I don't really like a lot of rap like this, but I love this song. "The fiends need me, I ain't around, there bones ache Detox, rehab, cold sweats, watch 'em shake I'm not that genie in a bottle, I'm in a bag Take one hit, and slide off to the land of the H man When we first met, I thought you'd never doubt me Now you tryna leave me, you'll never live without me Girl, I'm missin' you, come and see me soon Tie your arm up, put that lighter under that spoon Now put that needle to ya arm princess, stick it in Relapse you fat bitch, don't ever try that again All that shit I did for you, I made you feel good We have a love thing, you treatin' this like its just a fling What we have is more sacred than a vow or a ring You broke my heart, you dirty bitch I won't forget what you did If you give birth, I'll already be in love with your kids Listen, I don't give a damn if your ass start smokin' But we have a bond and its not to be broken" This is the drug speaking, to somebody who seems to have not used in a day or two maybe, but saying that it knows she needs it because of the withdrawal she's feeling. [Hook x2- 50 cent] We got a love thing girl you try to leave me But you need me, can't you see you're addicted to me We got a love thing, I can take you higher girl Fuckin' with me, you can be all you can be [Verse 2- 50 Cent] "Baby you know, on the low your sister be eyein' me I'm good lookin', so you know, soon she'll be tryin' me I heard she bisexual, she fuck with that girl But boy, oh boy, fuckin' wit me is a whole 'nother world After that first night, she fall in love, then chased a feelin' I hung out with Marvin when he wrote "Sexual Healing" Kurt Cobain we were good friends, Ozzy Ozbourne too I be with rock stars, see you lucky I'm fuckin' with you I chill with Frankie Lyeman and Jimmy Hendrix crew See this is new to you, but to me this ain't new I live a lavished life, listen if the mood is right Me, you, and your sister can do the do tonight I never steer you wrong, you're hyper I make ya calm I be the incentive and reason for you to move forward Let's make a date, promise me you'll come and see me Even if it means you have to sell ya mama's TV I love you, love me back, no one said lovin' me'd be easy" Heroin is saying to the addict that her sister has seemeed interested, and has used other drugs, specifically cocaine but using heroin is a whole nother thing. Heroin is then saying, you should feel "cool" so to speak by using it, because so many stars have. It's saying, come use me again, do whatever you have to, sell your mom's tv. I like the line 'no one said lovin' me'd be easy' a lot. With heroin, you do literaly fall in love with it. It becomes your everything. [Hook x2- 50 cent] We got a love thing girl you try to leave me But you need me, can't you see you're addicted to me We got a love thing, I can take you higher girl Fuckin' with me, you can be all you can be [Verse 3- 50 Cent] "I love you, I got you barefooted on glass, chasin' a dove That monkey on your back, symbolizes my love Your friends talk bad about me bitch, you sit there and listen to 'em Over and over you hurt me, my love is unconditional They talk to you when you up, you down they got nothin' to say But when you call, I'll come runnin', I'll always take the pain away They set you up, to let you down, they crowned you prom queen they know about me behind your back, they call you a fuckin' fink Can we just be alone, so I can kiss and hug you Push me inside you, no other man can love you like I do" Heroin is saying, I'll be here for you when everyone else is calling you names, I'll take the pain away. And I'm pretty sure it's *fiend not fink "Call me daddy, I'll make you feel good, I mean real good I find pleasure in pleasin' you, like a real man should It was written long before us, it was carved in a tree Forever me and you baby we were meant to be There's more to life than laughter, what brought us together was fate And we'll be hand in hand, when you walk through those pearly gates And to see to that, I'ma do whatever it takes" Definitely my favorite verse. The last 2 lines are really powerful. Heroin is basically saying that you're going to be stuck with me as your addiction forever, and I'll be with you when you die. To make sure that happens, I'll do whatever it takes. Pretty much saying, the only goal for addiction is to kill you. |

