| to answer "yams02"'s question, i think he could be talking about a person, the last song on the album certainly seems to be talking about a person who died, timothy who the albums committed to the memory of. When i hear that line i thought he was talking about G-d, but if it means a person who's died too you, then that's cool, the great thing about songs is they don't have to one meaning. | |

I love this song. I got the i never said i was brave ep off ebay and this song struck me immediately, so much passion and feeling, so inspring. He seems to be talking about some sorta relationship ending and his pain in searching for comfort, like he's looking to G-d but starting to doubt his promises. I will lift my eyes to the hills is taken from a psalm, looking to the hills for G-d's help, but then he goes on to say promises, promises words, like where are you G-d, your promises aren't true. I think all folllowers of Christ go through doubt in times of struggle, i think aaron's pain and doubting questions refined him to be the awesome serving example of Love he is today. shalom |

aaron's a genius and has a beutiful serving heart, i've heard him speak many words on the meaning of this song and even though they mean so much to me, it means most to me when i found my own meanings and how it speaks to me, though that doesn't contrast from His too much, if atall. I think this song's summed up in the title, the fact that we can only do what G-d enalbes us to do and only give what G-d has given us, anything we have came first from G-d anyway so it's not ours to hold on to and it's not our love when we give selflessly, it's G-d's. He talked on stage once about how peacocks are proud craetures, i think christians can often be proud and self righteous but we are all nothing without the Love of Christ, i belive that ties in well with when he says in a sweater poorly knit, i do not exist, only you exist. He goes on at the end to talk about Christ's moment of perscecution leading to his crucifiction, how he was persecuted but did not react with anger, i think this is a lesson to us all, remembering that Yahweh loves all people and committing our lives to do the same even in the face or persecution, and even though our lips betray with a kiss, He still forgives us, what new mystery is this? Peace be with you aaron. |

he said in an e-mail to me a friend got him in to writing G-d like that, it actually hebrew origins, they wrote it like that on thinking He was all powerful and they were afraid to even use his name. Also why the name Yahweh is replaced with The Lord. I think even though it was done originally out of unnecesary fear it's a beautiful sign of respect when done with the right heart. I love this song, what a way to start the album, "i do not exist" is taken from aaron's favourite poet rumi as many of his words are. I think it's about denying our own desires for the things of this world and letting G-d's Love and desires be demonstrated in our lives, also i think about how we get ourselves in to all these stupid messes and only G-d through his grace can get us out. |
