| Animal Collective – Safer Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I don't think it's really "about a bad trip"... for animal collective to write something that cryptic and just making it about drugs seems unlikely. Just because we can't make sense out of some of these lyrics doesn't mean that they don't mean something to Dave. Furthermore, this song was responsible for bringing a bad trip to a good trip for me. There's something undeniably joyous about it that I can't put my finger on exactly. Something to do with the melody and the repetition of "don't let it get you down" in the second half, and the shouting of "I'm alright" always convinces me that I am in fact alright. | |
| Animal Collective – Lion in a Coma Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Not going to pick apart the song line for line or anything, but what I get from it is that the Lion in a Coma is sort of a metaphor for a libido or some sort of desire...whether it's negative or positive to me doesn't really matter but it seems more positive to me. Avey's talking about just letting go and letting all of his energy out...maybe. | |
| Animal Collective – Chores Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| yea. I feel like live he does the "booklet lyrics" in the slower half of the new version of chores...but I can almost swear that he sings the lyrics posted on here during the fast parts. | |
| Animal Collective – Doggy Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think the greatest thing about this song is that Dave never actually had a dog and he still has the power to write such compelling lyrics just as if he had. | |
| Animal Collective – What Would I Want? Sky Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Two things you need to keep in mind when you listen to these songs: 1. Avey Tare's writing is modern surrealism...it all might mean something, but then again it doesn't have to necessarily. 2. What the song means to Avey is NOT what they want you to think of as "the song meaning" by any means, like any good art it has multiple interpretations... so basically anything anyone says is right. I just enjoy this song for what it is. Every time I close my eyes and listen to it it just paints such a beautiful picture on my eyelids. I was at a show where this was brand new for the most part. I have quite an intimate association with this song because of that. |

| Alkaline Trio – Dethbed Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I agree with HappyTrash's interpretation, but there would be no reason for matt to just make up a murder story like that, a good song writer always throws in the old double-entendre. I think that the whole song is just a big metaphor for what happens when you get put on the receiving end of a bad heartbreak. | |
| KoЯn – Forsaken Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| oh my god. some of you are complete morons. it seems people have tried to clear it up but no one is understanding. JONATHAN DAVIS WROTE ALL FIVE OF THE LESTAT SONGS, in addition to scoring the film. in the movie it is CLEARLY his voice. On the soundtrack however, due to contracting reasons, he couldnt perform the songs, so they had Wayne, David, Chester, Marilyn, and Jay sing the songs, all the while munky and head played guitar. | |
| Streetlight Manifesto – What a Wicked Gang Are We... Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
So here's to the boys who fight all the wars you will never fight for yourself! the boys who fight all the wars- the army the army doesnt really give you individuality, you're just kind of another gear in the system. so i take this as "if you just sit there and go along your merry way like everybody else, you're never going to make a difference" |

| Zebrahead – I'm Money Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| Streetlight Manifesto – One Foot on the Gas, One Foot in the Grave Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i def agree with astatusquoexile about the Karma Police thing, that was my first reaction when i heard it. and i disagree with the Rancid theory. | |
| The Mars Volta – Agadez Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| and yes, it is quite funky. | |
| The Mars Volta – Agadez Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song seems like its trying to illustrate some scandalous part of the love triangle. like one of the women (presumably) realizes that what she did was a bad idea and is now trying to distance herself away from Goliath. | |
| The Mars Volta – Tourniquet Man Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i actually hold this song in pretty high regard, its short and reallly eerie sounding. the vocal effects are maddd cool. | |
| Peaches – Fuck the Pain Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| its a catchy song.. but its a piece of shit. its danceable.. but i could do this with a computer and a microphone if i wanted to. | |
| Streetlight Manifesto – Would You Be Impressed? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song reminds me alot of Hell by the Squirrel Nut Zippers. I know Tom cites them as a big influence. just pointing that out. even tho they sort of have conflicting messages. idk | |
| Streetlight Manifesto – Somewhere in the Between Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
To MaianMagus, I dont think SM really cares about being left unknown. Considering they have no biography. Tom is very about the Music. I garuntee you as long as Tomas Kalnoky is fronting this group they will never be on MTV or any other popular airplay. it just wouldnt be them. To Morgan Hoo: I think that the phrase is a double meaning. The song itself is def. an ode to life and about how its not just a step between birth and death and how we should really live our lives how we want to. but looking at the cover.. it seems like Heaven is the swirly blue, earth is the brown bumps, and hell is the pointy firey part. so in that aspect i agree with your interpretation of somewhere in the between. anyway this is one of my favorite songs. |

| Streetlight Manifesto – The Blonde Lead the Blind Lyrics | 18 years ago |

"And I gave up, yes I gave up and then I gave in." -among other things i think this is also a throwback to Giving Up, Giving In |

| Streetlight Manifesto – Down Down Down to Mephisto's Cafe Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Alexeugene and Ohyea05, I think you guys are wrong with the intended meaning of the song. looking at the album as a whole it fits right in with the whole feeling if doing what you think is right going against what society says. "So fuck the flocks of sheep that keep amassing masses Asses being led so far astray" -Christians consider themselves sheeps with Jesus as their shepard "And I won't claim to believe the things I read Black books or agenda magazines" - what color is the bible? Black. "if your father really loves you more What about the other families?" - being brought up catholic I have heard many times that they believe that they are the only right religion. So its like, if you guys think god loves you more, what about all the other religions. i agree with whoever said that. "And the righteous few will spit on you, so bid them all farewell" -Alot of highly religious people have this attitude like you're mentally ill or something if you dont go to church. and that they're like upper class and youre not worth the shit on their shoes. thats just my take on it. the album is amazing. Tom has done it again. |

| Streetlight Manifesto – One Foot on the Gas, One Foot in the Grave Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think Angela seems to have hit the nail on the head. the whole album seems to be against organized religion and very anti-societal if thats a word. | |
