This song never fails to bring a tear to my eye. The meaning is obvious, it's about 9/11. The day starts as any other day but it quickly morphs into tragedy. The jumping out the window thing is about the people who jumped to their deaths to avoid burning to death. Very sad. Great song. |

To me this song is about how people change through drug use. For whatever reason, the arrow represents a life path that has been changed. At first you get high because you want to but not because you need it, and you wonder if this is really what you want out of life. As time goes on though, you get high because you're addicted and you wonder if this is really what you want out of life. After awhile your entire life seems to be a haze of drug blurred memories, and before you know it you're old and have done nothing that you would've wanted to do before drugs came along.
This is my interpretation anyway. |

How did this song's page turn into a debate about who's the best bassist? No question it is Claypool. He plays six strings with no frets in addition to singing the whole time. Go see him live and realize:
CLAYPOOL IS THE BASS GOD. NO OTHERS COMPARE! |

This song shows Mastodon's maturity as a band. The weird noise is whistling through distortion, or at least that's what it looked like when I saw them live. The riffs in this song are long, complex, and excellent. Yet ANOTHER instant Mastodon classic. |
