| System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics | 17 years ago |

On songfacts, I found the following: "The original name of the song is "Suicide," but they had to change the name to make it radio friendly. In the beginning of the song, you hear Serj say "we're rolling suicide." The title is a bit of a play on words - "Suey-cide." " "Guitarist Daron Malakian: "The song is about how when people die, they will be regarded differently depending on the way they pass. Like, if I were to die from a drug overdose, everyone would say I deserved it because I abused drugs, hence the line 'Angels deserve to die.'" " "This is about drug addiction, but it doesn't have the somber tone that many songs about addiction have. The band describes it as "a little quacky." The song can also be interpreted to be about how society views death or about Christ." That's all from (songfacts.com). It's a pretty good source for song meanings, although it can get opinionated. But that quote from the guiatarist seems pretty credible. |

| System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Here is my initial reaction to this song. It sounds like some sort of abuse- I'm counting suicide/depression as abusing yourself, even if you can't control it. If it is abuse, hiding the scars could mean hiding bruises, or any sign of abuse. If it is suicide however, hiding the scars could mean from cutting yourself. The shakeup could be a bout of depression that makes you cut. "Why'd you leave the keys upon the table? Here you go, create another fable" sounds as if a parent is chiding a child. This could also work for the abuse scenario though. Abusive people tend to be very paranoid, asking their friends/family, significant others "Where've you been?" as if they were out betraying them. Sadly, confusing me further, this could work for the suicide perspective. The person is being chided by someone, judged by someone. When "you wanted to" breaks out, it sounds more like suicide. The victim wants it all to end. Their thoughts are tangled, their spirit is crushed. They're looking for a way out. By the chorus, the abuse victim (or depressed, suicidal person) knows that their way out is suicide. They think that either these things that happen to them are their fault, or that they deserve them. That's the suicide of it- sacrificing youself for someone else to be happy (in the abuse case, they may think the abuse is their fault, they they make the person angry. this is common in reality). The "Father, why have you forsaken me?" is a biblical reference, yeah. However, it could be just anyone asking God why these things are happening, why their life is so terrible. Yet they want to be with God, dead, free from pain. The last bit, "I cry when angels deserve to die" could be a plee from anyone. Good people die, good people get hurt. This makes me believe, more and more, that this song is refering to Jesus, the pain He suffered through, His trials and His death. It's not uncommon for a secular songwriter to write about things like that. It evicts emotion in people, and they can relate to these things. Many, many illusions in this song. Which is why I got a second opinion on songfacts.com. |

| Creed – Wash Away Those Years Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Great song. Yes, it's about rape. Oh, and those of you who only post about your dislike of Creed? Why the heck are you even here? You're wasting you time, posting with no reason nor song meaning besides, "they suck". |
|
| Creed – Never Die Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This is my buddy sound for AIM. Annoys the heck out of people ^-^'. Simply someone remembering their youth, and coming to the conclusion that living with the innocence of a child within you is a good thing. We complicate our lives so much more as adults, yet children see everything so clearly and in simple terms (ex: Scout and Jem in To Kill a Mockingird). |
|
| Creed – Signs Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song seems to be about the touchier subjects in society. The first thing brought up, age, is simply talking about age discrimination. The second, about God, just points out that people are very touchy when it comes to religion. Everyone little thing turns into, "They're trying to convert me!" And let's face it people- racial discimination in society is a problem. Sex, talk of sex, etc is frowned upon, and is too big of a deal in today's society- ex without love, that is. The rest is sorta self-explanitory. |

| Savage Garden – Two Beds And A Coffee Machine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
A sad, sad song. One of my favorite by them. Although I was more of a fan in the 90s XP. I believe he must be writing from the POV of a friend of the girl. My dad has a lady friend whose husband is abusive. It really pains him that she can't just run away or ditch him, which makes more meaning for "wonder how I ever made it through". It's hardest to endure, but it's horrible to watch a person go through that. |