Definitely, by far 1 of my favorite slug / atmosphere songs lyrically. "Had I known you would have grown Into a full blown example of how to act like an asshole I never would have introduced you to booze and skipping school Because right now I feel responsible to find an antidote Back in junior high when you and I started getting high Life was just a joke, we was to young to know the punch line And you would sooner die, than realize you're running out of time Who is to decide there is no more recess after lunchtime Bam, here you am, intoxicated again "Yo, how you doing man?" Yeah, it's good to see you Bam, here you am, intoxicated again You used to be my man, understand? I believe you slightly succeeded how many of them drinks that you think you need When you are trying to boost the bonus points and reinforce your voice" Basically saying, if he knew drugs would turn his friend into what he is now, he never would have introduced him to them. He feels responsible, and because of that he wants to be the 1 to help him beat it because he feels like the 1 who caused it. Slugs saying when they were young and fucking around, it was all fun and games, but now it's not. I love the line "Who's to decide there's no more recess after lunchtime?" It basically says, who decides when it all stops being fun? "But I'm not trying to walk within your obnoxiousness We used to be friends back in the day when you had direction But that was before your brain felt that infection I ain't claiming innocence, I was right there with you then But I'm just saying, when we was waiting to move up Some of us grew up We all knew what the difference between what wrong and right was Sometimes the line blurred when we was influenced by a light buzz" Here he's saying, that they used to be friends before his friend got so fucked up on drugs. Slugs saying he's not innocent, he was right there getting high with him, but he grew up. They know right and wrong, but the line that separates them gets severely blurred with drugs "But from what I see You've established the persona basis Built the foundation for emulating the genera, drama Without taking the moments upon the trail of karma That's paved through the field that you wandered No longer am I shocked by the things you do I'm just confused as to why it has to be me to confront you I guess nobody else gives a damn So I got to go up myself, because I am a man, understand? You can take it as concern, or you can see it as your ego getting burned" He's saying he's so used to his friend fucking up that it no longer surprises him anymore, he just doesn't get why he's the only 1 to confront him. " Either way tonight though, one us is going to learn And I guess nobody else gives a damn, but see I do Because you used to be my man, understand? Even if you beat me down to the cement, it's all love I need to see you stick around until the end Bam, intoxicated again, right? Got to go up myself Bam, because I am a man, understand? " He's saying it might seem like nobody cares, but he does, because they used to be so close, and he doesn't want to lose his friend to this. This describes EXACTLY where I'm at. Word for word. |

Synpse, I think you have them mixed up. "I heard she bisexual, she fuck with that girl But boy, oh boy, fuckin' wit me is a whole 'nother world" Coke is called White Girl, so fucking with that girl is talking about coke. And since he's personifying heroin, when he says "Fuckin wit me is a whole nother world" He's talking about ok coke is bad, but fucking with the heroin is a whole nother thing |

This can be interpreted in any which way you please, but the heron referances are clearly stated. "Never thought you'd make me perspire. Never thought I'd do you the same. Never thought I'd fill with desire. Never thought I'd feel so ashamed." Withdrawal symptoms include sweating. (perspiring.) Filling with the desire to use and get high. And then feelings of shame due to the drug use. "Me and the dragon can chase all the pain away." Chasing the dragon is a term mostly used in smoking heroin, but can be chasing the high of heroin, injected, or snorted. "Never thought I'd have to retire Never thought I'd have to abstain Never thought all this could back fire Never thinking this will have to end, and you'll have to stop. Thinking this can go on forever, but then it backfires. The drug takes control over you. "Close up the whole in my vein", stop using |

| The Spill Canvas – To Live Without It Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think it's about addiction in general. Nowhere in the song does it specifically state what it's about. Also, just because it makes the relation to a bloody nose, does not mean it's just about coke. Plenty of things can do that. Meth, pills, heroin, anything. I do think it's more so about drug addiction, or something of the sort because "And there I was all cloudy-eyed I was trying to speak. My family stood before me. And then the tears started running and running right from their eyes.Don't you think I woulda' stopped if I coulda' screamed between the cries " That kind of reminds me of an intervention or something. The family coming with concern and all. |

