To me, this song is about a woman watching a man she cares about sinking into despair. For some reason, I envision a woman losing her man to drug addiction and she is trying to "pul him free" of it. there are some pretty amazing remixes of this song, too. |

I heard this song late one night on some college radio station in 1991...I had to call the station to ask who the band was because it was the most beautiful song I had ever heard!! Almost 20 years later, I still listen to LUSH and they continue to be among my very favourite bands to listen to. I'm not too sure as to the meaning of this particular song, but is wthout a doubt, one of the best. |

Another gem from argueably one of the best of the "shoegazer" bands. This song has a very "60's" psychedelic pop sound and sensibility to it...This song kicks ass. The line "silver wind cuts my skin..." is SO fucking good!! If the wind had a colour, it would be silver...Brilliant! |

This has to be one of the prettiest songs ever. The imagery is stunning and anybody who has ever been in love should be able to relate to this song. I remember past girlfriends / relationships when I hear this tune. It makes me think of NYC on a clear and windy Autumn night...Holding hands and walking with an old girlfriend...I know, cheesy, but that is what this song means to ME. |

Me, too, I guess...I didn't think anybody else had ever heard this song. Awesome, awesome song by Mary Timony's band. Actually, I DO remember an episode of Beavis and Butthead where they were watching the video to this song and Butthead was saying how her guitar must be broken during the "solo"...(if you would call it such...). Pretty funny. O.K...I guess the song is about prostitution and AIDS...? Has a very "Boston, Mass." sound. Maybe because this song reminds me of my ex-girlfriend's sister, who was a heroin addict / prostitute. She lived in Boston, Mass. I wonder what became of her? Actually, Matamoros, Sugar Kane is about Marilyn Monroe(She used that name as her alias). I don't know what this song is about. Thurston has a tendency to write in stream of conciousness style.