| Thrice – Broken Lungs Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Why are you all so disappointed? Is this song not meaningful enough just because it has a clear meaning?/ We need to here some things directly. Those who get Thrice's more cryptic songs will forever hold that wisdom, but those whom never will listen to their messages need songs like this. Learning what this song was about has not scared my liking for it at all. Although I love the mysterious, multi-interpretative songs, this song was still great. |
|
| Thrice – Come All You Weary Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Indeed, the meaning, from that Bible verse, is now quite clear. And a very good song. It's very unlike their usual songs, eh? Very soft and gentle, soothing. In a different way than Atlantic is. In it lies relief from suffering through Jesus, what He promised people. He continues to help us, if we let Him. |

| Ivoryline – Be Still And Breathe Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Looking t it again, it might be about a failed relationship. | |
| Ivoryline – Be Still And Breathe Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I'm still a little fuzzy on the meaning, so I'll take a stab at interpreting it a little at a time. "Did you hear me call your name? Did you hear me call or were your thoughts just too loud, or were your thoughts just loud enough for you to miss it." 1.) Sometimes, we don't pay attention in this crazy life, because we're so preoccupied with something every waking moment. 2.) Or maybe it means that someone is ignoring them when they need to convey their feelings. They feel they're being ignored, perhaps, by means of selective hearing (hearing only what you want to hear). 3.) This could be in God's point of view. This would change the entire meaning of the song -_-. I better analyze it that way as well. "I thought you'd be listening a little more intently for me." This goes along more with my second assumption. Going with the third assumption, God is trying to reach someone- He knows what He has to say will help the person. "But I'll be here when you're ready. Until then, just be still and breathe." 1.) When you're ready to focus fully on one thing at a time... they will be there. Be still, calm down and listen! 2.)The be still and breathe part could be like a "calm down, relax" type of message. 3.) God is always there when you're ready for Him. "But I was screaming. I was screaming." Fed up, they've been trying to convey their message (whether it be God or man) "Everything they said about you Everything they've known was wrong." This is what confuses me. I related it to the following: 1.) Everything that niave people think that God is and does is wrong. "The outside doesn't feel what the inside knows is real." 1.) People not in our religion don't feel God's love. But we do, and we know it is real, and that God is real. "Did you see me walking back through the same door that I left? The same door that I left. Why didn't you stop me if you could, stop me?" At this time, the Christian assumption of the song's meaning is looking more and more likely. It sounds like the person is talking to God, saying that they left Him but now they've returned. They wonder why God didn't keep them from turning away from Him in the first place. "There was something that I missed. Probably cause I didn't want to find it. I didn't want to find it. Then came the arguments, now there is silence. Just be still and breath. Be still and breath." No clue. This defies my interpretations thus far. As does the next few lines after the chorus. If anyone else would care to analyze this song... it would be most appreciated. |

| The Send – Say Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Ok, I think this song is about waiting until marriage for sex. Seriously, I do. I think that's what the, "Someday love I'll make you mine" is refering to. Or maybe it's just aout taking a break from someone, but telling them that you do still want to be with them- you need some time. | |
| The Send – In Repose Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"Just as a bleeding wound dries I found a road, and left home" Perhaps this pertains to leaving your home when you're old enough? "And as the mountain is high I took your tears and went on" Maybe this is the friends and family being sad about them leaving. "You know my heart is falling asleep And you'd paint the sky, to see me believe you And I know my heart has fallen asleep And you'll still remain, and I'll change to see you" A person is grieving about leaving their home, but won't admit it. But the Lord is always with them, even if they have to leave other loved ones behind. "Remembering every disguise I found a way to lead on Just as my heart has run dry With blood and bone I miss home" Self explanitory if my general assumption about the song is correct. The "falling alseep" part may be about closing their heart to everyone as a pat of thei grieving... I love this song. Brilliantly sung... |

