppl tell them to do. and if everyone is talking about it he just forgets??? i don't really know... |

well, okay, i didn't read anything about this song, but how i take it, the whole hand on/off the heart is about patriotism and like, love for your country. the whole things with lambs and wolves is like, the gov being a wolf treating us like lambs. life lives in the dark is very true, and therefore the thing about light switches is sort of like the solution to the life in the dark. like, if u turned on the lights and all. but the whole joking and kidding thing is like saying that there is no light switch and so life is always going to be in the dark. and the thing about lying down and no talking and that whole thing i think is just about fighting. u don't think u just act because that's what the gov is making u do. and the time refrences at the end is like, our country and world is falling apart and there's really no time left for it to be saved, which also has to do with the mindless action with the laying down and stuff.
but that's just me...i don't really get what buffalo seven is supposed to symbolize. |
