I agree that it's "beats unknown and untold"
and I think that it's
"the stone!
as i'm told, it unfolds" |

| The Twilight Sad – Cold Days From the Birdhouse Lyrics

I don't know why someone hasn't said this, but if you listen with any sort of good hardware it's obvious he's alternating between "where are your mirrors", "where are your morals", and "where are your manners". |

| Harvey Danger – Moral Centralia Lyrics

Sean said, when I saw them live at Spaceland a few years ago, that this song is about Centralia, Washington, that it's this "in between point" where Portland and Seattle residents tend to meet up. I thought it was about the Pennsylvania town, because that's more interesting meaning wise, that "winding up in centralia, morally" means that your morals are being eroded from the ground up, that there's a fire burning under the surface that is causing you to evacuate... but his "limbo" comments work, too. |

| Cake – Friend Is A Four Letter Word Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
I didn't read all four pages of comments, but I'm surprised no one suggested what has always been obvious to me.
The four letter word is "f*ck". This song isn't about a breakup but a guy in a relationship with a girl that is centered around sex. When she says he's her friend, what he hears is that he's her f*ck, her lay, and while they lie in bed together he "goes fishing" for words from her that might expose that she has some sort of feeling for him, but ultimately he knows she'll never love him.
Obviously the lyric "end is the only part of the word, that I heard" screws up this interpretation a bit, but I don't care. |

I am pretty much sure this song is about wanting to screw skanky bitches. I've done it. We've all been there. They're what condoms are for. |

I was going to say that I read online that it's "my cyanide girl", but I suppose sun-eyed works just as well but doesn't really fit IMHO. |

| Andrew Bird – Anonanimal Lyrics

that's funny, because last night at the Orpheum in LA he said that he was sitting in the hollywood bowl seats, thinking about how vast and how many people are going to be there for the show, and it made him think "oh my gosh, what kind of animal am i becoming?" and told us that the song was about what kind of animal he'd be... |

| Electric Six – When I Get to the Green Building Lyrics
| 17 years ago

this is one of those songs where i wish i could question the artist and be like, "dude, what is the green building, where is it, what does it mean?" i mean the song makes sense, but in that same way it doesn't make any sense at all.
i want to get to the green building. |

ugh, dead children are never something to be spoken about. every time i look at lyrics here it has someone go "THIS IS A SONG ABOUT HIS DEAD SON!!" and it just makes me cringe. Yeah, it's obvious, everyone is thinking it, no one needs to say it. it's one thing that he writes songs about it, that's his right, that's how he copes, and calling attention to it does just that, call attention to something that is simply upsetting and senseless. it just makes me uncomfortable, and i think it would make anyone with children uncomfortable. two cents. |

| Bodies Of Water – I Guess I'll Forget the Sound, I guess, I guess Lyrics

this song is amazing. to me, the title of the song makes me think of lovers, the sound of breath, etc, but is the song actually about that? i don't know. maybe. i don't care. what i do care about is this song nearly moves me to tears if i'm in the right spot in my head, and that is incredible. good job, bodies of water, you have made me your bitch. |

| Bodies Of Water – Under The Pines Lyrics

what are the saying before they shout UNDER THE PINES? all i hear is ALL I WAAH BLAAH WAAH UNDER .. THE .. PINES
oh, i think they are just going "under under under under" the pines all against each other before coming together for 'under the pines'.
anyway, this song rocks. it doesn't mean anything to me aside from 'rock the fuck out' and 'i like tree imagery' |

Wow, I always liked this song, and I never ever listened to the last chorus and caught all the Mountain Goats references. That's the only MG album I like, too, the first one, so cool. |