| The Send – Drown Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is a great song... | |
| The Send – Dawn and Dusk Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I love the chorus. I love the bridge to the chorus. Heck, I love this song! About turning to God or "staying in the dark". | |
| The Send – Blocking the Sun Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| About feeling so alone, even in an entire city full of people, but then tuning to God for comfort. I THINK. anyone else want to add to these comments? I'm surprised that there aren't any more. I mean, these guys are new to the music scene, but they're good. | |
| The Send – Begin Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| A song about ignoing God, and then starting over. | |
| The Send – The Science of the Sky Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I love how he whispers, "speak to me, speak to me..." in one of the choruses. This band has such talent, musically and lyically. | |
| The Send – Need Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It's "You exist" not inexist. Very straightforward if you know that this band is Christian. Someone is saying that the Lord gives them their identity, their existance. He is always there... and saying the extend of their love for Him, hence the, "Take my heart, I'll lose myself, I'd lose it all for you". A very nice opener for the cd, a meaningful song. |
|
| The Send – Fairweather Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Gah, those, "will"s should be "could"/"can", depending on where in the song it is... This song's meaning is quite simple. It's about someone who has been hurt here on earth by its people. The Lord is the only one who can help this person (which they're learning is true). People come and go, but the Lord is forever |
|
| The Send – An Epiphany Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"I've awoke in the dark to believe the things I've seen It's all there" Those are the correct lyrics for that last part, straight from the lyric booklet. |

