this song is great because it could be interpreted in so many ways to different people. and it sounds great, of course. :) my first interpretation would be that he's trying to choose between a life of solitude and a life with friends. being alone means being self-reliant and independent, without anyone to let you down. but a life with others is wonderful because they're there to share it with you, but you end up losing sight of yourself, a lot. the balance between both is important, yet sometimes we struggle with question anyway. my second interpretation would be about him misinterpreting his relationship to a friend. he loves her, she doesn't, he's aware of this and can't stay friends with her because of it. |
