The One Thing I Have Left Lyrics
Will someone please radio for help
Cuz I think I'm allergic to myself
& they think they can throw us all away
We gotta stop it before it's all too late
There's got to be a better way
They dissect everything we say
To try to make us feel this way
And you can take the one thing I have left
I'd give it all away for so much less
Can even take the heart inside my chest
Woah-woah.
And you can take the one thing I have left
Beat me to the ground & take my breath
But you can't take who I am
woah-woah.
And I swear we were born to let you down
we scream but never make a sound
we point but don't know which direction
we are america right now
There's got to be a better way
They dissect everything we say
To try to make us feel this way
And you can take the one thing I have left
I'd give it all away for so much less
Can even take the heart inside my chest
Woah-woah.
And you can take the one thing I have left
Beat me to the ground & take my breath
But you can't take who I am
woah-woah.
How can I be safe
How can I stay awake
How come I am so tired of all these charades?
How can I be alive
How can I hold the gun
How can I see if everyone else is to blame
hey! hey!
Don't want to be the
hey! hey!
Don't want to see the
hey! hey!
Cuz we point the finger
Think everyone else is to blame
Everyone else is to blame
Cuz I think I'm allergic to myself
& they think they can throw us all away
We gotta stop it before it's all too late
They dissect everything we say
To try to make us feel this way
I'd give it all away for so much less
Can even take the heart inside my chest
Woah-woah.

this song is talking about how the world can take everything that a christian has and how we will always have something to hold onto even when the world takes it all..we'll still have God
I'd just like to say: Hawk Nelson is a Christian band. They do not hate on America. Forgive me for saying this, but those of you who think they are dissing America can go join Obama and his pack of evil liberty-killing socialists. :/ This song, to me, is talking about how people IN America look down at us Christians, not that the WHOLE of America bites there thumbs at us.
The one part that I'm not sure about is "How can I hold the gun". If you think you know the correct lyrics, please let me know. Currently, you can hear this song on hawk nelson's purevolume - www.purevolume.com/hawknelson - or find it on their new cd, Smile, It's the End of the World, which comes out April 4th.
Woah. No other comments. How catchy is the hook of this song? ....Very. "They dissect everything we say"- truest words spoken in the whole song.
I think this song might be about rebellion and how people always doubt you before they trust you.
What the heck is wrong with people!! No comments!! Wow I am really sad about myself. I just heard this song, on some one myspace! Lol... Anyways I think this song is about discrimination or terroist How us Americans or whatever other country are to them. I might be totally wrong but my friend is Brazilian and she said thats was she thinks of the song. I agree with her. I think. anyways say bye to molly!! O /|\ /\
i agree with lazblack. very catchy song though. my favortie line is "they dissect everything we say" cause thats so true.
WOW....First of all there can be so many different imterepations for this song it's not even funny I agree with our.lady.of.sorrows when she says "I think this song might be about rebellion and how people always doubt you before they trust you."
That is deffinatly one part of this song
Also this is a very anti american song..."Cuz we point the finger Think everyone else is to blame" Meaning people are very discriminating because they look at everyone elses faults and flaws before we look at ourselfs they are simply saying
"Have you ever asked me what makes me the way I am? Before you start judging me, or anyone for that matter.. Remember, you're not perfect either. Not everyone thinks the way you do. People don't have to live up to your expectations."
and so on....
They are shaking their fists at American becuase they are talking about how America Effects our children in negetive ways.
"we scream but never make a sound" That meaning they are trying their hardest to get their point across and be heard but no one has the patients or time to listen to them. They just they don't want to listen to a word they are saying because The government is stuck up and don't think anyone is right except themselfs.
"we point but don't know which direction" falsely accusing someone without any knowledge Or proof they acually did something wrong. They don't know who did it so they are pinning the blame on someone innocent.
We Are America right now. think about it
I disagree with cowbell love those lines go "And I swear we were born to let you down we scream but never make a sound we point but don't know which direction we are america right now" These lines sound to me like a conversation with God. Possibly about UNHEARD and unanswered pray (I believe that God WONT hear prayer if the prayer has unconfessed sins, and boy does AMERICA have a lot of those right now)
Im agreeing with cowbell love on this one, although i feel the lines "and I swear we were born to let you down, we scream but never make a sound" applies alot more to youth than anyone has suggested.
I think this song is about non christians and christians, like some people said above... how they question everything about what we say, and about God, and how he exicts.