| Hawk Nelson – Take Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| God*. | |
| Hawk Nelson – Take Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Very nice song. It's about giving into Go, when one finally realizes that need him. That He's always there.. | |
| Hawk Nelson – Like A Racecar Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| So darn catchy. I find myself singing to, "I want to but I can't let go." I'm not a fan of the lyrics though. | |
| Hawk Nelson – The One Thing I Have Left Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is what made me want to get this cd- heard this on a Christian radio station. Looked it up, saw that they sing a lot of songs that I like :). | |
| Hawk Nelson – Something On My Mind Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It is hilaious when he says, "you'll neva eva pull my leva. Not today an not foreva," like that ^_^. | |
| Hawk Nelson – The Show Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| yep, it is "jet back hummer". Fun song. | |
| Hawk Nelson – Bring Em Out Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| No particular meaning, but don't ya just wanna sing along? ^-^ | |
| The Almost – Say This Sooner Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I disagree, only because personally I'm not into harder music. Well, not as far as metal, atleast. I'd say they're punk/rock. | |
| The Send – An Epiphany Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Truely an awesome song. I searched everywhere for the artist and song name, and finally I decided to give the radio station a little e-mail asking. They told me a tale of an awesome new band called the Send :). This song seems to be... well, lets analyze a little at a time, shall we?: "when the world is in your arms you try to pull it all apart and keep the pieces not too far" Not quite sure! Anyone else care to venture a guess? "we could wish upon a star or dream of kisses in the dark but then we'd wake to find our hearts ooh, ooh" First of all those "ooh"s are simply... beautifully sung. Secondly... maybe it means that you can want something with all your heart, but you'll realize that it's not what we necasarily need. "beyond the moon and endless space could there be a final place to take us in with saving grace" Could there be a 'heaven' out there, that could take pity on us and save us? Forgive us? "of the past thats far from dead and all the times that i have bled i've found that hope is always left and shown me we've got the motions down and we all have the moon and the raining clouds" We got through the darker emotions within us, and it won't help to see all the darkness that surrounds us (darkness being anger, saddness, hurt, etc. The ones that most people wouldn't want to go through). Hope is always there though which you can see because of the bad things that happen to us. Kind of a "shadow proves the sunshine" type of thing. There's no goo without evil, no evil without good. "we need to realize that only love will show us what we are all living for" Kind of self explanitory. Done!... what's that? I seem to have skipped some of the song in my analysis. Well, that was on purpose. Both parts have a beautiful and deep meaning.. which I'm sure I'm too naive at the momment to realize. So I'll just wait and see if anyone else knows what it means. |
|
| Five Finger Death Punch – The Bleeding Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It seems like an abusive sort of relationship where one kills the other o.o. Kind of odd, yeah, but after looking over the lyrics, that's what came to mind. | |
| Thrice – Backdraft Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Wow... that makes so much sense than what I was thinking, mai3173! I had a hard time with this song. I like how the verses are sung, almost like a faraway call. And then when he says "oh swing the door wide open", it gets louder... sorry for pointing out the obvious it's just one really nice song.. | |
| Thrice – The Whaler Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| And also, I love how the daughter asks "when are you coming home", while the wife says, "will you be coming home". This isso very sad... because a child is more naive and can't imagine just losing a family member. Adults however know that... anything could happen out there. | |
| Thrice – The Whaler Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Very, very haunting. It happens- fathers never come home to their families because of their jobs. And it hurts them to know it hurts their loved ones, but they can't stay away. Beautiful, yes. | |
| Nickelback – Never Again Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Yeah, definantly about a father abusing his wife, and the child knowing it's happening. And hating their dad for it. Then the mom is so afraid, she goes along with the lies about how she got hurt. But some women get murderous before they let it get too far. It has happened, and is happening. | |
| Editors – An End Has A Start Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I found the melody good. His voice startled me a bit, but it's unique, which is good. | |
| Chevelle – Family System Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Excuse me, but I believe I've seen enough of this on this site. If someone has an opinion on the song meaning that happens to be religious, RESPECT THEM, for crying out loud! No one is forcing you into any religion. No one is forcing beliefs onto you. And I am deeply sorry if they have...Their Christianity has influenced some of their music. This is what I've heard. This happens- religion is part of life. It IS life to many. I can relate to the divorce thing, and divorce... tears families apart, lies are uncovered, feelings hurt... the abuse makes sense, but personally, I connected it differently to one of life's many downs... |
|
| Foo Fighters – Damn You Damn Everyone Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| doesn't seem up to their normal lyrical quality... | |
| Black Stone Cherry – Rain Wizard Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I really like this song, ever since I first heard it awhile ago. I always anticipate that first "Here comes the rain". | |
| Serj Tankian – Empty Walls Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| All I have to say is I heard the edited version on Music Choice... O.O.. | |
| Relient K – Combos And Skittles Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| StupidtoWish, you are correct! I wish these lyrics were editable *sigh* The colors of the rainbow v.s. crunchy goodness... can't decide. | |
| Foo Fighters – Razor Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think Childe has it right. I heard this song on my brother's cd, and I was just about falling asleep. Despite what it is or is not about, it is soothing. |
|
| Red – Let Go Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| These are the correct lyrics. I have the lyric packet... And many thanks for your explanation, mitsukai zero. | |
| Red – Gave It All Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Least favorite of the cd, but still good. Sorta self explanitory. | |
| Red – Already Over, Pt. 2 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Also acoustic, not just slow :). This version is somewhat haunting, and I like it, maybe even better than the regular version. This is the last song on the cd. | |
| Red – Hide Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"Waste away, I'm crawling blind": Helpless an defenseless without God.... "I will run and hide 'til Memories fade away And I will leave behind a Love so strong"- They will run away from God, leaving behind His love, which is so very strong... that's all I could interpret. |
|
| Fall Out Boy – I'm Like a Lawyer with the Way I'm Always Trying to Get You Off (Me and You) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I saw this song on either VH1 or one of the MTV stations this morning. I like the song, I like the video. | |
| Fall Out Boy – Hand of God Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I like the lyrics, and I don't usually like Fall Out Boy. A question people ask when they hear a song- are they singing aout themselves, or their lives? I know it is deeper yet, but I can't seem to yank out the entire meaning.. | |
| Relient K – When I Go Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
My favorite Relient K song overall. It has helped me through some ruff spots and it is so haunting and beautiful... ' I won't look very far Cause you'll be there With open arms To lift me up again" Beautiful... God is always there for us. |
|
| Relient K – Kick-off Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I laughed when I first heard this. I still smile at it. | |
| Relient K – Getting Into You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Everytime I listen to this song, or just about everytime, I get chills throughout my body. It just makes me feel so good, and with Go. I've prayed whilst listening to this before. It's one of my favorite songs by them. | |
