jenalisa and LovesBeatles, you are both wrong. LovesBeatles, calm down. Kesha makes dance music for the radio. She knows what she is, and isn't trying to tout it as art like other contemporary artists.(coughladygaga) If you're looking for lyrical value in the majority of "pop" music today, you're going to be disappointed. That being said, I think Kesha is good at what she does and actually has some witty lyrics. I think you are way too bitter and involved. To be honest, I didn't really like this song the first couple times I heard it. It seemed too simple, and I thought it was the worst on the album. But now, I think it might go deeper than that. I think he's using space as a metaphor for heaven, which makes sense because most people think of heaven as above us somewhere. "I hope this message finds you And you won't feel so alone Even if I never make it home" I think he may be dead, and he's talking to his girlfriend. "And even though I'd always dreamed of going to the stars" He's saying that even though he always wanted to go to heaven, "In space what I think about is you and me" he didn't want it to be this soon, and even though it is heaven, it doesn't compare to life with her. I don't know. Maybe I'm taking it a little too far. |

I don't know if anyone else got this, but to me, the harsher vocals represent the other members of Taking Back Sunday, and the higher ones are Fred. For example: TBS: This is what you signed up for. Fred: Take me off that list! TBS: And when tomorrow comes, you're gonna write a song, you're gonna send it out to me, cause i'm so vain...no, you can't complain. Fred: No, you can't complain when you can't come back to me. I think it's about them not really appreciating him and forcing him to do things he doesn't want to do, and then when he gets angry and rebels, they tell him that, well, this is what he's choosing to do, so he can't complain. I think the rest is pretty obvious, it's just about his last days in the band and struggling with the decision of quitting. I think the last time the chorus is sung, the dynamic changes, and it's Fred talking to TBS, telling them he has the upper hand now, and he's better off, and now they're the ones that can't complain. That's just my interpretation. It could be wrong, but I like it. |
