| Melissa Etheridge – Breakdown Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
One of the most emotional Etheridge songs, hits close to home for me, especially current day. It's also one that does not need explanation. The most striking lines for me: "I found my place in this downtown. Salt air and yellow street lights... And I'm driving and crying, unraveled and flying, I'm coming to you're breakdown tonight ." |

| José González – Teardrop (Massive Attack cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Jose did a beautiful awe-inspiring cover of Massive Attack's song, Teardrop. I absolutely love playing his songs on my acoustic with nylon strings.. But this is one of my favourites to play, along with The Nest, How Low.. well, pretty much every song to be honest. He's great. Elizabeth Fraser (singer of the Cocteau Twins, who sang on Massive Attack's Teardrop,) sings "fearless" and not "feathers." And also at the end, she sings "Stumbling a little". I do like the quirks when people cover songs and change the words, for example another cover of this song (Newton's cover) he ends with "You're stumbling in the dark, Stumbling in the dark." So for others' interpretations on the meanings of this song, check out the Massive Attack one: http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/44600/ And of course the other covers for even more opinions. Watch the original music video, that will give you great insight.. a fetus in the womb, singing. That's far out. |

| Alanis Morissette – Still Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I can listen to this song over and over and over. I'm not religious, but so extremely spiritual as I cannot commit to any religion on this earth. Her words just get straight to my heart. Dogma was such a good movie and I was overjoyed at their inclusion of her playing, of all characters, the best God one could ever hope to be cast in a movie. All the things we do on this earth, to this earth, to each other.. Alanis has an indescribable way of addressing those issues. Pure genius in this song. And I cannot repeat enough, her lyrics go right to my heart and soul. And not just this song. I'm glad she's still making music. |

| Alanis Morissette – Straitjacket Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Upon first listen to this song, I both realized: from 12 years ago when the hardcore Alanis fans on her mailing list were ecstatic about "shit" and "fuck" songs selling so well, :: then we get Straitjacket that delivers in the first 45 seconds alone! I identify with this song, and when my lyrics for Tapes are submitted, I'll comment on those as well. I've waited so many years for a record of this magnitude and finally got it. I love it when artists pursue their personal goals in their music- it makes for better music in the end, instead of just selling out (which Alanis will never do.) As for the lyrics, it seems to me from the point of view of the lyrics and how she addresses it in her usual manner, it's relationship-related. Or at least a close-friend. |

| Alanis Morissette – Citizen of the Planet Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This is one of my favourites on Flavors.. a few typos in this submission (words that aren't actually in the song.) Alanis' style is definitely present in this song! Reminds me very much of Thank U, it has that global and spiritual feel to it. |

| Alanis Morissette – Not As We Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Edited. Sorry about that- my file had the corrections but apparently I pasted the wrong file first... I did what I could with the only (at the time, all that was available) studio-quality lines on the episode of House, plus a full version yet extremely poorly recorded first live performance of the song. Hopefully I'll have access to confirm these lyrics in the near future and have this settled, finally. |

| Dethklok – Awaken Lyrics | 18 years ago |

It's still a song, Execute Me. And they still released an album. That has songs. With words. Doesn't matter where their copyrighted material airs. Wait until you're over the age of thirteen to start hurling unfounded insults and curses. But, good job making yourself look like a fool. As for the meaning of this song, I do think the lyrics are fairly straightforward. |

| Alanis Morissette – Would Not Come Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I read years ago of an interview, that she stated she literally sat down in her closet and started writing, after asking herself.. "What do I want?" And this song is what came out of it. | |
