Flying Lyrics

I jumped out the window,
to get to the parking-lot,
I'm writing this little song,
on my way down,
never in my life,
have i felt a heat so hot,
i had to get out.

Such a lovely day to go flying...
the sky's so clear the sun is shining...
fate has given me wings,
such a terrible funny thing.

I was gathering my nerve to ask out carmen,
she glanced out the window,
oh my god,
her room it went away,
just not the way i planned.

Such a lovely day to go flying...
the sky's so clear the sun is shining...
fate has given me wings,
such a terrible funny thing,
funny thing...

I jumped out the window,
to get to the parking-lot,
I'm writing this little song,
on my way down.

Such a lovely day to go flying...
the sky's so clear the sun is shining...
fate has given me wings,
such a terrible funny thing,
funny thing...
such a funny thing...
funny thing...
funny thing...
such a terrible funny thing...

This song never fails to bring a tear to my eye. The meaning is obvious, it's about 9/11. The day starts as any other day but it quickly morphs into tragedy. The jumping out the window thing is about the people who jumped to their deaths to avoid burning to death. Very sad. Great song.

It's worth pointing out that there is a missing line in the lyrics posted:

The room, it went away, Nnow we're holding hands. Just not the way I planned...

Also worth pointing out that pretty much every lyrics site has this section quoted incorrectly. You'd think most of the listener base was retarded based on some of the attempts at jotting down the lyrics.

Anyway. The song is touching and a nice idea. smooth to groove to as well. A true juxtaposition.

And irony makes an appearance as I make a typo in my revised lyrics. Nice.

From the moment i heard the lyrics "I jumped out the window, to get to the parking-lot, I'm writing this little song, on my way down" with that dark weird guitar i imagined the falling men of 9/11,without knowing it was actually about 9/11.Heartgrabbing!