| Lifehouse – From Where You Are Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| In the new Allstate commercial, before they play the song on the radio, they have a clip of the singer telling what it's about. When he was younger, he lost a friend to a driving accident, and is now doing whatever he can to help. | |
| Jack's Mannequin – Holiday From Real Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Just for the record, I don't really care what the "1/8th" was intended to mean, but 1/8th can talk about anything. It's a term of measurment. Whether it be bud, coke, heroin, mushrooms, or friggen cereal. And for whoever said that coke doesn't come in 1/8ths, it most definitely does. an "8-ball" is 3.5 grams, aka 1/8th. It could be weed, it could be coke, it could be heroin, it doesn't matter. The plot of the song still remains the same | |
| Boys Night Out – Get Your Head Straight Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this song is definitely 1 of my favorite boys night out songs (lyrically) because i relate to it a lot. my favorite part is the beginning "Get your head straight before it's too late. Get your head straight and find a better way. There are good nights, and there are hard rides. There are a million things to think about when you give up getting high." It's saying give up drugs, find another way to live, before you're even further in, or dead. Once giving up addiction, you have to live life, and deal with feelings instead of being numb "hard rides" but also, being clean is really rewarding hensce the "good nights". Once you give up getting high, your whole world chances. There's SO much more to think of. Morals come back, motivation comes back, you want to make something of yourself. It's amazing | |
| Linkin Park – Crawling Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
There’s something inside me that pulls beneath the surface, Consuming, confusing. This lack of self control I fear is never ending. Controlling, I can’t seem, To find myself again My walls are closing in Without a sense of confidence, I’m convinced there's just too much pressure to take I’ve felt this way before So insecure Crawling in my skin These wounds they will not heal Fear is how I fall Confusing what is real That whole part, is by far, my favorite. We're all pretty clear on that it's about addiction, and that is the "something" beneath the surface. Addiction consumes you, and confuses you into thinking you're not an addict. When addicted you have no self control, and you feel you never will. You don't know who you really are. I've yet to meet someone who thought highly of themselves when addicted. The last part "fear is how i fall, confusing what is real" is definitely my favorite. In the "street life" and drug addiction, fear is a sign of weakness. You don't show people that you're scared, ever. And the 2nd part to that "confusing what is real" i know for me, i was always unsure about what was real and what wasn't. drugs fuck you up real bad, and you're never sure |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Otherside Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| oh, also the line "Centuries are what it meant to me A cemetery where I marry the sea" is 1 of my favorites, because cemetary is where i married the sea is a term for doing heroin, and centuries are what it meant to me, is just saying that doing it once isn't an option. it just goes on | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Otherside Lyrics | 18 years ago |

my favorite line is definitely "I yell and tell it that It’s not a friend I tear it down I tear it down And then it’s born again" because you can get clean, and give up your addiction for short periods of time, but when you don't change, it just creeps back out. oh, and jidsinthewayfan365, clearly yeah you're right, it's not about pot, but actually, pot is addictive. i've been in and out of rehab for the past 3 years, and just because it's not physically addictive, doesn't mean it's not addictive. |

| The Postal Service – This Place Is a Prison Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this song really hits home. i'm only 16 years old, but i've been dealing with drug addiction for about 3, and it's only progressed, up until i've been dealing with a heroin addiction for over a year. i've finally gotten my shit together, and im getting clean after spending a month in an inpatient rehab, and am now back in outpatient. "this place is a prison, these people aren't your friends, inhaling thrills through $20 bills" that line really gets me. to me, "this place" is just drug addiction. it is a prison, and once your so far in, there's really not too many options. jails, institutions, and deaths are the outcomes unless you get clean. "these people arent your friends": when you deal with drug addiciton, you mostly only interract with drug addicts who really arent much of friends. they use you as much as you use them. i've found that now that i'm clean, they don't care. i have nothing to offer now, no drugs, no money, so i'm useless. "inhaling thrills through $20 bills": that can be about anything. at 1st i disagreed that it was about pot, but it's about a cheap fix. pot, coke, heroin, alcohol, whatever. none of them are forever. "I know there's a big world out there Like the one I saw on the screen In my living room late last night It was almost too bright to see" That to me, is when you're in addiction, that's all you do. You don't experience outside life. And there is a big world out there, far beyond drugs. "And I know that it's not a party If it happens every night Pretending there's glamour and candelabra When you're drinking by candlelight What does it take to get a drink in this place? What does it take, how long must I wait? " That part really gets me. I see it as, denial is the 1st part. You deny your addiction in many ways, being defensive is the main 1. I know for me, I said so many times i'm just young, i'm just partying, i'm just having fun. So much that I even fooled myself into thinking it was glamorous and fun, but it was the furthest from the truth. And the end part to that "What does it take to get a drink.." Everyone has interpreted that very differently. I see it as, when you get into recovery, and give up drugs, they say alcohol is a drug. I see it as, how long do i have to wait before i can just have a drink? This seems awfully long, and it's okay if not everyone agrees. Just my thoughts, (= | |
